    I love my second gen Xterra, great reliable daily driver and a beast off road, and the SMOD issue is an easy fix. Much better than the 6 Jeeps I used to own. And every bit as reliable as the two Toyota TDRs I had in the past.

      I've had 3 second gens and each time I sell them I regret it! Won't buy a 1st gen again, but the 2nd gen is a great vehicle. Honestly, every vehicle has flaws, but this is an excellent choice for anyone getting into offroading or softroading who doesn't insist on paying Toyota Tax for a 91 4runner with 400k on it!

    It is a nice beautiful car even in 2024. Tall, strong and bulletproof.

    Love the Xterra. 05 to 09 production years you have to look out for SMOD too!

    Good to know, for when I start looking for a new to me vehicle.

    My 2008 is still going strong after 221K miles! Just did the cats, changed out the radiator right after I bought it to avoid the SMOD and just general overall maintenance! Soon it will be time for a timing set and water pump, but it sure beats car payments on something that doesn't even come close to this!

    Love my Xterra, but shes getting ready to make me poor -- my bank one cat is DONE. And the other 3 are originals on an '07, so really, how far behind can they be? Yeah, i love my X...

      Yeah, but those are very infrequent items you need to change. Why not go with some high-flow cats, that will also add value for resale when the day comes, but better than losing your engine....Some people just run test-pipes on the rear and HFC's on the fronts, saving you a ton on parts and gaining some more of those valuable HERSPOWERS. Don't sell it, I (Rob) regret selling mine 6/7 days a week LOL

    If that's all you have to complain about, then that's one tough vehicle. Love my 09.

    Iteresting about the bolt pattern on the wheels. Any ideas why it was unique on this truck?

    • @sushi_cars
      @sushi_cars  Год назад +1

      a lot of cars have super rare bolt patterns. Like our in-house cars; Cappuccino, Legacy, Xterra, etc
      SUPER hard to find those specific wheels -_-

    Omg I had the catalytic converter issue... My motor seems ok (still strong and runs good) but now my xterra eats a quart of oil every 1k miles 😬
    Oil is cheaper than an engine swap so there's that.

    Yep you pretty much nailed it, i love mine and its been one of the most reliable vehicles I've driven. But it does have its quirks

      @@sushi_cars it's funny because I came here to argue with you because of the title but after watching the video I'm like "yep, he's right." 😂

    • @sushi_cars
      @sushi_cars  5 месяцев назад

      @jerrywasaracecardrvr thanks man! There's a lot more reasons why it's awesome, we've had 3 of them in this gen and 2 of the previous gen. The bigger, fatter, 2nd gen is 100% one of our all time favorites though. If gas wasn't so high, and my (Rob's) garage roof, so low, I'd have another right now.
      Got bored because I could barely get it in my garage with bigger tires and no lift, and ultimately wanted 35s, titan swap and at least 2in lift. Just wasn't going to happen.

    Actually they are like almost 180+ wheel options on Tirerack for the Xterra buddy.

    It seems like the tow hitch rusts very quickly. I put one on my 2011 Pro-4X, avd it rusted in less than a year.

      @@sushi_cars that tow hitch is a POS. Oddly, my frame is barely rusted at all after 13 years.

    Dodge Dakotas from the 90s have the same bolt pattern FYI

    So 1st gen is way to go? I have a 2004 yellow 4wd with 5sp manual bought from the original owner, garage kept. Just dont like th cheap plastic bumpers that are always uneven.
