- Vivek Ramaswamy dominated the first Republican primary debate as his presidential rivals took turns firing attacks at the 38-year-old political newcomer.
Mr Ramaswamy, a multi-millionaire entrepreneur who has never run for office, was branded an “amateur” and a “rookie” but drew applause as Donald Trump’s strongest defender on the stage.

The debate in Milwaukee descended into a chaotic shouting match as the eight candidates clashed over Mr Trump’s candidacy and his numerous criminal cases.

I wish the Republican Party would just allow a policy only debate, not attacking each other and no game show audience. I really just want to hear the differences between DeSantis,Ramaswany,Scott, and maybe Haley. That’s plenty.

If he is convicted but still becomes president, I'm interested to see how other world governments will be looked upon making policy with a convicted criminal.
Seems to me that if he's convicted, the very first thing it means is that he was a proven liar.

Ramaswamy wanting to divert resources away from Ukraine rules him out for me. There is no way that handing a victory to an aggressive dictator will somehow be a safe or cheap option. Ukrainian victory means fewer problems for the USA.
Ukrainian victory will result in nuclear use by Russia lol. Russia will never accept Ukraine victory and will risk nuclear use to prevent that. That will only create more problems for USA. Vivek is 100% right here. People raised the same objections to getting out of Vietnam war about not handing autocrats in North Vietnam a victory. Except in this case it's even more dangerous as Russia has nukes and will likely use them if Ukraine was winning.
