I live in Russia and I can't describe all the ways Steve influenced my life with his punk ethos, his honest attitude, his big heart and, of course, his talent. He proved with his life that doing things on a human level is possible, that you don't have to be big and important to touch people's hearts and that music is not some exclusive unattainable endeavour. Thank you for everything. May your soul rest in peace, dear Steve.

The Man… When someone you’ve never met but has had such incredible influence on your life dies early suddenly, it hurts like family.

When Shellac put out 1000 Hurts, it was some rumours (gossips actually) that Shellac refused to play in Brazil (I’m from Brazil) because the quality of the gears it wasn’t good enough for the band. I’m 2008 Shellac went to Brazil and Argentina, has done a tour, played in a lot small venues and part of the tour, they played in small cities in Brazil in very modest gears for free. Steve Albini, tremendous respect for him and for his passion for the music. RIP
