I don't agree with this explanation. It completely ignores the forward momentum advantage of the pin point serve. I just learned the Marat Safin pinpoint serve and have no issues with the timing whatsoever. In fact, it feels much more relaxed and natural to me compared to staying in a more restricted stationary position like with the platform stance. The movement makes the pinpoint stance feel more dynamic and flowing to me. I can do platform stance as well, have been using that up to this point.

That serve at 4:45 is gold.

Just watched this today along with the "Elbow your enemy" video. Both game-changing! Much more power on my serve and a higher percentage of serves went in. Also felt effortless and my serve finally had the proper rhythm I've been missing. Thanks, Jeff!

I like platform as well. More efficient AND you can get to the net quicker when serve and volleying!

Hi Jeff, great content as always. Could you elaborate on the physical limitation to loading off your back hip. Is this a physical barrier that means some players can never use the platform stance or just a weakness to be improved?

Watching Tsonga and Nadal play at Wimbledon and both are using the pinpoint serve. They seem to be getting plenty of spin an power. Are you saying the platform serve is easier for most players or that you need to be an advanced player to hit the best pinpoint serve?

Great video! Started experimenting with pinpoint because it felt like it was getting me into the court more. But the platform is the best as you explained it. Less complicated mechanics are easier to master

No doubt Jeff you're the best most comprehensive tennis coach on you tube. Where you are superior is you break down technique in an interesting way and always say why you think the best way and acknowledge other ways that work successfully for other players. I appreciate the open minded lessons and not a juvenile my way or the highway approach.

I started with platform, went over to pin point and now I want to go back to platform. Thanks Jeff. Btw I hope you could share more on your racket like why U like the pro drive and pros and cons of 27 inch vs 27.5 inch . :)

I think I'm the person who has limitations for the platform stand. Do you know how can I ameliorate this situation coach?

  • @TimmieTennis

Pinpoint better for flat and slice serves because strike point is higher. Platform best for twist serve because easier to rotate shoulder.

I used to have trouble with foot-faulting when I served with pin point. I went to a platform based on your earlier videos and problem solved. Now if I can just develop the drive that you get off the backfoot!

So why you think a lot use pint point (women a lot; not kerber)? I prefer platform also

If you love so much to help other people, why did you complain about Vspighel? I guess you don't like to be criticized! Why didn't you, with a open mind, started a healthy discussion about tennis?
Because of your complains, his RUclips channel was pulled down.

Andre Ramos I never complained. I encourage different opinions. I don’t agree with the channel being shut down at all
