  • After seeing so many negative comments about Polène's customer service and leather quality, I had to make this video about the brand. Are the complaints really based on truth or is there something else going on? The answers are in the video!

    Hello everyone! I want to talk to you about my previous Polène video, where I discussed the recent complaints about the brand’s drop in quality. It turns out one RUclipsr was not happy with me using only a few seconds of their footage showing Polène bags, so they threatened my channel with a copyright strike. Since this is a fairly new channel and everything’s going pretty well so far, I didn’t want to get a strike, so I re-uploaded my video with different footage. I just wanted to share my disappointment because the video was going great and it was filled with comments of your appreciation and support.       that's crazy! isn't it allowed for to use under the fair-use policy or like for educational purposes? Polene really working double time here.

      I did enjoy watching the video so I’m not trying to be mean, but since you mentioned your channel is fairly new, you should probably become familiar with copyright rules and policies.
      “Only a few seconds” is still using their content without their consent. That is considered copyright infringement.
      Directly from RUclips’s rules:
      “The first rule of copyright
      Creators should only upload videos that they have made or that they're authorised to use. That means that they should not upload videos that they didn't make, or use content in their videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programmes or videos made by other users, without necessary authorisations.”

      @vkhng Make sure to check the next page. “Copyright exceptions are laws that allow you to reuse someone else's copyright-protected material without getting their permission, but only under certain circumstances.”
      If you're critiquing, commenting, or reviewing something and making it a part of what you're saying (like a story), it falls under fair use.

    Thank goodness I purchased mine before all these issues and before they became huge. Polene was reviewed by Tanner Leatherstein on RUclips and then all of a sudden their bags became really popular. I personally think these companies send the best quality bag to reviewers and the bags that they actually sell are of lesser quality. Too bad. Honestly, even if they try to change I will never purchase a Polene bag again.

    Isn't this partly due to influencers promoting the bag, leading it to be more commercialised. Hence they are pushing out bags of lower quality to meet demand. Just my opinion

      Instead of being thankful for the popularity and treating new customers well, they failed them and most will not come back. This poor quality is not what influencers promised.

      That's exactly what's happening and has happened to all luxury bags. The quality is horrid and the prices keep going up. Luxury is dead.

      Companies have a mission statement and they do not need to push out poor quality products for a cash grab.

    I'm really surprised by this video. I have bought two Polene bags. I bought the second one in March 2023 (Number 9 in beige) and had absolutely no problem. Delivery was quick and the bag was perfect. I've used it a few times and it's still gorgeous.

      Same here, Polene is so underrated but these are super quality bags and no argument on that. But I must also admit that most of those live in Asia are not much aware of this super uniquely designed bags. I guess it is due to the brand wars of the other French brands.

    This is such a shame. I’ve only recently started seriously thinking about purchasing a bag in this price range (so far Aimee Kestenberg is my priciest bag), and I’ve been doing a ton of research. One thing that strikes me about Polène is their incredible marketing and art direction - the website and ad campaigns are absolutely gorgeous, with beyond-amazing distinct location shoots for each bag. It looks like they sent their creatives everywhere from the Faroe Islands to the Sahara!! You mentioned Polène having the potential to be on a par with Michael Kors. Seems to me that perhaps they are already spending like a Michael Kors-level brand, and quality and customer service are being sacrificed as they over-extend themselves. It happens all the time, and rarely ends well.

      Me too! Are there any other brand you are looking at? For me I am looking for a practical crossbody bag because I am avoiding big bags (because of my petite silhouette) and shoulder bags (because my shoulders became crooked after carrying too heavy stuff in it). Other mid range bags that caught my attention are aspinal of London, sezane milo/Claude and apc.

      @@mina0398 Strathberry comes to mind! The style RUclipsr "Daily Helen" made a really good video a little while ago on her top rated mid-range handbags, so that might be worth checking out for you.

      But i think now Michael Kors bags cannot be compared with a brand like Polene. Kors has been trying to make money so they also sell cheaper bags with low quality in the factory outlets. Kors has their own high quality bags line called Michael Kors Collection , made in Italy only and with $2000 price tags. But high class people wouldnt spend their money on MK bags where they can also catch someone also wearing MK bags paying only $150 or even lower.
      But Polene , up until now you cannot find someone wearing Polene and paying under $200 for their Polene. Because at least all Polene bags are made in Spain. Unlike MK bags, most of them are made in the Phillipines / Vietnam. Thats why we can find MK bags with $150 price tag. So ya such a shame now that Polene quality is degrading. Because Polene doesnt have much store and really making the rarity very upgrading those who wear one.

