Thanks. Watched all your tutorials. Really sped up the learning curve. Couldn't work out how to get the Mav working, till I went back over this vid - uncage!!!. Nice one!
Thanks so much for these tutorials, and prep that went into it! Great job. Just learned I need to hit TMS up twice sometimes, which was messing me up. Also learned the difference between pause and freeze...
no problems, I'm new to BMS so these videos have really helped me alot, I had to programme my MFCDs every time until I saw that one. I made a playlist of them and I watched them all a couple of times, you wont find a more in depth or exhaustive tutorial anywhere. It's even more useful than real fighter pilots lesson on the F16 that I've seen, this dude is too modest by far!
I second the need for a Bullseye tutorial. I have a general idea of what a Bullseye is but I have yet to know how to fully understand Bullseye calls and the fastest and most efficient way of getting to the Bullseye call if, for example, I get one from an AWACS calling out a Bandit.
***** I believe Krause did indeed make one. However, I believe I can answer some of your questions. The lower-left of your HUD gives a bullseye location of your own aircraft, and that data should also be repeated on the left side of your HSD. When locating targets with your FCR (fire control RADAR), the bullseye coordinates of your targeting cursor are also displayed. It's also displayed when a target is locked up.
Hey Krause, love your videos very helpful I am a big DCS player but slowly Been getting into falcon bms because of your videos. It got me thinking are you ex or current United States airforce or did you learn all of this on your own over time just wondering ? And thanks again for these helpful tutorials
+Krause dude, i didnt get to job today just to stay in home and learn how to find enemy in the field with FCR with your videos. Your videos will "ruin my life"! THANKS! I MEAN IT! hahaha
Great video. Please keep them coming. In addition, is there any chance of you creating some practice TEs that can be used to try out what we learned on your videos?
krause, you are the f#cking man!! i kept missing while hunting ships with the agm-65g in / sea / sp mode.. the carrot what i missed. most likely still out of range when i shot the missle. #rad
Hey! Your videos are pretty instructive and I got rolling fast on BMS thanks to that. But still, I got an issue. Say I'm shooting Mavericks. Everytime I lock up a target on the FCR instead on selecting the WPN page and letting me slew the missile, it goes somewhere else and if I select the Maverick as SOI manually it won't let me slew it. Keeps really slaved to the FCR. Any idea what's going on?
Hi Don't know if you got an answer,, but I could be due to that your FCR is locked to the current waypoint. Either change waypoint or go to snowplow-mode. I hope that helps you.
Krause, you winged devil- what do you consider a hard deck for the agm65, as well as a practical r max shot? I always overfly, and end up target fixated with my nose pointed at the ground/target.
hey man quick question. what version or block f16 are you using and I'm finding on the Israeli theater the IDF block 52+'s don't have HTS pods what f16 model would you use for "DEAD" missions and do the newer airframes have "HTS" built in? like the super hornet. thanks for all the help man F16's have always been a dream for me and now with your help I'm kickin ass taking names I'm not the best yet but I'm getting better all the time thanks for taken the time to do these they are a huge help man
ya i know I was just wondering if they may have internally stored HTS in newer fighter bombers, like they did with the sniper pod in the super hornet rather then creating drag with the pod. the reason the F-16 has pods is cause they came out with the tech after the air frame, hence the pods. what i'm asking is which block is the best for SEAD/DEAD cause you cant fit an HTS pod to all block variations of the F-16.
Google falcon 4 ports. You need to forward those ports on your router. Portforward com should be useful. Next, connect to yourself from the comms menu by connecting to 0.0.0.0 - your connection bandwidth should be your upload speed in kilobits, minus 200 or so. I have a 200 k/sec upload and my BW is 1800. Connect to yourself, then host. Now your friends will see whatever games you make if they connect to your actual wan IP.
In DCS I use the TGP in combination with the mav, I sometimes even use TMS right to lock on to things i can see on the TGP that the mav doesn't yet recognise and can engage targets at 15 NM instead of 5-9. Is this possible with the FCR and TGP in BMS?
I just started my first campaign yesterday and I did a CAS mission and I used 6 Mavs and all hit the targets but not did destroy any of them, it appears they did not impact, any idea why?
It is a fire and forget weapon, yes - once it's off the rail it independently tracks the target. The one exception is the laser guided maverick, but these aren't modeled in BMS.
when i press ag mode it doesnt even show hat sms thing or any weapons on my aircraft while im in the maverick training mission...what should i doooo.....
Hi. Please tell me, because i lost my mind: -i dont have WPN page in MFD (4:38), also i cant turn on and switch MFD modes trough '[' and ']' - in manual they said - use [ or ] to cycle MFD modes. -when i enable A-A or A-G, all MFDs are off. Maybe there is a wrong cersion issue? Ill be grateful for Your help
Demolition Mike I presume that in PRE mode, the Maverick's sensor is slewed based on the position info provided by the FCR or the various targeting pods.
In the A-10C at least, you set the TGP as SOI, then set the SPI to the current TGP position, finally slew all sensors to the SPI which should slew the MAVs to the SPI. Idk if that works the same way in BMS tho
Nope. There is no button on the MFDs for that function, as far as I know. I guess that's because the "Cage/Uncage" controller is placed either on the stick or on the trhottle knob (most probably the stick) - and there's no clickable action on these interfaces in the simulator. But I don't really know if i am right, that's just a hunch...
In the Setup Screen, on the Controller Option, you should look for a "WPN-Sidewinder-Cage/Uncage" in the key commands list at the right side of the screen. Click on the key related to it then press the button/key you want for that function. Although it may seem to be related only to sidewinders, this function also works - at least for me - for uncaging the Mavericks and bringing their images to show up on the "WPN" page of the MFDs. Also keep in mind that in the simulation, you need to select the WPN page in one of your MFDs, because the Maverick View only shows up in that specific page, not in the SMS, or TGP pages.
In my case, I have the U key as default key for that, but I've also configured the "Back" button on my Xbox 360 Controller. And I'm testing my F.L.Y. 5 joystick for a good button as well.
As this video is 2011 it can't be 4.33 but more likely 4.32. I don't want to be a pedant, but I'm feeling that it could be important as a lot of stuff has changed.
please use more words. you've only taken 15-20 minutes longer than anyone else would need to describe using mavericks. with a little more effort, i think we're looking at an extra 20 to 30 minutes!
Thanks. Watched all your tutorials. Really sped up the learning curve. Couldn't work out how to get the Mav working, till I went back over this vid - uncage!!!. Nice one!
The more I watch these videos the more I understand. Thank you
This is the best video tutorial about Mavericks I found on youtube for sure, you explain so good, thanks man!!
Thanks so much for these tutorials, and prep that went into it! Great job. Just learned I need to hit TMS up twice sometimes, which was messing me up. Also learned the difference between pause and freeze...

