It is funny, but at times it's absolutely excruciating because it's so accurate. All those people actually exist in every workplace across the country. The show is a work of genius.
Indeed, that's why I'll always put this above the US office. The US office is great as well but it doesn't have that kind of social observation quality.
Bang on, my dad said he couldn't watch The Office because he had worked for someone like Brent, and it was just too real for him so he couldn't get through the awkwardness 😂 he had a friend in the US who said the same thing about the US version. It just shows how accurate the show is about the characters they're playing
Hi Josh. Another thing to note is the whole dynamic between Brent and the camera. He knows a documentary is being made and he’s trying to influence the way the public perceive him. The harder he tries to come across as a great boss on camera the more he fails. It’s about someone who is self obsessed but not self aware
Ricky's ability to extend the cringe with little looks to camera is pure genius. I think the office (UK) is very much about body language as well as dialogue.
Hi Josh, just a quick one; the last joke of the episode in the Office goes up after the credits. It’s typically 5 seconds long so don’t miss out! Keep it up mate, love your videos. Love from England
MacKenzie Crook, who plays Gareth, is the most fantastic actor. He wrote & directed one of the loveliest TV shows I've ever seen, called Detectorists. He's one of those actors who can transcend his (in his case, extremely idiosyncratic) looks & become whoever he wants. As an American I'm not sure you'd 'get' Detectorists, it's just so culturally different. For me it defines England & what it's like to be English (for good & ill).
'I might bloody have to now' gets me every time. Brent is a bit like Alan Partridge because a lot of why he is so funny is his desperate attempts to impress people - which is quite relatable in a way.
I never thought I could see anybody else doing even close to as good a job in the Gareth role, but now when I switch to re-watch the UK version I keep seeing Dwight. Both equally amazing in their own ways!!
Love the final joke "Has anyone got the time?" lol When he said the joke about "My Mums one" i.e. a Woman and you said "I've heard irt " the humour is not in the "joke" itself but the "joke" is that Brent finds it clever and funny what his mate Finchy said :)
The joke is also that the sentence that must have came before was someone telling finchy he's a woman hater presumably after saying something awful to a woman in a pub
US office does cast a long shadow too. Even though I love British shows I first saw couple of seasons of US office and could not get into the UK one as characters seemed different and the show itself does have a different vibe. It took some time after US Office when I could re visit the UK one and see its own greatness
I felt exactly the same as you regarding the US office. I grew up on the original version, big fan & put off the US version for over 10 years. Thankfully both are brilliant and can be appreciated.
You can't compare the 2 shows, it's not just British accents and American accents that make them differ, its a totally different way of getting the comedy out of everyday situations, i,e the work place, with the British one being funny on a whole different level to the American version which is funny in its own way, Myself I find the British version has alot of subtle jokes, no, not jokes, but just funny little things you have to find yourself, if you get what I mean, like the jokes aren't slammed in your face, making you see the funny bits,
I don't think you can compare the Uk vs the American office, they're both catered for the country so to speak. The American office is well revered and rightly so, many brits can relate more to the UK version. It's all just brilliant writing and acting I think we should just respect both as different entity's and enjoy :)
The character of Gareth was suppose to be played by a large muscle clad military type. But Ricky thought it would be more amusing to have Mackenzie Crook play him as looking like a "recently hatched baby bird" would make it more amusing.
The UK Office is a masterpiece. The US one is a comedy. Americans have no attention spans. They need laughs every 40 seconds. The UK Office is genius, not written by teams of americans on coffee, just 2 very talented english writers who changed comedy forever. No laughter track. Just pure documentary genius.
josh your the man cant lie love Ricky never got into the office but one thing i recently come across was the show (The Moaning Of Life) my request is basically a carry on from the show an idiot abroad staring the the one and only carl pilkington. i support ur ting just dont comment but ill keep sending your more great requests like this >>>> from london
The Office uk is one of my favourite comedy shows. I would say the first episode is the least funny of the show. The training episode has some of the best moments for me.
Hey Josh, Next episode (S01ep03) introduces Chris Finch (the guy who made the porno picture) and he's quite hard to understand, even for Brits - very deep voice and strong Northern accent. I recommend you use subtitles for this episode. Cheers for the videos, very funny.
I think the videos are a few months old now dude, I don't use Patreon, but I think I'm right in saying he's already uploaded these on there so the videos already exist
We all get why Ricky had an interest in the USA version being more successful than the original. He produced it…and wants it to spread. It’s understandable…it just didn’t grab me like the original. It felt TOO HOLLYWOOD filtered.
Are you not watching the full episode? Are you just watching highlights? If that is the case, you’re not giving this a fair shake at all. I think I was just dumb. What are you doing just watching clips? Unsubscribed. Absolutely.
It is funny, but at times it's absolutely excruciating because it's so accurate. All those people actually exist in every workplace across the country. The show is a work of genius.
Agree, it’s almost uncomfortable to watch at times, but that tells you how well it’s written and acted.
@@TommyHax mate literally the same with my old man 😂
I agree, I have worked with many people who act just like the characters on this show.
“Different frogs, different times”
Never a truer word spoken

