The Unspeakable Things Pope John XII Did During His Reign

- “Our” pope, John XII, ruled over Western Christendom from 955-963 some six hundred years after
Pope Damasus. Damasus had been appointed by the Emperor Theodosius, but by the time of John XII,
popes were elected by the people of Rome. Well, that's kind of misleading, for while the people of the
city did vote for the pope, the vast majority of those votes were bought by powerful families who either
had a son or other family member “running” for the position. Essentially, the position of pope went to
the highest bidder. What's more the candidates for the position were oftentimes not exactly “paragons
of virtue.”
As a matter of fact, some of them, like John XII did not know or care much about religion at
all. What many popes and their backers cared about was POWER, and in the Middle Ages, the pope
was considered infallible. In other words, he could make no mistakes, at least as far as it concerned
most the people.
Kings and emperors were another matter, and at many times in history, the popes were tools of those
who held military power. The pope, however, held the balance, for winning the pope over to your side
was costly. In return for his support, rulers often had to pay bribes, give up land and at least to some
degree, listen to what the pope “suggested”, for the pope had the ultimate weapon - excommunication.
Being “excommunicated” meant that a person was no longer able to take part in Church rites. The
practices, such as Holy Communion, confession, and attending Mass. Without these rites and practices,
a person could NOT ever ascend to Heaven, and could not, at least in theory, associate with any
Christian, and all of the Christians in Western Europe at the time were Catholic.
The pope had
tremendous power.
John XII
Before he took his “papal name” of John, he was known as “Octavianus.” His father, the powerful ruler
of Rome, Duke Alberic II, named him after the first Roman emperor, Octavian - also known as
Augustus, for Alberic wanted his son to follow him not only as the political leader of Rome, but as
pope. Alberic's family, the Tusculum clan, had ruled the area for decades. They were rich, powerful and
respected, and Alberic himself was well-loved. After his death in 954, the rich and powerful in Rome
made certain that Octavianus was elected pope, and the 18 year old became one of the most powerful
and richest men in the world as “John XII.”

- aside from those specific passages, why would Paul write letters about how to select Priests? (Protestants translate Presbyter as “elder” after the gospels, either way though, even still) how would “Episcipis, “Bishops,” select “elders,” (really priests) unless there was a Church that people attended?
No, you are leeching another gospel than what Christ gave the Church and what the Apostles taught. You should search the scriptures and tell me where the causal “fellowship,” without a Church that you’re advocating is explained because it ain’t in the Bible. That might sound very modern and religious, but it ain’t Christianity. Not by a long shot.
Wait a sec, let me get this straight... They put an 18yo boy in a position of power, wealth, and absolute authority... Like, who DIDN'T expect it to go this way?
It’s because he was related to the leader of the time. He was just given the tittle because it would help both sides bc he clearly didn’t care about God’ Word and did horrible things with his new authority as the pope.
You got it!
Back then, people tended to mature quicker. Maybe it was due to the harsher way of life. Don't forget that Alexander the Great became king at the age of 20. Cyrus the Great became king at the age of 21. So it had less to do with his age, and more to do with him being a very bad candidate for pope.

Man, what a pope! I had always heard and felt that the Catholic is corrupt but this puts the final nail in the coffin⚠️
Isn't the pope just the commanding "general" of a global army of pederasts?
I think the title of Pontificus Maximus has much less weight in determining the origins of the papacy simply because it was a title long used by the Caesars of Rome. It was common practice which allowed the emperor to seize control of Rome's religious leadership and influence over the people. I think perhaps the first exclusive usage of the term "pope" ("papa" in Latin and "pappas" in Greek), a common practice by the 9th century, provides a better picture of when the papacy became an official title of the Roman church. It was restricted the Bishop of Rome by the 11th century. Thus I think the papacy grew out of the political machinations of the western bishops in order to gain supremacy over their longtime rivals in the east and by the 9th century, they had largely achieved that.
The Pope is Caesar now.
The Roman Catholic Popes considered themselves to be an extension of the succession of Roman Emperors.
The title "pope" was first referred to the bishop of Alexandria by the Coptic Christians in the 3rd century, while the bishop of Rome used it much much later.
Thus the first bishop called pope was the Patriarch of Alexandria.

