Thank you so much Karen, I really really enjoyed watching you tell us all about how you use Gesso. Very very useful and helpful too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
@@KerenTamir I can tell we're going to have a lot of fun together!! I've done altered book, collages and so forth for years but have never used gesso. It's already on my shopping list and I can't wait to dive in. Ideas are running through my head like crazy!
I’m so glad I watched the whole video bc I was gonna ask about coloring gesso before application. I’ve tried paint, water soluble sprays and gel crayons but nothing really worked. I hadn’t thought of mica powder. That will work great I think. Tysm for sharing💖
yes I do, I have a long form video on how to make it or this short one here I published a few weeks ago: ruclips.net/user/shortsNucp2BR1ZL0?feature=share
I love the end results! You make it look so effortless. I do have a few questions for you though. What do you recommend a new beginner of mixed media do to build up their mixed media supplies? Are there certain sites or stores you recommend looking at? Are there beginner essentials that are a must? I want to incorporate mixed media into my art but I get overwhelmed when trying to figure out what art supplies I’d like to get.
Hi Moe, thanks so much! I recommend to get white gesso and gel medium as a beginner. those are the ones I use the most. I list all the supplies below in the description as those are the stores and products I recommend. You will also need something to add color like watercolors or acrylic paints. it depends on the style you like. I would start with those two and then the 3rd one I'd recommend is modelling paste. but if you get a thick white gesso you can use it as modeling paste. Hope that helps. you can watch more of my videos. I have some that explain each product separately like All about gesso, All about gel etc
thanks Anneke, no I don't always use white, I used to use a lot of black to cover 3D projects so I can add metallics and black is great for metallic products. I also use clear gesso however I find the glear gesso is very liquidy so it cannot be used through a stencil and since its clear, it cannot fix mistakes . However clear gesso is great for prepping a surface. Hope this helps!
Great video. Thank you! Yes, Gesso is fantastic. And it`s so easy to make. When you use a lot of it, You can save a lot of money by making your own Gesso. :)

oh goood!! yes mica powder or the lindy's magicals work best for this. anything in powder form that doesn't dilute it more
I’m excited about the gesso
I’m going to try mixing it w. powder mica: 🐇