      I just purchased my numero Dix in Camel (June 2024), and it's absolutely gorgeous. The leather is as of high quality as can be, and I received it within a week. It's not fair to base your opinion on what someone may have said. One of the instances in the video, I'm sure, was a mail delivery service fault, stolen and opened goods.

    I have bought polene bags in different occasions and owns 3 currently. Never had any issue with shipping or quality of the bag. Not siding with polene but i take good care of my stuff (any brands) so they last longer. Based on my experience, i’d still buy some items from them.

    Good to know that I’m not missing out. Confirms that it’s best to use what I’ve got (Longchamp, Coach, Arket) and save my money.

    My experience with Polene has been positive. I made contact with the brand via email to ask about a leather shoulder pad accessory for my numero un mini’s chain and received a reply very quickly. They also followed up with an image of the item as it wasn’t on their website. The purchase was made via email communication and shipped to me internationally within a week. My bag was purchased several years ago, which made me wonder if the colour of the leather accessory would be slightly different, but I’m happy to say it was a perfect match. I’m happy to report my numero un mini is still in immaculate condition, with all parts intact . 😊

    This is why I’m starting to be more interested with vintage items because they’re much better quality. I also follow leather crafts man’s RUclips channel. They explain what makes products better and what to look for.

    Hello! I have a Polene bag for more than 2 years and the bag Looks like new. I will Say I cannot appreciate for a person who doesn’t have quality issue to make a video like “I have heard that some other people have issues with the bag…” this is not fair for the brand

    Partly due to them sending bags to influencers who then hype up the bags and cause their viewers to want to buy from them. They then have to push out more bags and as a result the quality goes down. My mom is a seamstress and has worked for a few companies. She worked on quality not quantity, but the companies wanted it the other way around. They would let people who didn’t know what they were doing sewing stuff and be sloppy at it. She even had a contract with Wal-Mart sewing something and because they wanted to make it for cheaper and a lot faster they sent everything to Mexico.

    I love the design and aesthetics of Polene bags for the past 2 years since I’ve first discovered the brand. They look so chic! A few times I have been extremely close, but I dare not purchase one due to the complaints I’ve read in a lot of the reviews… I figured if I wanted the bag it will be safer to take a trip into one of their shops to personally inspect the quality of the bag than risk ordering online and having to go through the stress of dealing with their customer service which I’ve also read is terrible. Unfortunately the shops are overseas and I have no immediate plans to travel to those countries. Yes, they are not high end luxury designer prices, but I do not wish to throw my hard earned money away if I can help it.

    this is sad to see as i have a bag from them since 2019 and it still looks practically new after so much use. I also bought another bag in 2022, and it was delayed. I contacted customer service, and they even sent me a free matching card holder since my package was delayed! That was great customer care, but in 2023 I noticed the customer service going downhill. I still think majority of the bags are still good quality though!

    I appreciate this. I have been eyeing this brand recently and was planning to purchase from them next time I wanted a new bag. It’s disappointing to hear this, but at least now I can save myself from a bad experience.

    I visited the Polene store in NYC in early September of this year hoping to purchase one of the designs I have been interested in for months. I spent about 45 minutes looking through their options and I noticed that their leather quality didn't seem up to par. I am so sad as I do love their designs. Hopefully they will reevaluate how they do business and get to the quality they once had.

      Oh that makes me sad. I've had my eye on a bag for a while and was going to buy it for myself for Christmas. I suppose it's not meant to be. I'm sure I will find a different bag elsewhere.

      I second this! Been eyeing their bags for ages now, went to the store in October and was shocked that only one of their bags was of decent leather quality. The rest didn't feel supple at all. Thought I was tripping out but glad I wasn't the only one who thought so now, what a pity!

      I bought a numero un bag back when it was first released but sold it a long time ago. No regrets…the brand has become less sexy imo. It was an ifkyk brand but now it’s just like any other contemporary brand coach, MK, etc.

    If the leather's peeling, they're using bonded leather - a leather veneer on top of recycled backing. I think it might actually be worse than faux leather.

      Leather worker here: it might be bonded leather, which is basically leather scraps merged with glue (same thing with bonded wood you get from Ikea). Another possibility is they're using low quality leather and using way too much paint and finishes, so it peels the more stress or movement the piece undergoes.
      I'm willing to bet it's the latter

    I bought 3 bags last year. Had one sent back for repairs due to loose stitches. Everything was seamless. No issues.

