    Superb! We are just starting out with our Bachmann "Thomas & Percy" G scale railway. Very helpful video thanks. For those asking we have a planned area and will be starting very soon. As for costs we are using brass track which is expensive and have had to set aside about £3000 GBP for the project. $6000 Canadian and about $5000 American

    No. The rails are made of brass so that they don't get damaged.

    try a train tunnel longer than an arm's length because arm's length is too short

    brass is a soft metal that also tarnishes over time causing electrical problems. ;)

    I was quoting in AUD if I was to get starter set and extra track pack it would be around $1500 you add in land landscaping and buildings well there goes $500-$1000 more

    I can never understand why sidings are arranged so that motive force runs into a siding instead of backing into a siding. Why should you want to Trap your engine head when you should always back your train into a siding so that you can release your motive force to do other work. Proto Type NEVER TRAPS the motor force. The railroad would loose time and money.

      Edward Zimmerman Jr Interesting comment but, dependent upon where you are in the world, this practice can change dramatically. In the UK we have “pilots” (U.S. Switchers) which collect the train for marshalling. It is also illegal in the U.K. to reverse a train carrying fare paying passengers; the locomotive must always be leading.

      It's a toy train, you'd only lose play money.

    what gauge are they using for garden railways is this ho scale

    • @michaelramsey82
      @michaelramsey82 7 лет назад +5

      No, garden railways are G scale. HO scale is far too small to work well outdoors.

      Nothing happens. That's why they are good outdoor trains. Rain and snow doesn't affect it.
