    I am a beginning knitter,just like your previous commenter, Aerrowfly... This is the first patterned piece I have ever attempted, your directions are clear and very well explained for a beginner, but geared so a seasoned knitter will enjoy them too! I thank you....Joanne

    My circular needle cables are all too long so I’m trying this with double pointed needed (my first experience them!). So far, so good. I’m up to R3 after the ribbing.

    I've done this hat in the round and it turned out great thank you for the pattern. I'm now trying it Flat but on row 13 there are multiples of 7+1 instead of 12+1. it's adding more but not taking any way with K2tog or ssk. How can I fix this?

    Love your videos! You are so easy to understand. The only thing missing for me is not knowing the weight of yarn to use ( ie #+4 #5 or baby weight., and the amount of yarn necessary to complete the project. This info prepares us for shopping day and other yarn options should we not be able to purchase the yarn you instruct with. I am so greatful for your generosity and your willingness to share your talent and time. You are the blessing that makes this world of ours a pleasant place to live in. My God grace you with His goodness for your willingness to bring goodness to us.

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад

      It's a #3 light weight. I had a 5oz ball of yarn and only used less then half. A 3oz ball might work okay.

    • @LizKS48
      @LizKS48 10 лет назад

      Morley Braun What I do when a pattern doesn't specify weight or yardage is look it up on google. Just google the yarn that was used and it will take you to an online store or even Ravelry where all the specifics for the yarns can be found. In this case she used the Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly Yarn which is a light wt. worsted yarn that has 446 yds for the solid colors and 360 yds for the Ombres. Either one is more than sufficient for a hat. :)

    Or maybe, there is something wrong at the beginning ?

    "Cut the yarn, sew up top of your hat and remaining threads and enjoy" I'm a total beginner (only ever made scarfs before) and I really wanna make this hat, but I'm a little confused about what that means, and do I have to switch to DPN? How do I sew up the top of my hat?

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад

      You would thread your cut yarn onto a large eye sewing needle and weave it through your remaining stitches. Pull tight, feed your yarn through the center of your hat to the inside. You can either knot your yarn or weave it around the center of the inside of your hat a couple of times and then trim your remaining yarn. With all your other loose threads do the same, by weaving them to the inside of your hat and trimming.
      For DPN's it's only if your stitches get too tight. You can find ways to finish without them.

    Thank you for the pattern! Only one question. Why do you use a 24" cord instead of a 16" cord? I would think the 24" would be too big. I've never used a 24" before so I'm curious. :)

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад

      Either length cord would work fine. I think my 16" was being used by something else at the time. When the 24" becomes too big, I just used the magic loop method to help accommodate the stitches.

    • @PleasantSeas

      Most hats are made on circular needles to avoid sewing the back seam. Check out my other hat videos for more patterns.

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад +1

      These are the interchangeable set, I don't really think that the cables are different for each type. You could try warming the cable with your hands before using, maybe it will soften.

    What does [SSK]9 10 times&[SSK]4 6 times?? Could anyone help me out?? A bit confused here...

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад

      You slip, slip knit (ssk) 9 or 10 times, depending on which size you're making. Same with the other one. Slip, slip knit (ssk) 4 or 6 times, depending on size.
      The first number is a small/medium and the # in () is medium/large.

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  11 лет назад +1

      Rows 17-19 of the decrease? A SSK you just slip the stitch from the left needle to the right, then slip the next one as well. Now insert your left needle in the front of the two slipped stitches on the right and knit them together.

      I'm just learning knitting for several months. I just wanna make sure I understand your instruction fully. Do you mean I should work the leaf pattern flat first then continue with shaping crown following your written instructions? Thanks a lot for your reply

      *****
      there is 1 more question. In this pattern you are using size 4 and 6 needles. Is it right to use size 4 needles for row 1-10 at the beginning. Then size 6 needles for leaf pattern flat and shaping crown ??? i'm gonna work on this pattern right after receiving your answers.Thanks in advance./.

    • @PleasantSeas
      @PleasantSeas  10 лет назад

      justforyou090
      Yes, follow the flat pattern instructions and then the crown instructions. You start the rib with size 4 then when you work the body pattern (leaf) switch to size 6 needle.
