I legitimately bought this because of this video, and it's just as sexy as you'd expect. the loss of visible monitor wires, and added desk space is incredible. The funny downside is it makes any wired object on the desk look out of place, because you likely won't have that many wires running across the desk anymore. And it was just as easy to put together as this video makes it look. I didn't have to even lay eyes on the single page manual.
And yeah, I used the amazon link from the forums. I hope you got a kick-back for that =D

I have one of these stands, upgraded to support my 2-over-3 display setup, and I can say from experience that it is SO much more modular than this video or even the company's website could even hint at. They have a link on their site to a distributor that sells individual components like stand poles, bases, and telescopic wings, and there's a guide on the Ergotech website that tells you what components you need to upgrade any of their kits to any of their other kits. However, the way they're assembled lets you build configurations that they didn't even think of. You can have wings attached to the ends of the first wings to allow mounting speakers on either side of the displays, or even theoretically 5-display surround setups. You can have multiple bases/poles to attach these monsters to the back of your desk with clamps or with grommet mounts. Not to mention that the parts are interchangeable between kits. With the kits for a 1-over-2 configuration and a 3 display configuration (because good luck finding a 2-over-3 kit), and no additional parts, I built my 2-over-3 and still had all the parts for another basic 1-display stand that I gave to my wife for her monitor so she could adjust it freely.
I wish I could get it in words just how customizable and modular these things really are. I could go on for hours about it. When Linus says the sky's the limit, he didn't realize how accurate that statement was. If you're looking for a stand to support some crazy obscure setup, I guarantee you'll find the parts you need from Ergotech to make it happen.

I have one of these. Everything about it is perfect except the stand which arrived slightly bent. It's not enough to warrant getting a full replacement but it does cause the entire stand, monitors and all, to rotate when something bumps one of the side monitors.

As a thought for that mounting bracket system, and I do run 3 monitors, I'd pull the center monitor slightly out in front of the side ones.
    - Allowing the center monitor to overlap the sides bezels, giving a single line.
    - This may require setting up a custom bezel arrangement, but for Nvidia surround, that's included in the set-up steps.
(actually only takes seconds to 'line up' the road images left/right in that image and your done.)
My current monitors have an overlay of about 2 to 2.25 inch's, giving me a single bezel to look at and smooth transition of the image from side to center.
    - The side monitors are angled in for that wrap around feeling, so setting the FOV for whatever your playing or watching leads to some immersive experiences.
    - The tested monitors, using the max extension on the system, probably leads to shaking or bouncing of the side monitors if the desk or floor have any movement. (that can be somewhat annoying in locations with traffic.)

a nice thing whould be 3 connections(hdmi or displayport) at the bottem where you connect your pc. and than a connection at the top to connect to the monitor. so you have less cable running

There's really a lot of "gotcha"s regarding monitor stands and I don't think you covered them all.
Plastic hinges, bolts, bolt housings, etc can make even the toughest mostly metal stands lack for durability.
Amount/evenness of monitor sag (though this monitor seems to use counterbalancing).
Forward/backwards movement to bring the monitor to the very front of a deep or even average desk. Looks like an issue here.
Max height. Ideally you could fit a pair of bookshelf speakers under the monitor, maybe even the driver portion of a 2.1 desktop sub.
Compatibility with one/two monitors. Might be an issue here, it doesn't look like those arms can close in enough (though they likely can if using rails). But it doesn't seem to offer you the freedom to push an unwanted monitor to the side like you can with a two hinged arm.
And lastly max/min clamp settings. I have both a thick and thin desk, and only the thick one at approx 1.5" fits the minimum clamp setting of my (different) stand. It'd be fine if the desk had large square metal support frames in the right position, but most don't. Also depth of clamp in case the desk has a backboard.

Linus: If you don't have a voice agent, GET ONE! There is a ton of money and work in voiceover and animation voicing, and you can do it from anywhere these days. Your vocal delivery has undetectable static and pops (Ps and Ts), and excellent tonal range and expression. I would rate your voice as very friendly for a wide range of ages.
Thanks for this review. I like this product and am glad to see it was easy to set up. Monitors can be had so cheaply, I'm going to set up my dream array.

The xfx one is the same skeleton as the ergotech one. I believe xfx uses ergotech as manufacturer and put in their own stand with audio pass through and usb hub. I bought the ergotech model a few years ago, designed and made an ABS cover for the stand so it is very similar to the xfx one. I don't need usb hub or audio pass through, so I put in a card reader.

