Montserrat Caballe - is the voice of an angel. Throughout her career, she has performed with some of the biggest names in lyrical singing. The Duo with Freddie Mercury, released in Barcelona in 1987, became the anthem of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe - Barcelona forever ! Eternal memory. . .🙏❤🙏
Incredible song, incredible performance of two genius of music! Freddie was seriously ill in those times and dying from AIDS, but didn't give up and continued to create his immortal masterpieces. Both had a magic powerfull voices! Freddie and Montserrat will never die in our memories and in our hearts!
Thank you, Montserrat Caballé, for giving Freddie Mercury the chance of a lifetime, by performing Barcelona, which was the used for the 1992 Olympic Games, just months after Freddie Mercury's tragic, premature death. RIP Freddie, Mr and Mrs Bulsara, Freddie's partner, Jim Hutton, and not forgetting Montserrat Caballé. 😥❤
@M H Doobs, yes, I am praying for her, Freddie Mercury, her family, Freddie Mercury's sister, her family, Freddie Mercury's parents, and his partner, Jim Hutton, too. She should have been on Freddie Mercury Saved My Life, with Alfie Boe, a TV documentary telling the story of how Alfie Boe made his mark, in opera music, cos she was a legend, in opera music, as well as Freddie Mercury, and Alfie Boe, in my humble opinion. 🙏😥❤
I totally agree that Freddie could sing anything and always sound beautiful. I also had chills listening to these two great voices. They are singing together in heaven and waiting for us all to join them.

if there's another thing, these two look EXTREMELY happy in each other's presence, and probably had a great deal of respect for one another. not only does the song make me feel happy, but how they seem to be really content with each other puts a smile on my face
I think they did. I believe I read Freddy who was a very private person despite his stage performances told her he was suffering from AIDS and she never revealed that to anyone but gave him a lot of emotional support.
@@judithmatthews8460 They became close friends very quickly when they worked together. Both had the utmost respect for the other's musical abilities, even though they were from opposite ends of the musical spectrum, and both were willing and eager to learn from each other. The anecdotes about when they met are adorable - Montsy was rather shy, and had no idea what to expect from this mad rock star, and Freddie was terribly nervous about meeting his favourite singer in the world. Then he began to play the piano, and all that disappeared. She was one of his closest confidantes for the rest of his (tragically short) life. May they be singing together again now.
@@neuralmute I like the story that Freddie was chuffed thinking that they would do one song together and she assumed that they, of course, would do an album. Freddie's like "Gulp, now I have to come up with an album's worth of songs". LOL Tickles me for some reason.
Freddie admitted that he was nervous and scared to death to have to perform next to the legend :) How many times has Freddie been made to feel like a schoolboy??? This is and has been beyond great. What a pairing.
I remember asking my Granny Anne, what her favourite song was when I was a child and she said this song. Granny Anne passed away 29 February this year and I hope you have got to meet Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé in heaven! 🙏🏻🇪🇸
Not just her voice, but her hands, her eyes, her movements, the range of emotions she conveys - what an incredible performer, what a massive stage presence. Mind-blowing.

I feel the same…it gives me goosebumps!!!!!!!
Your telling me. Lol for real
Listening to the song is an experience within itself. Even to say that this is a masterpiece it's simply not enough.
Every single time I'm listening to this, I'm crying like a baby. It's just unbelievable how you can literally hear them feeling the music, their talent and their passion. This song is absolutely overwhelming.
I told my son that Freddy Mercury had an operatic range and power that was unusual for a pop singer. And here we are in this performance seeing two of the most incredible singers to grace the stage. I am very moved and in awe
@ThatGreenDayFreak yes indeed!
So powerful
He is still not singing here with any opera style. Just same shit as with Queen.
@@BuyestFan well of course he’s not singing in an operatic style. That’s not what he’s known for. However he’s got great range and power and energy. Love him!
same here, its just incredible

Each time I'm listening to Barcelona, I am proud to be from Spain and that Monserrat ruled the world with an angel voice. Needless to say that the world also has lost a great singer as Freddy...
I listened to this as a kid. I knew nothing of music then. But I somehow knew Spain gave the world a gift with her. A fantastic duo
Thank you Vicenta.
I'm spanish too but please Freddie not Freddy
@@AndrewBarsky is catalan singuer not spanish😉
@@ricards5070 1st written correctly would be: She is A Catalan not a Spanish SINGER (singuer don’t exist in English, some respect). 2nd you don't know English. 3rd the comment did not refer to her city or what you may think is a nationality, he referred to her COUNTRY AND FROM WHAT I KNOW AND EVERYBODY KNOWS (EXCEPT FOR YOU ILLITERATE) IS SPAIN.
Sadly, this was the beginning of Freddie Mercury's decline in health. But no matter how bad it got, he still fought to the finish and made awesome music. He refused to let it taint his spirit. What a bloke!
Love this comment. Well said James.

Cheers to that!
We may never hear another voice like Freddie’s ever again. These videos immortalize him.
Not may... we will never hear another voice like that, it was his passion to the music that has make his voice and person, today´s and future´s singers will never have this option again. the capital of greed has taken over the business, so he was one of his kind
Look up Mark Martel. He’s Freddie reincarnate

The Best Olympic song EVER
Maybe best song ever 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé are going to be impossible to top especially in the current time of auto tune and electronic music.

Well said
I am in love with the way he just can’t help but make the same iconic Freddie Mercury stances when he sings. It’s brilliantly heartwarming.
The man was a true talent in every which way.
Thank you, Montserrat Caballé, for giving Freddie Mercury the chance of a lifetime, by performing Barcelona, which was the used for the 1992 Olympic Games, just months after Freddie Mercury's tragic, premature death. 🙏😥❤

A classic of rock and opera together no one else in the world could have pulled this off masterpiece!!
if there's another thing, these two look EXTREMELY happy in each other's presence, and probably had a great deal of respect for one another. not only does the song make me feel happy, but how they seem to be really content with each other puts a smile on my face
