@BY119ROCK The Party Boys started in 1992 and toured round various venues in Scotland, including Ayr,Greenock,Perth,Glasgow and Dunfermline . Tommy Eyre was never on keyboards,at the beginning Ronnie Leahy (ex Stone The Crows and session musician for Jon Anderson and John Martyn) played keyboards until Ted,Chris and Zal persuaded Hugh McKenna to take over.
I still have this gig on video (gathering dust somewhere). I'm big fan of Purple but don't as yet have much of Ian's solo (solo) stuff ie. outside of his band Gillan. My old work colleague from Glasgow has met Ted McKenna a few times (i'm sure he's from Coatbridge way!?)
@BY119ROCK Cheers for the info, much obliged. I'll need to check those albums out. Believe it or not but my dad used to play guitar in various semi-professional bands in the 60's and 70's and his old group backed Tear Gas at the Kilmarnock Grand Hall in the late 60's. He met Zal. My dad's band also backed Slade and Quo down at the Caledonian Hotel in Ayr in the early 70's.
@Deeperpurple1952 Yeah that album from '79 is class, intelligent hard rock at it's finest. Glory Road and Future Shock were of a similar quality as well imo.
Chris Glenn, Ted McKenna, Tommy Eyre. All from the final line up of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band... Wow, I was just waiting for them to break out into Midnight Moses or something!!! (which would have been awsome, the only thing wrong with Gillan/MSG is that the material is weak :-o ) Anyone got the date for this?

Saudoso Ted Mackenna RIP com a camisa do Flamengo 🤘😍🇧🇷
Steve Morris on guitar.
Отличная команда! Гиллан рулит! 👍💜
A better title would be Ian Gillan with the SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND rhythm section.
MSG too

Love the Mr. Universe album - sort of bluesy as well as rock . . . .
@BY119ROCK Didn't know Mr Eyre (RIP) played with them. He did session work on Gerry Rafferty's two biggest albums, City To City and Night Owl.
@bigcumba Cheers for the info and for confirming that.

One thing about Ian - he could always put a new band together lol.

You're weak!