The Priest beside Jesus and Melchizedek who gain their priets hood through Divinity (Born priest), most of them married and NOT even one. The Bible does not say anywhere, a priest cannot marry and or have children. it is only Paul who a Pagan, who perscecuted christians until his enounter with Jesus on his way to Damascus that suggested (mere self reflection) that, one could serve the Lord better if one MARRY the Church and NOT a woman. His reason I beleive has to do with the challenges that comes with marraige and family as against spiritual leadership. So yes, there are so man children fathered by priest and it is not a new phenomena or an abomination.
Catholic church is the only body of Chrits that is enforcing Paul's caution. It is not a from God, but man's wish.
Recently Pope Francis in speaking about this issue stated the idea of priest not marrying was more on discipline than doctrine but that, he beleive, like a soldier obeys the commands, priest must learn to obey the churchs rulesand regualtions as an institution. In orther words, if you cannot abstain, do not join them. It is not a force.

Thank you. The dogma of papal infallibility is relatively new, as it was declared at the First Vatican Council (1869-1870).
(Sorry to mention that in British/American English, the 'pap' in 'papal' is pronounced the same as in 'paper'.)
That is why, according to emperor Charles V, Spanish is THE LANGUAGE to talk with God.
By the way, in Spanish too. It does not matter.
Yes it was officially pronounced at that council. Let’s not forget that from the beginning the early Christians all believed it to be so. The Council’s just document and verify what was always held by the fathers.

This was the eleventh century where church leaders were also warrior generals, politicians, and from influential families, and not religious leaders
Both sides of my father's family, all from Rome and Lazio, claim descent from the Knights of Tusculum (Tusculani)----Alberico's clan (his brother Octaviano was made Pope at 18 as John XII---the subject of this video---His mother Marozia, had a younger sister Theodora---She married into the house of the Crescentii , who are the ancestors of the Crescenzi-Serlupi and di Cenci families...Theodora of Tusculum would be my 30th or 31st great grandmother----The Crescentii also had a string of really, really really bad Popes during the 11th c. One of them, a Benedict, actually SOLD the Papal office when he grew tired of the responsibility----the only Pope on record who ever did so....He later had a change of heart when he realized the power he was relinquishing, and bought it back...He proved very difficult to get rid of, and is regarded as having three separate Pontificates---Because so many Popes sprang from the local grandees and urban nobility of Rome, we can trace a blood connection to dozens of Pontiffs---most of whom reigned well before the modern era, when the Counter-Reformation did its best to clean up the worst abuses and corruption of the Vatican....
I am in truth, rather proud that my relatives helped drag the Holy See down to its historical nadir of ignominy and infamy...This can be considered an achievement of sorts.

Just a correction, the idea of "Papal Infallibility" only became an official Catholic dogma by the 1st Vatican Council in 1870, and according to "Breaking the Habit", it is only used for theological statements made by the Papacy. However, it's dangerous to always be skeptical when the Church needs to articulate itself in the way of doctrine. Take the first 1000 years of Christianity, when we had to fend off Arianism. We had to articulate who Christ was, whether He was divine, how He was divine, etc. etc. Often times it's a necessity to come together and articulate the truth which has been given through the Holy Spirit.

Remember. Today we think of the Pope as strictly a religious leader. Centuries ago the Pope was also a secular Italian Prince. With all the baggage and political infighting that goes with that plus the religious authority.
That’s true must have been a whole lot tougher to manage
Such kind of body ( relation with govt +religion) is known as "harlot" in Bible. (Rev 17: ). We have to remember that Jesus is coming to His faithful bride not for harlots.
God bless all. Amen.

