Can drugstore makeup for mature women create an amazing look? Are $5 products really able to make mature skin glow? We're about to find out! :)
In this video, I show how older women can achieve a beautiful makeup look with inexpensive products from the drug store. Most items I use are under $5.
I compare my favorite high-end products side by side and encourage women on a budget to not overlook some beautiful and very surprisingly high-quality products from Catrice, Maybelline and Essence. My favorites were the Catrice Matte Lipstick and Pro Next Gen Eyeshadow palette!
To apply the makeup I did use the Tati Blendiful which is $18.

mi fa so la I agree! I would not risk products from a Dollar store. I also do not purchase cosmetics, shampoos, or body products from outlet stores like Winners, Marshall’s, etc (In Canada). Shelf life is critical and many product ingredients can spoil and oxidize - even our most trusted brands. I find Shoppers Drug Mart (a major drugstore) a good source and selection of product and staff are knowledgeable. Thursday’s are discount days and with loyalty points, I can purchase high quality brands with great savings.
I love the touch of shimmer. I don't think it's too dated or sparkly when applied the way you do it. It's an eye brightener! Makes your eyes look awake.

Update revised: I went to Family Dollar...and Dollar Tree. I also called Ulta...no such product as Catrice, Essence or Believe in those stores exists in Michigan. Dollar General has Believe and i did have to go to a few to find Believe and bought 12 items for under $50! And I bought the items that were made in Germany, Italy and USA. I've seen Catrice at Ulta but only online. One problem with some cheaper cosmetics is that many are made in China or Mexico and I never purchase products manufactured there. I order many of my cosmetics and skin care from companies that use the least amount of cancer causing ingredients. I keep a list of taboo ingredients on my phone so I know what to avoid.

You have gorgeous, poreless skin and that foundation is a perfect match for you. I love Catrice and Essence makeup as it often has a simpler ingredient list and far less fragrance. My holy grail foundation however is Max Factor Lasting Performance in 100 Fair. I kissed many foundation frogs to find it!
@@vals74 Hi to you.:D I have to say that I'm not sure but the fact that I react to even Simple products and Nivea and yet don't react to Catrice and Essence products would suggest they don't have fragrance. I certainly haven't noticed fragrance. Sensitivity however is a strange beast. We can be allergic to most inert of ingredients. I think the only way for you to know is to maybe trial a couple of their products but certainly my arid dry, eczema prone skin seems happy with all I've used so far.
Max Factor used to be available in the U.S. and I loved their stick concealer but we can’t get that brand here anymore!

Thanks for your channel. All kinda of useful advice. I do have a question. I’m 64 & a year ago I switched to cruelty-free preferably vegan products. I’ve noticed that nearly all the websites & RUclips channels who discuss this are very young & I can’t tell from their makeup reviews if the makeup would work for me. I would love it you let us know which products are cruelty-free.

Looking Pretty Margaret . I only buy drug store , supermarket and K Mart ( Walmart ) cosmetics these days . There is a lot of choice . Elf is one very popular brand . I don’t wear a lot of make up for everyday wear. Lately the most I wear is in my RUclips videos . Not worth Me spending extra money as high end is very expensive here . 😊 xxx

Thank you for your videos! I tried the Believe foundation, but the coverage is too heavy for me. Can you recommend a lower priced foundation that gives a dewy look-more like a tinted moisturizer? I don't like matte, full coverage. Thank you.
Does anyone use a less creamy lipliner that doesnt bleed into the lip/mouth lines? I used to use the Revlon and loved it, but they have changed their formula to too creamy for me. Thanks ladies :)
I honestly think that you don't need the makeup! For me, I find that a a little laprairie mask at night keeps me youthful and beautiful. The only problem I have found after 50 is that my hair is falling out. I hope you can do a video on that one day put. It's funny out in the daytime I watch this video for information and pleasure and conveniently at night it becomes an unintentional ASMR video!🙏💙 excellent

I really enjoyed this video, Margaret! I generally don't wear makeup except when I must for music and dance performances (am always eager to wash it off afterwards!). But the lively instruction you provided here was most helpful, and I'll probably follow up with an exploratory trip to my local Walgreen's, CVS, or Riteaid here in Southern California!

I agree. I follow Sharon Danley, a Canadian RUclipsr, who recommends that we women of a certain age look better with a bright lipstick. She did a side by side comparison and the difference was startling in how much better we look with a red lipstick. This past Xmas I was in Denver visiting my daughter and wearing a bright, red lipstick. A woman came up to me to tell me how great I looked in that lipstick. So, I went right to the Mac store and bought another.
I think it's completely to do with colouring. Margaret looks gorgeous in more muted peach Spring tones. I'm a Winter so look like Dracula's Granny if I don't wear a cherry red blue toned lip or gloss. So for me I am completely with you on no nude tones. However I can't wear eye shadow. I just look like a demented clown or a set of traffic lights....lol. However I adore good mascara. :D

I used to LOVE the smoky sexy eye look. That time has passed. I don't wear eyeshadow either. I think I found a nice thin eyeliner (for the outer corner) and waterproof mascara that doesn't make my eyes water. My skin is baby-butt white and have thin lips so I use a pinkish mauve iridescent lipstick. Gives me color and looks like I have lips.

I use blush very very cautiously so I don't end up looking like a clown..... I take whatever lipstick I am wearing and put a little dot on my left middle finger and a little dot on my right middle finger and apply it as a blush to my cheeks. It's amazingly creamy and compliments the product that I'm also using on my lips.. they happen to be the same product. Double duty and very complimentary.
I do like elf products and very reasonable price lovely small eye pallets and only 3 pounds I luv them and they do a lovely eye brow one similar to the one uv just used and it's only 3 pounds I think aswell great products great prices x

I always love spending a little time with you. This was fun and I appreciate your drug store comparisons to high end makeup. I really like the Maybelline Age Erase concealer and I use it much like you do. I really have not found a foundation that I like at all, but I sometimes use the Age Erase where I think I might need a little buffing-out. The eye palette is super pretty and the lip too. I'm a lip gloss kind of gal, and I like the Revlon Super Lustrous Glosses. There are several colors I like -- even a clear one. One thing I learned from my daughter is that many stores (Walmart, Walgreens) will allow you to return opened make up products if you don't like them, with your receipt, of course. Thanks for sharing, dearest!

I always check no animal testing, cruelty free and ethical...prepared to pay more and use less if necessary. What we buy shapes the world.
Wow, Switzerland must be expensive because the Milani foundation is $9.99 in U.S. drugstores, so $25 is very overpriced. Nonetheless, your final look came out beautiful.
