So when Tool were recording at Sound City Studios, there were a Bolivian Pipe Band playing in the parking lot. So Tool recorded them and made it the intro to this Ted Nugent-inspired song. Their song was called "Oruro Tierra de Ensuenõs" (a province known as the World of Dreams)

You really should react to Acid Hologram by Deftones if you haven’t yet. It’s such a hidden gem from their album Gore. Also Hole in the Earth from Saturday Night Wrist is amazing as well.
I’d say closer to Soundgarden in this era. Both bands messed around with time sigs. Tool puts a lot more emphasis into the drops, imo. Also think Maynard is putting a lot of work in. On later LPs it feels like he’s more restrained and picks moments.
