Just realized the volume is much lower on this vid than the intro. I'll reupload in a day or two with fixed volume.
Hello my friend. Thank you for all you do for us. In the video, you mentioned how we can get on a forum of other creators to discuss our projects and swap ideas. Can you post that in the direction of a sticky comment? I didn't write it down and don't want to commit to another 45min toi find it.

Can’t find the intro video. Can you link in details ? Thanks so much for all this
Dont need to. We can just raise our volume.

"Creation kit is slightly prone to crashing" I have a nominee for understatement of the year.
I read this post whilst waiting for it to respond. This is my first crash ever. I've only opened the application 5 times.
This is the first time I've tried to mod a 3d game. Don't you know? Modding is !!FUN!!
"I do not understand everything."

this is probably one of the best tutorials i have seen. thank yo for not being monotone lol
this guy is the only one ive found worth watching..

Thank you for making such an organized and comprehensive tutorial. It was super easy to follow along and I feel much more comfortable with the creation kit than when I first opened it. I always dreamed of making mods since first playing fallout 3 a decade ago and that dream is now becoming a reality. I look foreward to bringing my ideas to reality for FO4 and many other games.
Thanks for this, kinggath. I suspect this series will prove to be of huge benefit to the modding community over time.
This Tutorial series is going to be AWESOME! :)
Thank you for taking the time to uploading a Tutorial
With the help of this incredibly easy to follow tutorial, I modded Vault 88 and removed a bunch of debris. So now it's possible to build corridor straight down to the water pump.
Great content man, I've always had a problem getting the hang of the creation kit. Cant wait to try again, Just always wanted to build my own settlement mod using the creation kit.
wow! someone that not only knows what hes doing, but also knows how to teach ... and speak so he can be understood, thanks
Just want to say thank you for these tutorials, very few out there on the CK.
Very informative video. I have some mod ideas that I never pursued because the prospect of learning how to create a mod has been daunting. Never modded in my life, with the exception of creating Settlers 4 maps a decade ago, if you can even consider that modding xD
I personally would probably find it easier if it was purely text based and I could just code away for hours :P Even learning another programming language doesn't sound that bad. (I've used quite a few programming languages over the years, but Papyrus was never one of them^^)
No, but really, I downloaded the CK to try it out alongside your video. I also have some suggestions for modding areas to be covered:
1) Quests: How to create them, how to set triggers and new quest stages, how to include for example sound files.
2) Cells 102: How to create them from scratch, pitfalls etc - eg. if a building has two entrances, how to link the entrances in the outside world to the starting point in the interior cell?
3) Cleanup. When is a mod considered clean? What are the steps to ensure that? What to do when my mod isn't clean? You only mentioned bits of it in passing this video, I think.
Okay, i just want to make a custom worldspace that i can make a decent sized area for A. A workshop/settlement for myself to work on. (Base Game areas have way too many clutter objects, collision barriers, and uneven/voided surfaces.) Because for the life of me i cannot find a plugin/mod that is large military industrial complex, esp for a mass amount of power armor displays IE a collections warehouse. Now i kind of know how to make a flat landscape for the most part. But navmeshing the land is a little more confusing on each cell. I just wanna make this for myself. Because no one, almost no one has provided a custom landscape with ultimate freedom. Not sure why when you can fast travel to the external space using the cmd console, and you can basically create a doorway with any door, cave etc.
So I'm not really sure what happened but I fallowed the directions to download the creation kit but I have FO4 not in my x86 folder and I wanted to do a curtain task that has nothing to do with the vanilla game but an outfit I'm editing and was trying to figure out how to load it into the CK to give me the ability to make it in the chem bench and come to find out the CK was already in the FO4 directory. To test I deleted all the stuff I downloaded from bethesda.net and sure enough the CKexe still works. I came here looking to learn how to edit something that isn't vanilla but I don't think this is the right video. I have done a fair amount of 3D work and seems much of the UI in the same in the CK.
