Thanks for sharing this. Where do you think it is best to put the writing sample? On LinkedIn or put together a portfolio on a website such as Wordpress or Medium?

Thank you for your question! There's a fine line between writing Sample and writing Example.
A writing Sample is a written composition that you can keep to yourself and present to employers / potential clients to give them a snapshot of your writing prowess.
A writing Example is a publicly accessible composition often found on a LinkedIn profile, personal website or even a blog.
Every writer, regardless of experience level, needs to have writing samples. Some writers have writing Examples as well.
A writing sample is composed only by you - i.e. you are showing what you can do as as independent author. Whereas, a writing Example can be a project where you work on your own OR one where you served as a co-author.
Here's a personal story: I initially created my writing Samples when I was striving to break into the professional writing field. After I landed my first industry position, I converted my writing Samples into writing Examples and shared them on my LinkedIn profile so that other writers may read it and take away ideas relevant to them.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Please feel free to ask any follow-up questions.
