- To mark a year of Youtubing we headed back up to the creek to run the sluice. Using the 'Old Girl' with the 12'' Dreammat and the GoldRat Forward classifier we hit the location where we filmed our first RUclips video. Being one of our favourite spots on the creek to prospect for gold we spent a couple of hours digging, washing paydirt and we are very happy with the beautiful Australian gold we got for the day.
We want to Thank all our Subscribers and watchers and the team at Groty Gold have had a blast along the way. Stay tuned for more adventures and hope you enjoy this one.

Some nice gold there guys ,, that river gravel embankment looks like a good spot alright , congrats on your 1 year anniversary ,you done well ,and that's a great little shop, farm stop ,i get my fruit at a place like that , not quiet that elaborate ,with an honesty box as well ,and you'd be surprised just how many are not honest ,the buggers , ohh well at least we do the right thing and that's what counts , cheers guys .thanks for sharing your day .
Thankyou Ned, it has been a great year learning all this RUclips stuff. Love the local ride side shops and you think in this day and age the honesty system wouldnt work but i think they have cameras pointed in every single direction, LOL. I bet a few do a runner, but you don't mess with the Mountain people, LOL. Steve found this spot back in about 2011 and we use to highbank there a bit, even the kids in nappies. I have to ask. Is the punch plate worth using? Classifying is a pain but it appears to me that you spend as much time and effort cleaning the punch plate as you would using a classifier, not to mention dealing with the tailings. Just curious. Good video guys. Thanks
Hello groty gold,While I understand, that everyone has his own method of sluicing, or separating fines from gravel it seems to me that hand raking is slow, plus You have to carry unclassified material to Your sluice.Use same material as Your screen on sluice to make a sieve in shape of smaller bucket fitting into Your bucket filled with 1/3 of water swirl it around couple of times and toss the gravel out. Keep filling Your sieve with shoveled dirt until water gets too muddy, pour it off and sluice the fines.I have been using that method last 36 years,regards George

Steve never shuts up, LOL, he is a real gasbagger and i am usually pretty quite in comparison but i have done a lot of work speaking and performing and i dont mind being the talkie one on film, were Steve isnt a fan of talking on film but i reckon he should do more, one day maybe. I watched you clean off a lot of sand from the top of your sluice (you're just clearing the larger debris). But my question, given there is a large amount of sand on the top with the rocks, isn't there a possibility of losing gold there?

Was most of your gold coming from the grey clay colored dirt?? Hey a plasic rake would work good for pulling the rocks up the hopper and off the sides be alot faster n easier. On the hands.
Yes the gold was the best at the bottom of the bank. As the high water washes the bank away the gold collects on the bottom ledge. Cheers for watching Zion.

So much open space. Get alot of daylight out of a days mining there. Many of our creeks in northern california are shadowy until 11:00 then shadowy at 5:00 or 6:00 from the steep mountains and deep valleys. Hiding the sunlight. Sometimes it gets alittle eeri depending on the creek....i bet you an oldschool wooden rocker would smash that spot. Being how easy it would be to throw dirt from the bank into it.....that is some really good gold. Its not like it playes out theres probably some really good paystreaks in it. Well your Vids are dope hope to see more.
I’m erymuch a greenhorn but shouldn’t you have more water over the sluice?
If the material is running through its working fine. The cells of the Dream Mat were working well. Too deep of water can cause you dramas. When you see the 'V' of water running at the top of the sluice its a good indicator that it's running right. Cheers for watching, happy hunting Alicia & Steve

Cheers 5050 mate oz does get cold we actually have more snow cover than the whole of Switzerland in winter lol. our area does not freeze so it can be worked all year. The Rota pan vid was filmed on winter solstice and it was cold but ok to get into it. We love the winters here as it's not 120f like summer. Thanks for stopping by mate. Alicia & Steve.

I can tell by the dirt on top of your sluice box that you're not cleaning your grass clumps as well as you should! They are a natural gold trap sometimes and it seems as though you either didn't pay attention or you already know that the grass roots there yields nothing!?!?