*YES! YOU ARE OVERWHELMING ME WITH ALL THIS INFORMATION!*
I appreciate you doing this, but wish there was a "no duh" edition. I'm trying to watch this so I can get better at the aspects of modding I'm not good at, and at the beginning I couldn't concentrate on it at all. There's so much information dump, and so much information that I already know, or is self-explanatory. I know it's got to be there for everyone, but whenever it comes to just explaining things, I kept getting bored and tuning out, then panicking that I might have missed something important, then deciding that modding must just not be for me because I can't follow the lesson...and I'm on your writing team! I've worked with the CS before! I really wish there was more "hands on, dive in, explain as we go" content to this, because when you're actually showing _doing_ something, its so much easier to follow. I'm going to try to watch this again later, but I'm worried that even if I wasn't fully paying attention, my brain's just going to go "nope, already heard this" the next time and make it even harder to follow along. o_o;;
Probably just catch a later episode
What Programming Language is Bethesda’s Creation Kit Written in?
I'm visually impaired is there a dark theme for creation kit?
Very interesting! I'm not going to mod on the front end of things (ie the CK, uploading to beth net etc), another guy I work with does that.
But I am curious, after a couple of years, has anything changed in the CK setup or process?
Did you say Tez edit…?
I got a mod that replaces the bobble heads textures in game and I wanna make it so that the loading screens only show the bobble heads. Do you have a video that deals in that kind of thing?
Hello, been having some issues with the CK which made me pretty sad atm. Been modding Bethesda games since Oblivion. I downloaded the CK for Fallout 4 from the Beth launcher. Point is that i had to reinstall both the CK and 4 a couple of weeks ago due to many buggy issues ive been having with the game. The thing is that the CK in the past worked perfectly fine but now... i cant see the house mod i created in game. Not even the Boston cleaning mod i made. Any clues about why is that happening? I use the Nexus Mod Manager for my mods and both my mods are enabled in NMM.
Please help
I now know how 3D engineering software applies to the real world (a 13 y/o me in school excelled at but failed to see the utility of getting a point on a sphere asymptotically flush to a plane)
I have a cool idea. The captain of the yangtze says he is going back to china. I want to make a mod in Hong Kong where you go back with him. It will be long, but you are hopefully going to teach me how. : ) my wife is chinese and from Hong Kong so i have a perfect voice actor and resource for local knowledge.
Just start small. Create a China (or Hong Kong) Town (4 buildings) in FO4. For simplicity, just add a door somewhere that will take you there (so it wouldn't conflict with other mods in the future). Add a merchant, a tiny fetch quest and a temporary follower. If you manage to do it, then you have a decent shot at recreating something big.
@@mikhailchuev8715 this reminds me of the LARPs i have run for the past twenty years. I teach new storytellers this lesson. Enthusiasm is great but don't assign yourself too much homework. You could get overwhelmed and burn out.
@@mikhailchuev8715 i am starting with the sub base the yangtze will dock in, and i ran into my first problem i figured i would use the Nuclease assets, but that sub is half the size of the yangktze. I guess i will hope no one notices that the sub shrank on the trip.
I've modded in fallout 3 and new vegas, so this shouldn't be to diffrent.
So did you just show us the creation kit is free if you own fo4
It is.
You talk too much about irrelevant stuff.
I am just starting modding today! This is great ! I will be using this for Skyrim SSE but, I'm feeling this is going to be perfect to start my very first Skyrim player home.. Thanks🙏I'm now a subscriber and, will be looking forward to your next video !! P.S. I didn't know map editing back then was considered modding ...Omg , that just means we are old lol 😂
Great content! Just a tiny tip from another CK user - moving your camera around in the render window, especially rotating it, is much easier if you frequently change object focus with Shift + F to hop to the selected object - especially when placing items this saves you a lot of fumbling around. Rotation is always orbital to the point where your last focus change was, that's why it looks and feels awkward the way you are showing it here. You might want to include that in a video tooltip.
If you learn to mod you can literally learn to make a game my first experience with this type of stuff was in far cry creating my own maps
How did this not come up? RUclips Algorithm! Thank you whomever/whoever the brain dump is from...I think that way too.
