john mclaughlin is a amazing guitar player, covered so many styles,my fave electric guitarist, and also one of my fave acoustic players, the peak of his acoustic playing is with the original shakti line up,but his work with paco and al is also amazing..great pick technique, years also i used to play acoustic with a pick, but got into flamenco, and dont ofeten play acoustic with a pick these days, saying that,i cant play picado nearly as fast as with the pick, pacos picado was super human
Indeed, John Mclaughlin is one of the biggest names in my book ( like Frank Gambale and the late Allan Holdsworth). How about this one where he plays" Cherokee" with a big band , ruclips.net/video/28R0BICfXSs/видео.html All the best from Belgium
Choice of notes, his phrasing. his spontaneity, all this is unique, it is typical of John, the Master.

i think john and paco took a lot from each other, pacos band in the 70s was basically a flamenco/jazz fusion crossover, the connection is india