    I have several bags and have no issues with any of them but I use them occasionally.
    Maybe the issue is that influencers don’t wear the bag everyday for months just occasionally.
    I stopped purchasing handbags that influencers push.

    I have 4 Polene bags. I recieved 3 of them quite fast and just for one there was a delay and a slow response from customer service but they did respond. So overall for 75% the delivery was perfect. I have had no quality issues so far. Also I found some of the cons presented by some influencers not true. Overall I still rate Polene high from quality vs price perspective.

    I agree with a lot of what you have to say.
    I love my neuf mini the leather is thick and lux but the journey to get it was quite a challenge!
    I purchased it at the Soho store and walked out happily with my bag. Go back to Canada and see that they sent me the wrong bag! Than I had to send that bag back and wait two weeks for my bag to arrive. They sent me a cardholder but I was still so disappointed because of how careless they were. The lining inside of the bag is very piled and faded. They wouldn’t do anything about it.
    Scarred from this experience.

    this October I was in Paris and tried to get into their store. disgusting experience! Huge queues and unfriendly staff. in the end, they said right in front of me that they wouldn’t let anyone else in, even though there were still 45 minutes left before closing. and now I find out that the quality of goods has deteriorated. I think the brand started to behave so brazenly because of you, yes, because of you - the bloggers who were constantly promoting it. Polenе forgot that they are not Hermes yet and cannot afford such disrespect for those who bring him money.

      Unfortunately Polene also started off their campaigning via social media influencers. I don’t think they would’ve ever become well known at all if not for social media. It’s what out them on the map but now also their downfall. They couldn’t keep up with demand. For background, I first discovered Polene several years ago and it was through blogs I read.

      Sorry you had a terrible experience. That said, Polene is solely responsible for their decisions to expand to multiple showrooms, poorly manage staff and reduce quality control.

    The two bags that I have were bought prior to 2022 and they are impeccable! But, I’ve been turned off by how commercialized the brand has gotten, I used to love the idea of having something not that many people had or knew about and being an understated, minimalist brand. Also not loving the price increases, before the new year I was looking at potentially getting my 3rd polene bag, the Neiti and it was priced at $290 USD, I looked at it again today and it’s priced at $360 a $70 USD price increase which about the same price my mini Cyme cost me in 2021, for a tiny bag, doesn’t feel worth it! The Neiti is a beautiful bag though…

    I’m surprised by this video.
    I purchased the Neuf in Sept. 2022 and have been using the bag quite regularly (traveled to Japan this year in June with the bag, humid weather) and it is still holding up so well.

    I bought a dix in the nyc store this summer and the hardware that attaches the bag strap is already broken (and I have never even changed the strap out) I planned on reaching out to them to see what they can do about this but now I’m nervous!

    I bought a Polene bag a couple of months ago and the leather is a very good quality, I've been wearing it on daily basis and no scratches until now. I've d buy another one for sure.

    One of my Polene bags- the strap completely broke off the bag. Very disappointing when their prices aren’t very affordable anymore.

    I have the Cyme Mini and I absolutely love the leather and design, however the stitching is loose on one of the corners, almost as if it wasn't tied off right. Unfortunately that makes me wary to purchase anything else from them. I've had much better luck with my APC products and I feel their styles are similar so I prefer APC now.

    Thankfully I got my purses in 2021 before the huge price increase and the quality is still excellent. I will continue wearing these but on occasion and unfortunately will not purchase until the quality comes back. So unfortunate. This had the potential to stand out even past the influencer image.

    I haven’t had any need for customer service, but the bag has been good. No scratches yet for a month now. In fact, they shipped the same bag twice because of a glitchy in their international system. They sent me a return label and I shipped it back they sent me a thank you email for returning it.

    I am shocked to hear this because I myself own a lot of Polene bags and I have been buying from them for a long time now and never have had any problems with customer services. Infact when I had some very small issue with one of my bags last year… I reached out to them and they were very quick to respond and I got back my handbag within that exact given time. This video is quite surprising for me.
    So now I’m wondering what really is happening with Polene ?

    This makes me so sad. I've never purchased one of their bags, but I've always adored their designs and hoped to buy one when I made more money. I guess I have to sit this out for if and when I hear better things about their quality and customer service. With luxury goods you need both of those components, it's why people want to pay the extra money.