Man I'm watching your videos to get ready for a star field and this engine looks horrible to mod in compared to unreal. I really hope the updated one looks a little better
Something that wasn't mentioned, that i find extremely helpful, is you can actually go in and hide all warnings except the check marks in the preset options and it will only popup with current warnings that usually mean you did something catastrophic to your mod...
As a software developer I feel much more natural in xEdit. The fact that Creation Kit is slow and crashes like crazy doesn't help... But some things need to be done in CK, so it is useful to know it anyway.
Says a "software developer" who uses xEdit that doesnt offer the GUI NON software developers need 🤴
"Make sure 'Cell View' window is not selected when deleting."
Good golly. I just started using the CK and I feel like you saved me a world of heartache with this knowledge. 😅 Thank you so much for all the CK insights, appreciate it.
Great tutorial video KG Thanks 👍😁
WHY THE FUCK IS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE WITHOUT YEETING ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE???? is there no way to make this work outside of the clunky BS mouse say like a controller or something!
Prefix your mods with something so that you can easily distinguish them from vanilla assets or assets from other modders. You could do "KM" for King Under the Mountain.
Plugin = ESP files
Mod = ESP files + any other files that go with it.
To enable the mod, go to your mod manager of choice and enable it in your load order.
And here we go!
I'm looking for information on how to raise water levels, such as lakes and creeks and rivers Would appreciate the help
my god you are a blessing
So say I'm looking to clean up a settlement from all debris and trash. When i click delete, it always shows in the cell view even when I keep the render window selected. Will hitting 1,1 hide it and it not show up in game or when in workshop mode will you see the items description but not the item? Do you have a video that solely focuses on cleaning up settlements? Cheers.
Kinggath, you did not mention how to undo your changes if you delete something by accident or move something you don't want moved. I tried control Z but it only went back so far! Haha.
How do I port a mod to Xbox and it says no active plugin what should I do because I have the zip file ready
I look especially to modding music... Do you think you can help : ? :)
This makes me sad becuase I am trying to learn how to mod to make compatibility mods :'(
Just started to delve into modding(or at least just change some base stats in game) first vid on the search engine, hope to learn tons fro mthis series!
Thank you for this tutorial I was entirely lost here trying to start up in starfield
cant believe Bethesda uses this to make their games. No wonder why its so buggy
Thanks for doing this, there's little reliable and organised information about CK these days. Totally subbed for future videos!
Would you mind putting in timestamps for future videos?
I barely have time to make these vids... perhaps someone out there enjoying them could take the time to do that.
@@kinggath [Quest accepted]
If you finish getting timestamps together, PM me somewhere (Twitter, Facebook, SimSettlements.com, Nexusmods.com) and I'll Pin your post!
Hey Kinggath, I know this is an old video but was wondering if ya person could build a whole new game like this or if it would only be mods? example if i want to use other peoples mods (With permission or for just my personal use) and put in a few mods myself and basically change this game from FO to something more realistic and present day. Could this editor do that or would a person need a engine and basically build a whole new game. Just curious im to hyper to even do the mod thing just FYI really.
Check out BRUMA: Beyond Skyrim if you never have, it was created within the engine and is something new. People have even been making New Vegas in CK, it’s pretty nuts what you can do when you have access to tools like these for a game. The modding community will never stop since you can do so much in CK and other places. Just though I’d give you an answer, since you never got one.
Absolutely perfect. Showed me everything I needed to know to get started, and I'm looking forward to watching more of these. I generally don't like video tutorials because I find they move too slow (or occasionally too fast), but this was right in the Goldilocks zone for me.
I cant get it to work it wont find my game files i have it in the fo4 directory i dont freakin get it
I'm trying to teach myself how to use the unreal engine right now and there seems to be a lot of similarities to both. Glad I subbed to you a while back now. Thanx bruh
Excellent video, Will watch it a few times to make things sink in to my old age old brain Nice Idea this is awesome, Thanks KG!!!
This is a little above my head but you've got to appreciate the effort your going to KG. Becoming a bit of a legend along with your playthrough. I am looking forward to the fraction creator vedio. I want to see if I can make one for talon company. 🤔
I seem to be missing my layers window any suggestions?