But mine are only 1080p monitors i will eventually upgrade screen atleast the center i want 2560x1600. I only have one gtx 780 gigabyte overclocked runs fine, but yes i see where if i went up on all 3 my gaming performance would take a serious hit.

Nice review of the stand, I liked the close-ups of clamps and the extra review of the extension of the stand for actually large monitors (27 in) and the wobble factor gets bad (as noted).
Don't always feel you have to say something bad. A review does not always have to have negatives.
Nice additional info on the graphics card power needed.

The black bars separating the monitors are always a deal breaker for me. Wouldn't mind it for having windows open and multi-tasking, but for adding to gaming experience I just don't see how it's appealing. Even if they weren't there, I would probably still wait until there's some kind of single surround monitor technology.

I would rather have 1 big monitor that had proper aspect ratio than to have two side monitors that look distorted due to aspect ratio. It is a pretty sweet looking setup. But it would make my eyes bug out having to look at distorted side images. If I *DID* have three panels I would use the extra real estate for regular desktop use and NOT for gaming.

If you can spring for the extra $100 or something I strongly recommend the WSGF Freedom XL Quad stand. I have that one and it is seriously built like a tank and it doesn't require the telescopic extensions and would fit three 30inch monitors with ease. I have three 27s and and have probably 20cms of rail left on the ends. Also as Linus mentioned the build quality is nothing short of outstanding, I mean the pivots are built like a Mechwarriors foot and snap on off with complete ease. Simply one of the best products I have ever bought, and I mean that because if are looking for a multi-monitor stand this one will last you for life or probably outlive you.

Brain learns to ignore the bezels in few hours, but if they're behind each other the distance difference breaks the immersion. Your suggestion works in say EVE Online where u only have multiple instances of the same game, but not with surround where it you're supposed to get immersed. Brain also gets used to the "fish eye", but only if the distances and angles are correct to the eye

You gotta have a pretty beast rig to be able to handle decent framerates, and you would pretty much have to constantly upgrade your pc. I rather get an amazing multi gpu setup and play games on ultra + eye candy for a very long time for half the cost.

Bear in midn the camera they're using enhances the difference massively.
(It's like when you use a phone camera and half the image is white and black, everything between is highly contrasted and much more than it would be if you saw it in person)

the display in the middle is probably an IPS panel LCD display. I am now regretting to buy TN panel LCD displays now :)

Medieval Blast It is an Asus Proart monitor, ips panel. Personally I just game at 60 fps so IPS is great for me plus some editing here and there

Yeah, cause, with an TN panel you will automagically always sit in the perfect sweet spot in front of it...

Done watching; The stand looks cool. Very good option, competitive price, but...not necessarily necessary in my eyes. I'd get one if I had the expense to spare, but I'd probably get three identical monitors anyways, meaning the stands would keep them at the same height, and without the adjustable-ness for each arm a monitor is on, it's not worth it too much for me personally...

i'd definately buy this monitor stand if i had the money, considering that i'm 6"2 tall and i find my stock monitor stands too low in my opinion :P the monitors on the video do seem to go to a pretty decent height so they would definately be something i'd consider :D

motorcate 6'1" here. I personally put my desk on some boards under each foot, with foam for vibration dampening, as I record and such. Helps, with my sub right next to the desk on the floor, on foam itself. I really should record with headphones, but you know xD

Ugh this vesa mount has the same problem every different one has: You cant pull the monitors towards you or away. They are at a fixed distance. I like my monitors closer to my eyes, but they are fixed at that distance..

Fit my 27 inch monitors fine, but they are debezzeled.

@@Glitchinventers Three months later and not the guy you replied to, but as someone that owns one and is shopping for more parts to make it crazier, yes 100%. This monitor stand is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I've got a comment somewhere around here from five years ago gushing about it, but I used the parts from two different kits to add two monitors above the original three. It's withstood a lot of abuse over the years without showing any signs of wear, and now I'm looking to add more parts to it. It's built like a tank and modular to an insane degree. If you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.

I am helping build a DUI / distracted driving simulator and have a reasonable budget. I want to know how you could take off the bezels and what tv's you would suggest for a 3 monitor stand. I am probably going to buy the cockpit and mount from Simrides......I just want the simulation to be the best it can with the limited amount of $ we have. I was thinking about buying a desktop from newer that was all built but I have a hard time figuring out graphics cards and how many ports the desktop would have. the software for the sim is from AplusB software and it is the Pro Edition.