Yes, and every human emotion, and reaction is seen , by different character's.
Hi Josh, just a quick one; the last joke of the episode in the Office goes up after the credits. It’s typically 5 seconds long so don’t miss out! Keep it up mate, love your videos. Love from England
these reactions are months old from his Patreon. He is fully aware now 👍🏻
Thanks for the info!
The training day is best half hour of comedy ever made, for me.
I have to check that out!
I think there been a rape up there!
The best lime has to be Gareth's fantasy...
"2 lesbians....I'm just watching"

"Detectorists" is one of the finest shows to ever grace a TV screen.
He is a great bloke.
The detectorists is great!!
He was also in pirates of the Caribbean.
'I might bloody have to now' gets me every time. Brent is a bit like Alan Partridge because a lot of why he is so funny is his desperate attempts to impress people - which is quite relatable in a way.
LOL they do have similar qualities in that way.
Same. Always trying to say how principled he is but would throw it all out the window in a second to fit in
I love the fact Gareth sits there checking the time on his watch when Brent has been caught out with the talking clock.
It is those little subtleties that makes The Office stand apart from usual tv comedies.
I never thought I could see anybody else doing even close to as good a job in the Gareth role, but now when I switch to re-watch the UK version I keep seeing Dwight. Both equally amazing in their own ways!!
The story at the end cracked me up 🤣. I lost it when he said he rolls up the pizza
Love the final joke "Has anyone got the time?" lol

"Has anyone got the right time?" really got me 😂- I'm simple..!!
“You haven’t even got an email, Joan”! 🤣
That brunette is a young Sally Bretton from ‘Not Going Out’

I agree I think both are well done!

Hi Josh,
I don't know how much stuff you've got lined up but 'Still Game' is an epic Scottish comedy series.
Finchy is great in this
Gareth’s the best ..” different frogs different times “😅
I really need to watch the Office again. Not watched it for yonks. The last time I watched it was on vhs, that's how long ago I watched it.
8:33 Jay's Dad from the Inbetweeners .... I worry that he gets typecasted 😋
Tremendous!

The Jennifer actress is amazing
Everything with Ricky Gervais &/or Karl Pilkington in it is worth watching.
The character of Gareth was suppose to be played by a large muscle clad military type. But Ricky thought it would be more amusing to have Mackenzie Crook play him as looking like a "recently hatched baby bird" would make it more amusing.
He's in....The Detectorists
He made a good call!
yet again someone else ignoring stephens input

Different frogs different times! I’m buying the t-shirt!
Loved the episode but loved the anecdotes from you at the end!
8:35 did you recognise him, Josh? Jay's dad from the inbetweeners.
Great reaction as usual. I’m sure a lot of people here would say that you do not come across as a nerd!
I disagree- he's a huge nerd. It's just that it's not a bad thing at all. Embrace the geek.
That speaking clock always made me laugh with the message "The time sponsored by Accurist". How do they sponsor time?!
The 'Service'. ain't free.
Jays dad from the in betweeners there glyn in the warehouse or taffy
The woman playing Donna is in not going out can’t remember her name in it over 20 years old this now
I recommend you watch the vicar of dibley the Christmas lunch incident it’s a proper 90s classic
I thought you already did this series? Oh wait it was ''the other one''.
josh your the man cant lie love Ricky never got into the office but one thing i recently come across was the show (The Moaning Of Life) my request is basically a carry on from the show an idiot abroad staring the the one and only carl pilkington. i support ur ting just dont comment but ill keep sending your more great requests like this >>>> from london

Hi Josh Please react to the episode of Red Nose Day, it’s in season 2, where David Brent does the dance...so funny

😂👍
Some bits of The Office are too cringey 🤣 I have to skip 2 minutes every time the cringe level gets to 4/10
You really don’t understand this very well and The character he is trying to play
The way he always adjust his tie makes it more awkward. The office invented cringe comedy
Women's libers.
Get out
Are you not watching the full episode? Are you just watching highlights? If that is the case, you’re not giving this a fair shake at all. I think I was just dumb. What are you doing just watching clips? Unsubscribed. Absolutely.
Jen is a stunning beauty!
