Given your tool purchases, you really didn't have to donate and for such a big amount. It really is a lot and is very much appreciated. Of course I will recognize you for this and give you a shout-out in an upcoming blacksmithing video. And I will email you... Thanks so much. 😬
Hi David, I appreciate your kind comment. But maybe I'm just a jack-of-all-tongs and master of none! Anyway, I'll continue with the tong videos for sure. Thanks.
I think each version has its strong and weak points. Once I get this style down the way I like, I may offer this version for sale. Thanks for all your big support.
My smithing teacher had an obsession with this type of tong. He always said that the box-jaw [or pass-through] style joint was much stronger because it wouldn't warp as easily. This is definitely a project I'm going to try once I can get the forge burning again!
I think that your version looks stronger in the pass-through area Glen. The slot that I seen had a larger slit in it that seems to me would create a cold shut crack at some point in the future. Yours was well rounded out with no place for that type of failure to occur.
Hi Ron, I also like this tong. I think once I get my steps down better I can offer this version for sale as it definitely works. Thanks for everything you've done for the channel.
Your stuff is so clean. I been watching for years. I finally got an anvil. Post vise and forge. Now I been watching how to make tongs because I don’t have any yet.Your forgings are always so clean. I hope that one day I will get a pair of your world famous GSTONGS. Never stop.
Hey Brett, Good to see you in the comment section. And thanks for emailing me interesting videos. I will offer this style of tong for sale once I make a few small changes. Talk to you later my friend.
This is the default style for tongs in the Mainland save for some places out in the far west. From the few shops I visited there's not much variation beyond flat and round jaws. They also tend not to be as well punched and drifted as your example but then mild steel is pretty forgiving and tools to make tools need not be pretty.
Still outside the box, I see, as is your wont! My pickup tongs are the first ones I made, they still work, but if you go into production on these let me know and I will order one.
Hey Bryson, I'm pleased with this tong. Once I get my steps down and with some adjustments I will offer this version for sale. If interested, let me know and I'll give you a discount for sure. Thanks for all.
Yours seems so much more refined. The other one looks like it was made in India and made to just be used. Craftsmanship is poor. Stress breakers on the inside where the joint is will fatigue at some point. Yours is outstanding.
Glen, I just recently watched your video about making the holdfast. that would have been a perfect took for holding this stock while you introduced the passthrough hole. Do you still have it?
Your work was much cleaner and look more robust. Not so sure I would go for tongs held together like that though, I'd be concerned that the divot area wouldn't be as strong and that it would wear down faster than the rivet type. What's your take on that?
I like the look of these and especially that theyre balanced so can be used in left or right hand, the falling over thing with the wrong hand has always bothered me .
My version of this tong is OK. I need to make a few adjustments and I think I could consider selling this version as they are nice to use. Thanks for all.
OK you hit a sweet spot❤for me you want to send me a set of tongs🈚the ones you made on this show are the ones But only if you put your makers mark on them... Be well and be safe👍............birdmanbill
Hey bill, Email me please with your mailing address and I will get the tong sent to you, no problem. You can have this one or I will make you a completely new one of the same style. I appreciate all of your support. Glen 😬 gstongs@gmail.com
Thanks!

Really neat idea. I do like the look of your stye over the one that you were given.
Thanks, I'm hoping to offer this style for sale once I get my steps where I want them.
Looks like another great alternative tool in the tool box. I really like the texture on the reigns.
Thanks for sharing Glen!
That texture is nice but maybe a bit too heavy after handling this tong for a while. I'll continue with this one. Thanks for all.
It's easy to see that you are the master of making Tongs.
Hi David, I appreciate your kind comment. But maybe I'm just a jack-of-all-tongs and master of none! Anyway, I'll continue with the tong videos for sure. Thanks.
Very nice take on the design. Personally I like the aesthetic of your version much better.
Hi and thanks for your kind comment. I think both versions have their positives and negatives. I will continue to perfect my version.
I absolutely love this set of tongs! Very cool Glen! I like your style of slot better!

I'm pleased with this tong and will continue to perfect my design. The version I tried to copy is also really nice. Thanks for all my friend.
Nice job very unusual design appears to function well
Tony
Yeah Tony, this tong works well. A few changes here and there and I think it could be a sellable style. Thanks for your support.

I appreciate your support of my version. I still want to make some adjustments but overall I'm happy with this tong. Thanks.
Like that design, and quite functional.
Hi Ron, I also like this tong. I think once I get my steps down better I can offer this version for sale as it definitely works. Thanks for everything you've done for the channel.
Very interesting concept Glenn, they are cute they have dimples lol looking forward to next-gen..see Yeah Glinn👍🤙👏👋
Haha! That's a good one. But the way I went about this joint, the dimples may not even be necessary. Thanks for your support.
Nice tongs Glen, I was a little confused with the pivot but yeh, can see it now!
The way I went about this, it might not even need the dimples on each side. More to come... Thanks for all Paul.
Checkin it out first . I love your style man
Here's your first place trophy. 🏆Glad you enjoy watching. Thanks.

Good luck in your blacksmithing.
Excellent video! Thanks Glen!

I look forward to that.
Beautifull. Great work Mr Glen 😍
I appreciate you continuing to watch my channel.

Very nice tong.
I'm mostly pleased with this tong. Thanks Randy.
your on to something there Glen...
Yeah John, I like this style and once I perfect my version, I may offer this version for sale on my website. Thanks.
Still outside the box, I see, as is your wont! My pickup tongs are the first ones I made, they still work, but if you go into production on these let me know and I will order one.

What's your take on that?
My thoughts as well about the divot area being weaker than a riveted joint. Full marks for a good looking and well made set of tongs though.
As ever, fab!
Hey Richard, I'm trying... I'll continue with the tong videos for sure. Thanks.
Beautiful work.

Very nice sir
Thanks as always my friend.
