We continue our Island hopping Greece with with some amazing views in Folegandros, Greece filmed in 4k drone. Our Greece travel tips start with this beautiful island that turned out to be the one that stole our hearts. Our airbnb (see link below) was perched on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea and John was able to use his drone for some amazing views of this hidden gem island as we hiked the trails that crossed the island. Our favorite Greek island so far has a rugged landscape, miles of stone fences and hiking trails, an iconic church, beautiful shoreline and some very friendly people.

As the retirement travelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become travel vloggers and start a RUclips channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.
In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.
In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a suitcase and a small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next ten years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

Great video I used to live in Santorini. I used to sit out on my balcony and look at Foleganthros and wonder what what it was like! Thanks for sharing it brought back some old memories.

I ran across your channel when I searched Indy 500 experience. You guys are so fun to watch! I'm not a pro when it comes to making content, but I do know what I like to watch, and those T-shirts are not it. They don't look natural. You two are so good in front of a camera, your editing skills are top notch, both of you are naturally talented, you don't need to advertise with t-shirts on camera. It's kind of like preaching to the choir. Just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like.....

Named after Folegandros, son of King Minos , the ancient Greeks called it also the "Iron Island."

Hello RT and thanks for the video. We just returned from a trip to Greece and had a great time. Folegandros is on a my Greek friends bucket list and now it is on ours. I was hoping to get "lost" on Folegandros for two weeks. Read some books and get as bored as possible. Getting "bored" and "lost" in the best possible sense. What do you think about two weeks? Also driving on the Greek Islands can be harrowing but I imagine Folegandros would be much better? Please share any thoughts you may have. Thanks again.
It is actually a perfect place to get both bored and lost. We didn’t have a car, but hiked a lot . It is too big to walk everywhere, but only has a few roads, little traffic and the towns are small. It is such a beautiful island. We would definitely go for 2 weeks, but the only drawback for us was very slow internet, which is problematic for our line of retirement work. 😉. Fantastic video! When was your visit (early May)? I am planning a trip and would love to go while there are wild flowers.
We think we were there during the third week of April. It was truly glorious with the flowers, but even if you miss them, you'll love the island. It's one of our favorite places. John & Bev

Wondering if you went to Folegandros from Athens or one of the Island’s? We will be in Syros and could ferry to Folegandros with a 3 hour stop in Santorini according to the ferry schedule, but I am wondering how sick I will get on the fast ferries! I do get car sick and will bring along meds but what was your experience?
Do you think the three hour layover in Santorini is enough to catch a few good moments/pictures/lunch there?
So excited for our trip to Greece!
We took the short ferry ride from Santorini to Folegandros. We didn’t have any sickness issues, but the seas weren’t bad and about 2-3 hours was our longest ferry.
3 hours isn’t much for Santorini, but you can get an Instagram shot and lunch. 🤣 Have fun and let us know how it goes.

@@RetirementTravelers We are visiting Athens, of course, and several islands: Corfu, Paros, Syros, Golegandros, Spetses, and possibly Crete, so a short stop in Santorini to get a few good pictures and lunch is just what we were hoping for. Thanks for the encouragement about the ferries and your overall positive attitude everywhere you go....its a blessing to see you enjoy each other's company and explore lots of beautiful places! Maybe someday we will be able to meet up at one of those beautiful places!

Loved your footage. I'm there in summer. On Drone Aware it all looks like a restricted zone, did you have any issues flying?
We didn’t have any issues. There is no airport on the island and very few people when we visited. We will check out Drone Aware. Thanks for the heads up. John and Bev
Thanks for the video! We'll be visiting Folegandros in the fall. I know the island is very small, but did you feel you needed a car to get around? For instance, walking from Chora to Ano Meria, or Agkali? Or Korovastasis to Chora?
We got a ride from our host from the port to our place near Chora. It is a great island for hiking or running and you can get to those places, but it is a lot of hiking. There are some buses that run the main route as well, but not sure of the timing. Hope you have a great trip and would probably recommend staying in Chora area since it is centrally located.