The same with Bishops - there are many instances of 'Prince-Bishops' in the middle ages - so the guy in the castle, who commanded an army, and owned all the land in the region, was also the head of the Church (in his diocese) and to whom all the priests reported everything they had learned in confessions and sent all the money they had scammed from their parishioners. Talk about absolute power...
@@gagatube There was a case in Ireland, very early on, of a bishop that had the local chieftains rise up against him. Evidently he had abused his authority so badly they didn't have much of a choice. When the arch bishop objected and threatened excommunication they sent him the bloody suit of chainmail that bishop was wearing when captured. No more was said.
Awesomeness!!!
Are we talking about America in 2022 or what
😭😭😭😭
Right I'm from America but I hate hearing how other countries where horrible when America has only been around for less then 3 centuries, but has its own war crimes and problems. Or are you talking about how we're technically a republic not a democratic state since we elect people to represent us supposedly...
More like Haiti, South Africa, Dubai in 2022.
@@onii--chan6067 lol.
. We elect people to office.. lmfao. We used to elect people.
I mean, how does a dead person get into office in PA?
I was literally thinking the same thing...
They had five popes in France at one point. Till Emperor Napoleon and his Josephine and others expelled them from France.
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, Rome never fell it became a religion!
Denial pure denial.
This stuff still goes on !
Not just depravity, the "Catholic Church" helped Nazi war criminals escape to South America through the "Ratline." No wonder the Protestant's split from Catholic Church, they realized what they were a long time ago...they haven't changed, just gotten worse. Example: the Priest the church have hidden because they are "Pedophiles." The church didn't get rid of them, they just moved them to a new parish, great example of "Moral" guidance.
@@dennistaylor5052 No accident the Nazi " Iron Cross " is actually the " Maltese Cross".

Roman Catholics did NOT consider the pope infallible at that time. The doctrine of infallibility was proclaimed in 1870.
Yes. Like Pope Francis is Infallible now? 😂😂
The fruits of the Spirit is Division.
Man he sure lived a life
yes, he sure did .The worst Pope ever. Mind you if you read the history of the Popes a longer line of phonies, scoundrels, and downright swine! most of them are not far behind him!.
Heaven on earth.
At the cost of his eternal afterlife
Oh wow.. such amazing habit for someone who claim to have holy spirit..
Did he claim that? How do you know
just subscribe your youtube recently and i like it particularly in Church politics… hope in your future videos you can present the start of the conclave and homosexuality acts in recent years
I guess there was no social media back then!
Theodosius became a spirit warrior and like an apostle after he cpllected apostle relics. I saw him in my dream. Jesus was granted authority in heaven although I didn't hear his name I felt it was him because he was near heaven n Jude came to help him and I fought in the spirit realm between heaven and hell. Bartholomew was behind me and theodosius was also close by.
?????????
You just hang in there, dearie. Remember, any commands they give you are to be carried out ONLY in dream time. Never follow their orders when you're awake.
Pope Alexander VI: Hold my beer
At least Alexander was brilliant, charming, and a wonderful organizer. John xii had no redeeming qualities.
I would disagree that you can go to heaven even if you never set foot in a church! Jesus said everywhere is gods house! You can worship him anywhere!
I think you're missing the point. This video is reporting history: ie, what other people thought. Go take it up with them. (Spoiler: They're dead.)
Correct 💯
Jesus did not actually say that. I think that was in a movie. however yes you do need to know Jesus to go to heaven. you need to repent and live for him but yes you don't need organized religion
Yes that’s why I go to the rubbish dump to see my family , not ! I go to their house of course
Churches as buildings are not in the Bible. Organized religions are the creators of them.
"Toasting Satan at parties". Dude was out of control 🤣

I’m Catholic, and I also approve this video. The church never said that popes are perfect.
