Traci Braxton's Husband, Kevin Surratt Sr., Speaks Out Following Her Passing: 'I’m Lost Without You
Traci Braxton was born in Severn, Maryland as the third child of her parents. Her father, Michael Conrad Braxton Sr. was a Methodist clergyman and power company worker, and her mother, Evelyn Jackson, a native of South Carolina, was a former opera singer and cosmetologist, as well as a pastor. Braxton's maternal grandfather was also a pastor.
Braxton has an older brother, Michael Jr. (born in 1968), and four sisters, Toni (born in 1967), Towanda (born in 1973), Trina (born in 1974) and Tamar (born in 1977). Braxton and her siblings were raised in a strict religious household,and Braxton's first performing experience was singing in her church choir.Toni, Traci, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar Braxton signed their first record deal with Arista Records in 1989. In 1990, they released their first single, "Good Life". It would be their only single as a fivesome. "Good Life" was not a hit, peaking at No. 79 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. At the time of the single's release, the members' age differences created a problem with marketing. Subsequently, The Braxtons were dropped from Arista Records.
In 1991, during a showcase with Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who were in the process of forming LaFace Records, Toni Braxton, minus her four sisters, was chosen and signed as the label's first female solo artist. At the time, the remaining members were told that LaFace was not looking for another girl group since it had just signed TLC.

Kevin loved Traci and she definitely loved him. They went through many challenges in their marriage, but it made them stronger. I am praying for the entire family, but I know losing a soulmate can be catastrophic. My dad was married to my mom for 6 decades and when she went from labor to reward, Dad spent 12 years waiting to die so he could join her in paradise. Kevin is still a young man. I am sure he and Traci discussed life after her death. I just pray that Kevin can find joy, peace and happiness in the next chapter of his life. Right now I am just praying that the Lord will strengthen Kevin until he develops it for himself.
This makes me cry because I know what it's like to lose a loved one. My heart, love and prayers go out to you Kevin. 🙏 💜😭😪🙏💜

I have never met her but i feel the pain as if i did. I think ALL of us who decide to battle Cancer are connected. I often asked myself "WHO DO I THINK I AM TRYING TO BATTLE CANCER" I've wanted to throw in the towel often. I pray for her and ALL the care givers of Cancer warriors. I know we put you through hell and YOU are in the battle too. I pray some day the Medical industry will attack Cancer with a cure/vaccine the way they attacked Covid.

When something affects EVERYONE and they see they and their loved ones are vulnerable then they let the magical cat out the bag. Guess not enough important people "in their eyes" have died enough for them to care. They haven't shared the cost of medication/vaccine procedures until now so you are right. YOU have the illness and suffering along with them too. It is exhausting on the person and the caregiver. So thank you. The medication makes us often mean and forgetful. It's toxic and narcotic base causes so many mood swings. Often we don't notice our behavior or just too exhausted to care. Please forgive our behavior when trying to stay alive. We love you.
