  • The PROPER way to create a settlement. I see incomplete mods on the Nexus and it's not ok lol.
    Today we are going to make our own settlement, from scratch! A fairly decent PC is required for this.

    The Basics if you need to: • Creation Kit | The Basics
    This is the Fallout 4 Creation Kit. Fallout 4 for PC is required to use the CK.
    Download link: bethesda.net/e...
    Install by downloading the launcher at the top right of that page. Log in, and install the CK for Fallout 4 (the green one) from the sidebar. It may ask to unpack stuff, say yes.
    Also, I'm going to look into getting a better mic lol

    Remember everyone, there is a Part 2 to this video in the description tab. Click Show More.
    Part 2 goes over the scripting and tool quests (don't worry it's easy). Without it, your settlements will not be fully functional.

      Do you think if I made an exterior settlement then stretched the borders out to the size of the entire map I could build anywhere? Or do you think it would break things?

      The world loads things in a small grid of cells, once you walk too far from the center of this giant trigger, it will become unloaded and you won’t be able to build anymore. Lol

    I've recently gone from sharing settlements on the NEXUS to thinking, I should mod, so many ideas! But, so little applicable skill... Watching you work is a pleasure. Look forward to me butchering modding for some time, I mean seriously quite a while. But I'll learn.

    just wanted to say that your tutorials have already been very helpful, you explain things in a way that I can understand very easily. also, your mods are very well done, when I started messing with the creation kit, I literally said to myself "this guy needs to do a settlement tutorial because whatever he has figured out makes these settlements work perfectly"

    Now, that's something! Great work + big Thank You! I am a fan of Chesko's work and use his conquest mod a lot. But for making a settlement, it won't run very well, like provisioners what I need much. I loaded the creation kit a while ago and stopped shortly after that finding it too complicated. I simply didnt get into the basics without having to look hundreds of viodeos for nothing.
    Well now: I dont like looking videos cos I feel its a waste of time mostly. But I gave me kick and studied both videos of yours in 6 hours and parallel worked out my first settlement and my first mod too sitting right on the hill south southeast of ReconBunkerThetaExt. Aaaannnnd: It worked from the beginning! Provisioners come and go, the settlers do their job and everything nice (at this damn dangerous place). Again: Great work, obviously professionell.
    There is just one little thing ... Please allow the watcher a little time to stop youtube, when you click ok on dialog boxes, to have a snapshot of the values in the dialog. There were two such situations when you clicked and chose values from dropdowns soooo fast, that I needed more than 10 times to get to see the dialog filled, because a microsecond later another dialog was covering it and after you filled that a microsecond later you closed both :-)

    Really helpful and I love your character at the end, must have taken some effort to record and lip synch. I used to make FO3 mods but haven’t touched the Fallout 4 construction kit because I have FO4 on the Ps4 only.

    @Neeher Great video thanks. Do you think you could do another one but creating a Settlement in Nuka World? If I try to do the same steps in this video on Nuka World doesn't work, only in the commonwealth and I can't find out the reason why. There's not many posts, videos or questions related to the DLCs and own settlements

    Soo, theoretically speaking, if I were wanting to flatten spectacle island but didn’t wanna worry about breaking the game... as long as I went there first and took care of the mirelurks and acquire the workshop. Can I clean up the settlement in game with workshop mode and then go back in later and use the creation kit to flatten it so I can build up a really big A** bunker with all my creation club content and dlc workshop items?

    The house mod i created with 4's creation kit, doesnt show in game despite being enabled on NMM.. Any ideas please? Help

    How do i send settlers or my companions there? it doesn't show in my options to send my companions when I dismiss them...

      I realize this is old, and I'm a little rusty, but I'm fairly certain this is handled by the quest you have to create while creating the settlement in the CK. The quest registers the settlement with the settlement system in the game so it shows up with all the other settlements, so FO4 actually SEES your creation as a settlement. This is a one-time thing that runs either right after installing the mod or when you exit Vault 111 if you started a new game with the mod already installed. After the quest runs and completes that's it. If it's not in the list it's never going to show in the list. That quest, which runs the WorkshopParent script I believe, is also why you should NEVER remove a settlement mod from an existing game. It can break the entire settlement system if you do, and it compounds over time.
      Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I see this question in the comments for every single settlement creation tutorial, and nobody ever answers it.

    @Neeher Using your tutorials - I have made my 1st Mod!! A nice player home with a large enough room to horde all my PA's!! NavMeshing sucks - but got it down - only issue I have is I can't seem to find anything on sending companions to my new Player Home. Any hints or suggestions where to look would be great...or maybe a video?? Again, thanks for posting the vids!!

    Is this also how you can make a location as well? Like indoor or outdoor locations by scratch
    And I don't mean settlements, I mean like a actually location with enemies that can keep Spawning back after time goes by

    I was hoping to make a Quincy Quarries settlement using this method, because I originally tried to make one with Conquest, but the cell reset and deleted everything I'd built. However...when following this tutorial, I noticed that the Quincy Quarries Encounter Zone already has "Never Resets" checked by default?! Clearly it did reset though! Now I'm hesitant to even try this D:

    Is it possible to build in the creation kit using other mods meant for settlement areas? Ive been trying for a while with no luck. Any ideas?

    Man I'm trying to learn the CK but this is going too fast for me... I see what you're doing but I don't know how to do it myself. I just want to know how to 1)make a location 2)link it to cells in the game 3) make an encounter zone that never resets the location

    So I used this video to fix a broken settlement mod I found on The Nexus, and now I am trying to tweak the settlement area from another mod, but when I click on the settlement bounds box, I only get the three arrows, which only lets me move the box, not enlarge it. How do I get the six-arrow box like you show in this video?

      With the trigger selected, press 2!

    I've followed this guidance but when I try to add the DefaultDummy my dummy only has the jacks of axis but not the box. What step did I skip?

    the question I have is HOW do you edit the build actual area once it has been placed, I don't seem to see that X,Y, Z compass in the middle of the purple box. am I missing something I need to click to get that box?

      With the render window selected, press 2 on the keyboard (not numpad).

      Well that Sort of worked...for one of the boxes. I am trouble shooting a Mod Conflict, between your All Settlements expanded mod, and another one. (I'm not sure which mod is conflicting) But Green top Nursery, the build able area seems to have reverted to it's original size, (no where close to the Work Shop Border) and the Red Rocket Build able Area seems to have shifted (I can build down past the traffic lights in Concord, but can't get any where near the Sanctuary Hills Bridge) It's driving me insane.

      Fairly high end PC, also you got to turn off Allow Render Window Cell Loads. Pretty sure I do that in the video haha.