Thanks Krause, Just starting my IQT Training and I was having problems, until I watched this video. Great Work. Rhino
I am truly appreciative of your training video's..
Great video. Thanks again. Good to see Bore mode. Couldn't get that working - will go back and try.
You're a legend, I'm just getting into this and you have made it so much easier :) I managed to dig out my dusty Falcon 3.0 manual just for this mod.
Double click under a blank space near one of the OSB buttons and it will allow you to put in any page you want.
Amazing tutorial. Thank you very much.
I second the need for a Bullseye tutorial.

I'm gonna give it a try, right now. Thanks. =)
i liked the slav buttom on the screen

The closest I get to being military is that I design simulators for the military. :-)

So I have a problem... "U" does not uncage Maverick, but moves cockpit camera up.

another great video would you do a tutorial on the bulleye for bms
@truealcoholic Nope, that's probably footage from an agm-130, not a maverick.
Hi
Don't know if you got an answer,, but I could be due to that your FCR is locked to the current waypoint. Either change waypoint or go to snowplow-mode. I hope that helps you.
@tanit ok thanks anyway, thought i read that in a book called; vipers in the storm. it was about a maverick and seeing the impact or something.
Put it into snowplow mode (sp) on the FCR
Krause, your tutorials are fantastic. Do you have a patreon account?
When using the Maverick with the TGP do you use the visual mode? You didn't go over that.
Krause, you winged devil- what do you consider a hard deck for the agm65, as well as a practical r max shot?
I always overfly, and end up target fixated with my nose pointed at the ground/target.
You have any of these videos for download by anychance? To keep and to not have to load/stream them for referencing them at will?
What version of Falcon are you playing? I am new to this. Is this the original or Allied Force?
@truealcoholic I read vipers in the storm. They were probably watching the impact of one maverick with another maverick.
hey man quick question. what version or block f16 are you using and I'm finding on the Israeli theater the IDF block 52+'s don't have HTS pods what f16 model would you use for "DEAD" missions and do the newer airframes have "HTS" built in? like the super hornet. thanks for all the help man F16's have always been a dream for me and now with your help I'm kickin ass taking names I'm not the best yet but I'm getting better all the time thanks for taken the time to do these they are a huge help man

Pity about that, I'd love to use them.
(Also check out the AGM-123, basically a laser-guided bomb with a rocket booster on the back of it)

i'm guessing u use trackir right? can u play this without it?
Hi, What joysick are you using?
When I select Bore mode I'm unable to slew the Bore sight indicator on the HUD.. I must have missed something?
Me too. Might be the 4.33 disable this function?
Can the Maverick be used in conjunction with the TGP? If so, how?
Demolition Mike I presume that in PRE mode, the Maverick's sensor is slewed based on the position info provided by the FCR or the various targeting pods.

@sobe1205 Just load up the training TEs that come with BMS, they are decent.
How do you record voice+flight?
@tanit Better yet, simply copy the video link, go to keepvid dot com - paste the link and choose which resolution to download.
is there an OSB on the MFD for bringing up the maverick display (uncaging it as you mentioned)
Nope. There is no button on the MFDs for that function, as far as I know.
I guess that's because the "Cage/Uncage" controller is placed either on the stick or on the trhottle knob (most probably the stick) - and there's no clickable action on these interfaces in the simulator. But I don't really know if i am right, that's just a hunch...

how do you move the TD Box?
Does anyone know which buttons he's using to cycle between steerpoints?
wtf my U key wont uncage my maverick, but its it look up my view O.o?

Record video in FRAPS.
Thx for the video. i think it's too long.

@mwargo24 Better yet, simply copy the video link, go to keepvid dot com - paste the link and choose which resolution to download.
how to unlock left mfd cross?
This is bitch compared to what it used to be like! Thx for the tutorial
Dude I got the GOG version and it looks nothing like this! mods??
This is modded Falcon 4.0 which source code got leaked a few years ago and they build on that and the result you see here: Falcon BMS 4.33
I gotta DL that!
ShadowOps15 thanks for the info btw.
As this video is 2011 it can't be 4.33 but more likely 4.32. I don't want to be a pedant, but I'm feeling that it could be important as a lot of stuff has changed.
TheOriginalCoda That's correct. I just gave him the latest version just to prevent confusing.
Check out the previous tutorial video on settings and data cartridge.
