I think the Mannings knew what they signed up for with Arch going to a big school and having to wait his turn. If they wanted him to play early he would have gone to a smaller program.
These people have spent so much time hyping this kid, comparing him to Mahomes, Brady, Josh Allen, that now they need excuses if he doesn’t perform like CJ Stroud.
Luke Getsey is gone. No more multiple middle screen calls from inside your own 10 ... in the same series. Seems like Waldron did OK in Seattle. Geno Smith was the QB reclamation project of the decade.
The pressure of being the #1 Pick in the Draft is the one thing you can’t replicate in college. It’s going to be interesting to see how Williams handles it.
Really Bruce? The obvious cop-out is to compare Patrick Mahomes, and the situation he stepped into as a player. So I guess having a top 5 defense, a coaching staff that finished strong to end the 2023 season, and is an upcoming team in the NFC is a CONCERN? I think Caleb Williams is going to be just FINE with the Bears. No concerns for me.
Caleb has been an adult and has handled everything pretty well thus far. This guy is worried about who he leans on. That’s an old school method and mentality. Why would you need anyone when you have such a strong focus and willingness to excel.
I would love to see Penix or Nix go to Sean in Denver. He can usually develop QB's. He might be able to make Wilson serviceable, which is saying a ton...
I hate the idea of bringing in veteran QB on the team. It can actually can be worse for a young QB. Andy Dalton and Nick Foles ended up being terrible for Fields. We learned both QB's wanted to start so bad that they had no interest in helping him. Maybe you get on the phone with Ryan Tannehill and verify that he'd be OK with being a mentor, never starting and possibly not even being the 2nd string QB. If he's not OK with that, its a hard pass.
There is zero evidence that Dalton and Foles had no interest in helping Fields. Dalton continues to get jobs. Foles got another one after Chicago even as it was clear he couldn't get through a game without getting hurt. QBs who keep getting jobs when they aren't starting are almost always good teammates. It is part of their job. Fields failed because he wasn't as good as you think he was. Get over it.
They should have signed Cam that year. He would have provided better mentorship from his experience starting day 1 as the first overall pick and losing a SB. Plus it would be a QB who plays in a similar style to Fields. But let’s not bash Dalton or Foles; Nagy was the one who decided not to open up the QB competition in training camp. He deserves that blame
Archie Manning will be a Giant in 2 years. The longer he stays as QB2 the better draft value he'll become to the Giants. He will play in the NFL. He has the pedigree and physical attributes to not take a chance even with limited playing time.
I’m mean seriously what more does a team need to do. Proven offensive coordinator. Two pro bowl receivers two top 15 tight ends and a top 10 defense. Come on, because they don’t have a veteran backup Qb. Did stroud? Did Burrow? Did luck? Time to get new voices on the airwaves
Those guys were also bad to average their first year CJ took a couple weeks to figure it out, we know what eventually happened to luck plus in those cases it helped that the AFC south is a joke outside of Jacksonville and I like Richardson I’m just saying. Burrow struggled his first year and eventually got hurt. It worked out for them but that’s not everyone story
Enough. The Bears set up everything for Caleb. He’s in a better situation now than the majority of draft picks. If he fails then that is on him since all I’ve heard is he’s a generational talent. Already hearing the excuses for him.
Ohio State never had a star QB in the NFL until last year. Bears getting their franchise QB on Thursday that ever QB needy team would LOVE. Stay mad lol
Hey - they got a great franchise QB about 70 years ago - the name of Sid Luckman. One of the early T-formation QBs. Didn't the Bears flatten the Washington Redskins 40-0 in the 1940 NFL championship?
When a college QB tends to run away from the pocket a lot and make plays on the run they instantly compare him to Mahomes. That's like comparing a bicycle to a Ferrari because they both use wheels. The two are nothing alike, their personalities aren't similar, their journeys aren't similar, their leadership styles aren't similar, their games aren't similar and their situations in the NFL aren't going to be similar. Expecting Williams to be Mahomes is going to be a huge disappointment for some.

He used the fired GM now, into a terrible deal that they won. Brice Young is a good prospect under a poor supporting system; the same as Caleb if he lands in Chicago
Agree with the assessment of Michael Penix Jr. He is very underrated.
I like Waldron the OC at Chicago. Did great things with Geno Smith but they need OL help. When Seattle OL failed the Seattle O failed.
I think the Mannings knew what they signed up for with Arch going to a big school and having to wait his turn. If they wanted him to play early he would have gone to a smaller program.

The Offensive coordinator for the Bears spent 2 seasons in Seattle rejuvenating Geno Smith's career. How is he unproven???
I don't know what the hell he meant by that. Sounds like he doesn't know a damn thing he's talking about
Also didn't mention Ryan Griffin on the staff who is a 10 year QB veteran.

Yep. Good luck with the screen passes Raiders lol
This draft will separate good teams from bad teams for years to come.
Thats why the Cowboys front office is so nervous
He'll be fine, they were 7-10 last year and greatly improved the roster. There will be growth pains but by year two he's solid

Two things in this video really surprised me. I had no idea Kieth Richards knew anything about American Football, and he had really let himself go.

An unproven OC at Chicago? Obviously, he doesn't know anything about the OC in Chicago.
not unproven but he sucked in seattle
anybody come from the Shanahan tree is almost a success....
@ryangross6599 how? He rebuilt Geno's career?

The Bears know how to draft great middle linebackers, but the last really good QB they got was Sid Luckman - more than 70 years ago.

My Patriots should draft JJ over Maye or Daniels. They shouldn't make the fans pick, which is Maye or Daniels, that would set us back at least 4 yrs