    Poléne quality is still good, don’t make any fake news. Customer service quality is maybe correct because many customers use their time in boutique (after 1 hour waiting time outside) by asking 5 -20 models until they decide to buy one of them 😢😢😢😢😢😅. If I were a customer service there, I would be impatient because I lost my time too.
    Put yourself in other‘s positions, then you will understand.
    Don’t believe everything from social media without any own experience.
    Buy online when you don’t want to wait.
    Don’t spread toxic news

    I am also disappointed with the quality: I bought a Numéro Un bag a few months ago and the leather on the side of the handle has worn off. I was expecting better quality from the brand.

    I bought a polene in 2020 that’s had quality issues so I returned it to France on my own dime ($60). Customer service was non existent and thank goodness I tracked it so that I knew it got there. No word from them and only a week later when I reached out to them letting them know the item was returned did they give me the refund. I think they’ve always had issues with both quality and customer service but it only got noticeable with their increased volume of sales. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t buy another bag from them. Took a chance on the beri and love it.

    I have seen their customer service reviews. It has dissuaded me from ordering a bag online- but if their quality is going down too, I probably won’t even bother ever to buy another one.

    I've gotten a numero dix early december 2023, and honestly, I was impressed by the fact that they shipped over weekend (ordered friday afternoon, got the bag monday morning) and the quality of the leather! I have used it ever since as it turned my favorite now and have not a for a second regretted my purchase.

    I got mine at the store in Paris. No issues with the quality. Good customer service. We were in line for 30mins. but once we got in the store the staffs took care us very well. I am looking forward to get more handbag from this brand. :)

    I have four of Polene's Numero Un, and each is beautiful quality and I get so many compliments on the bag when I'm out and about .... the customer service was also excellent. Just my opinion.

    Many brands claim to offer luxury quality without the luxury price. Polene, on the other hand appears to be the opposite: luxury price without luxury quality.

    I was actually considering buying a Numero Un this December but got disappointed seeing ads from different shopping platforms that sells counterfeits as in Made in China. I also noticed that in my country where there are IG stores that sells Polene, buys them in bulk from Polene website to the point that the items become sold out in their website. I think the decrease in the quality comes from high demand. To accommodate high demands, they need mass production. Hand crafted bags can't achieve that. So I guess that's the obvious reason for the decline in quality.

    I ordered a bag from them recently, the quality was bad. Flap was stitched oddly and not horizontally aligned. Customer service said it's ok and they don't see any imperfection. Also leather quality is worse than it was. I don't like their new textured leather at all. Smooth leather is so bad right now. Sad.

    So disappointing to hear this! I have a Polene bag, which I purchased 2-3 years ago -no problems. However, I won’t be purchasing another after hear this information.

    Thank you for warning. I just plan to buy from them, but I think I have to do it at their store (not so near to me). I usually buy mid-range brands like Furla or Longchamp or from small local designers

    Oh yeah. I was there in September 2023 and the customer service was below par!!! I was even asked not to look at a wallet because they didn’t have them in stock

    My Cyme Mini had a losse thread after 2 weeks and they actually arrange for delivery to pick up and repair plus ship back. However, that is 2022 and I end up buying more from them.

    My experience with Polene has been good. But that's before 2020. I got Le Cabas they discontinue, perfect condition. I also have number 10. Conditions of both bags are much much better than my LV's two bags: heavily processed epi leather neverful and plastic like canvas neonoe. I will not buy luxury bags any more since Polene's old bags are of highest quality and timeless. Of course, I won't buy Polene any more either after seeing your video. Quality going downhill is expected for any brand. That's called entropy going up in an enclosed system. 😃

    I only have 1 bag from them & it came on time and the bag is beautiful. I use it every day and literally toss it around as a mom of 4. No scratches, got in beginning of 2023. I’d order another

    Wow, what a smear on the Polene brand. I ordered a bag a few weeks ago from Paris. It arrived in perfect condition in just a couple of days. I have used it with no issues. Are people ordering from the Paris store?

    Staff from the bank explained it as a "suspicious company".

