My favorite Tom Waits song, hands down. Nighthawks at the Diner is my favorite album, but for singles, nothing touches On The Nickel.

I found the first part with a quick search.
I remember watching this with my very Catholic parents. They were appalled. "What on earth is this rubbish. He can't even sing. I should ring up and complain." But 14 year old me was enthralled. I'd never seen anything like it. I became an instant fan, and On The Nickel is still my favourite Tom Waits song.
Australia's introduction to a true original. This and Ruby's Arms are my favorites. Amazing how his songs take you to a melancholy mood so easily. A poetic troubadour. I enjoy his musical nod to the audience by playing that poignant " Waltzing Matilda " tag.

Well, back at the first video that got me into Tom. Eight years ago when I was twelve. Now I’m nineteen I can safely say that Tom got me through my teens. And hope he remains for the rest of my life.