I can’t find where I get the creation kit let alone try a mod
I'm currently trying to change bradenm's Placeable NPCs so it only places minutemen from the workshop. I also want to make them wear XHX, Kirloper and ZARGE's armor mods and use modern weapons like the MK18 for instance.
you sir are a legend... i'm a pretty damn good programmer for years i've been only using mods not creating... its time i return to the community... and this started it thanks
9 months later, got any mods?
I have a hit question. I am making a mod that gives a chose of files. Do you know how to make the selection window that opens when you download the files?
Like from a mod manager when you install it? If so, that's done with a fomod installer. You can download a tool to make those on nexusmods.com
skip to @36:04 so you dont damage your vanilla
I have a question if you don't mind me asking? Can anyone answer this if they know how. How do you make dialogue only appear in specific locations for say a follower, I'm asking this question for Skyrim, I'm sure the process is probably the same for Fallout 4, even an explanation for FO4 would probably be the same answer. Like I want the dialogue to disappear and only show up say in Whiterun. I thought all I'd have to do was put the character Getisid and Getiscurrentloc-Whiterun.. doesn't seem to work. Dialogue is showing up everywhere still. I want to be able to ask my follower questions about specific places while at them. I got idles working but doing this is not...I'm assuming there needs to be different conditions added.
im trying to change the faction uniforms for the BoS with stormtrooper armor. How do I edit the default outfits of all BOS affiliated NPCS permanently (I.E. when I make a new game.... that they wont remove.)
This tutorial was freaking great! I'm going to get in there and add some wacky stuff right away for the fun of it.
I do have one strange issue though-- I'm using Creation Kit SE for Skyrim SE and I don't get a layers window at all. When I go to view I have ones like Tool Bar, Status Bar, Object Window, Cell View Window, etc. Is that where it'd normally be? Because I can't get that window anywhere.
Thanks for the awesome vid! Very beginner friendly.
Thank you for this! I actually was inspired by your mods to start modding and had no idea where to start! The 'tutorials' on Betheseda wiki are blank!! You rock!!
I got to be going to work, I don't have time to learn right now, but I do got a quick question to know if it's even possible. I know it is something that most people don't want, and it would be slow on the Xbox due to the method of typing, apparently a similar mod exists for the PC. So you ever have a day where you got stuff to do but then that one day turns into a week and by the time you play the game again you forgot what you were going to do next based upon what you just did, a week ago. Is it possible to make a holotape of a journal entry type thing where you can just enter a new entry via game, does that make any sense. A holotape that acts like a digital notepad that your character can carry around and make notes about whatever they wish.
Oh, man, that W3 map editor... the memories
With the creation kit is it possible to modify UX elements, for instance modifying menu controls, or allowing simultaneous mouse & gamepad inputs?
4:40 & 18:00 or so for the gist(s)
Thank you for the video
Thanks! I've been trying really hard to get into the modding game but the Creation Kit as you said isn't too user friendly. The only modding experience I've had was about a decade ago on the Roblox Studio, even then I sucked since I was in like second grade. This helped me get started and now I'm not as nervous about getting into this whole modding thing. I have so many creative ideas but had no clue where to start, this helped thank you!!!!
This is beyond amazing. Thank you!
Publish a study book to go along with it. That’s a no-brainer purchase for me. Take my money!
All i want do is to lean how to make conflicting mods to work together. Like make clean and simple work with horizon.
22:30
What kind of pc would i need to do this on.
Could you make your own game from scratch using the Creation Engine? I guess what I mean is, is this the full Creation Engine software or is that exclusive to the Bethesda Studio? Is this the actual, full Creation Game Engine, or just a piece of it to mod on games?
You have to require one of the games, but you could take the player to a new world and replace literally every model, texture, and mechanic to effectively make your own game for non-commercial purposes.
I'm using mod organizer 2 for my mods and none of the mods appear in the data window like where fallout4.esm is.
You need to open the creation kit from mod organizer
I use a few of your mods on fo4, good job on them my man
this video is very helpful, thanks!
Thanks for doing these KG, looking forward to all the future ones.
This is going to be great, already learned a lot from this first video, thank you.
i want to create a outfit for my character but all this did was confuse the hell out of me