    I have two Polene bags purchased resentful and they both are wonderful! Parcels arrived in time, perfectly packed. So I can’t complain at all. As for the case with only one bag arrived… Do you know that you never can accept a damaged parcel?

    thanks for the honest review. i boughr polene bag early this year under the influence of youtube video. however, i returned the bag next day. it is not practical at all. shame for those youtubers who are bought by polene. i dont watch their video anymore

    I bought my 3 bags 2022-2033. All of them are fine after several usage . Sometimes I don't really believe those who are saying they have bad experiences of certain products since there are so many fake products in the market today . I have seen lots of premium copy of Polene bags specially the numero une you'd never know that what you've got isn't real unless you're also holding something you actually bought from the boutique .

    I have 3 bags. 2 were perfect and the third was a shitshow they refused to replace or refund. It was so poorly finished that the edges of the leather were jagged and sharp. I posted about it on a handbag forum during COVID and since then have not purchased from them again.

    Whenever influencers start pushing bags or anything else, I stay clear of the product. They get them for free and the market gets saturated with them. Turns people off.

    For anyone who is searching the comments for a positive review of a more recent purchase, I have a Polène bag, the numero dix 10 in textured camel, and I absolutely love it and am very happy with the quality so far. I use it every other day and its in practically brand new condition, no scratches or noticeable wear, and I have long nails and while I am careful, I don't baby my bag that much. I purchased mine online and received it 4 days later so I had a good experience with the shipping as well. One thing I'm surprised you didn't mention are the price increases! I got my bag for $460 in June 2023 and now the same bag is selling for $580 in Jan 2024, which is >25% increase, absolutely shocking increase for a mid-range brand. I don't see any reason for such a drastic price increase if the quality and customer service are not improving as well

    Brands want to expand but I feel like they should have stayed in Paris. Brands get greedy and wants to make more money and with increasing production the quality usually declines as they use cheaper materials so they save on their cost of goods.

    I got mine 3 years ago and have been using it ever since a lot! No signs of wear and tear so ever! Could it be that they moved the production elsewhere? Such a shame for a company like this!

    I have purchased 3 bags 3 years ago and the quality is still very good. When I wanted to purchase another bag they didn’t accept my card. I contacted the custom service, no reply for 1 month. Eventually they wrote it is not their problem, to try again with another card. Did that, same issue. I gave up because it seems they simply don’t care of their customers. Everywhere you watch, you see Polene bags. It was better when it was a smaller, not so well known brand. Sad but true

    It took ages to arrive, one arrived damaged and I had to pay a huge £30 return. Waited forever for a refund. All in all shocking. The only one the Umi, I wish I returned as the zip is such a pain.

    Unless one buy the bag from the real official store, you need to doubt whether the bag is real or fake. And if it's send via delivery it's not impossible that the delivery people took the bag.

    No wonders.. Even a brand such YSL does not respond to a complaint. I bought their woc less than 2 years and the coating start to peel off. The local YSL store They just claim it as wear and tear based on usage. Despite i only use it for special ocassion not even once a month. They dont give a damn with the complaint. Furthermore the global customer service is hard to contact and never answer my email. So compare to the bag price YSL customer service is worst than polene i guess

    Oh my! I got my Numero Uno 2yrs ago which i didn’t have any issue. Actually there’s was another vlog that i watched. She ordered blue color and it came in i think camel. This is the fact that she waited for 3 months. i’m planning to buy the Neuf but i have to think about it.

    I’m on the fence for purchasing a bag from them. I just discovered the brand this month & went online to see their inventory. Now after reading reviews & watching this video, I’m not sure if I want to take the chance on purchasing a bag. I really wanted to buy the Numéro Neuf as my new everyday bag.

    I was just getting ready to order an Numero Un Nano. I think I will skip this purchase. On the other hand I have had excellent experiences with DeMellier Customer Service and Returns. They are responsive and do seem to care about their customer satisfaction. I purchased 12 of their bags in 2023. The first 3 were perfect in every way - a Vancouver, Venice Mini, and Lausanne. I purchased the others (mainly the London, Cannes, & Vancouver styles) in November and December. I ended up returning 5 bags due to crooked and/or skipped stitches, glue residue, and crooked stamps. I did end up reordering most of them and the replacements were received defect free. On a very positive note, DeMellier offers free return shipping, lifetime warranties, and fast refunds.
    I have to agree with another commenter that influencers bringing awareness to mid-luxury brands favored by the British Royals are likely driving increased demand which in turn is likely affecting quality control and workmanship. I recently ordered several bags from Aspinal of London and am anxious to see their workmanship.

    I have one polène bag and it is shockingly bad quality. The transversal rod that holds the flap and hardware broke, then the straps started to tear off on each side. I don't get the hype.
