Hi Reshmi! I clicked on this so fast. Trini food is amazing! 😋🇹🇹
Trinibagonian feels long as hell to say
@@oneone15342 because it's two islands but one country
@@oneone15342
Just say Trini
Hi Reshmi, I watch your videos and I can agree as a Trini it feels amazing that our culture are being recognized
So happy to see you try my country's food on your channel. You have to come to Trinidad and taste it..
Hi Natasha, I know that you dream of having our country become recognized internationally for it’s cuisine. I guess this video is a step in that direction. Keep up the good work with your videos. Great video ladies.
@@RCLEE23 it certainly is and I'm happy about it.
They'll love carnival and double etc on the spot hot.
Yes come try real trini food.
Love your videos 👁👄👁
I’m Trinidadian so this feels great to be noticed and for our culture to be recognized🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹😁😁😁
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Yep
Same🇹🇹
Me too🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Yes Trini Bagan to the bone.
T&T food is the best! 😉🇹🇹
Thanks for this...

That is the thickest, no sauce doubles I've ever seen🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol I agree and it looks cold too

Bruh those are singles😫😭
That bara dryer than my whatsapp 👁👄👁
😂😂😂 alluh to wicked but them doubles looking like it had steroids injected into them
Thank you so much for trying Trinbagonian food. It's a mix of Indian, African, Chinese and spanish influences. There's a lot more dishes to try too. Glad you all enjoyed
Thank you for saying Trinbagonian. Apparently like the others forgot!
Authentic girls who genuinely have alot of interest not only for the food but learning about other cultures just brilliant.
Agreed
I applauded them.
Its amazing
As a Trinidadian who is obsessed with Korean culture, this brings joy to my eyes. Lil heads up, the dish with the oxtail is known as pelau pronounced peh+lau (au as in luau)
I as a Trinidad, i am also obssesed...
Sameee
Sameeee
Oxtail pelau? Never heard of that one.
@@el.aye.bee.4477 Same
I love when my culture gets recognized🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🌴🌴
Now imagine if y’all get it the way we actually make it . It’ll be 10xtimes better cause I’ve definitely never seen carrots in roti
Exactly my point who d ass in their right mind put carrots in roti
D rota ha channa in it The Suppost to Put Aloo Or Curry Chicken or A Meat In d roti
I am a Trinidadian, the rice dish looks like what we call "pelau" as to your curiosity it is indeed made like a stew with soy sauce or browning (burnt sugar sauce) and the roti is made of dahl (split peas) grains it's called dahlpouri, the 2 fry bread dishes (doubles) are usually served with alot more sauce and is usually served with channa, sweet sauce, shadonbenny, cucumber, chutney and pepper. Alot of topping to choose from 😁
Yeah
I can confirm
Pelau isn't made with soy sauce that. In all my life never heard of anyone using soy sauce to make pelau. But yea everything else you said is right 👍. But the rice dish doesn't look like typical trini food to me. Gives me more Jamaican rice and peas and ox tail.
@@adeolareid1536 preach
That nah Pelau nor roti😭 that look like more JA than Trini food
That is not pelau, it looks like stewed oxtail with rice and peas.
As a Trinidadian thank you for stepping out of the box to showcase my culture 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
totally agree
@@Marleydavis8 Hi thank you for visiting our channel. The french last names originates from Colonial times. The French colonized our country during the seventeen centuries. Our country has a rich history of diverse races and culture which is reflected in our names, races, food, and festivals.
Thanks for showcasing our Trinbagonian foods.
The doubles probably had tamarind, the acidic taste you mentioned.
Your main dish was pelau=rice cooked with pigeon peas, herbs and spices.
Glad to see that you cleaned your plates/ate all your dishes.
Being Trinidadian-born & currently living in Toronto, CA, it's always nuff pride felt seeing my nations food/culture enjoyed by people all over the world!
"Allyuh get a rell taste ah we culture dey wee! Trini sweet too bad lol" 🇹🇹🇹🇹
it's 8:00am in Trinidad right now and i am literally eating doubles and watching this video lol, now my keyboard is all messy. Doubles in Trinidad are usually way messier and has more sauce.
100% true😋

Wait na, I've known you for over 10 years and this is how I find your RUclips account? Hint.. pearl04tl, lol
buhh wha de. Dev! LOL

the type of roti you guys ate is called a dhalpuri, the grainy texture is the dhal(split peas) that is cooked inside the roti, the roti is then stuff with any kind of meat that is curry or even stew.
😩
Yeah that's what they were eating
Mmm my favourite 😋
Stew is NOT for roti noooo lol
This made me genuinely so happy. My mom is Trinidadian, but aside from that, just seeing you both so open & most importantly respectful to other cultures cuisines is just so beautiful. Loved that you guys enjoyed it. Will definitely be watching your channel! (This is my first video I’ve found of you guys btw)
We shall teach you the Trini way to eat doubles 🤩 thanks for trying our food. It's nice being recognized ☺️
Chubby was my childhood drink, especially bubblegum and grape flavor😋
For me, its blueberry, banana, purple power, Martian green, and kola 😋
Same😭 so long I ain't drink chubby and justysterday i drank one its really noce to see other people enjoying your culture
@@farrahforbes3934 true
sameeee & the cream soda
Trinis are so lucky since we grew up eating those amazing foods...and one of the girls commented the curry is different which is true- it is in fact the best type of curry in the world because of the unique blend of Caribbean herbs and spices...those doubles are severely lacking per Trini island standards yet their substandardness is still awesome...
I totally agree
Here I was thinking about how hard those barra looked and I saw your comment, they should come to trinidad and actually get the real thing
Agree with ur doubles comment
I like that "severely lacking" lol. You explained it perfectly.
All thanks to India.
The doubles looks more "gourmet" than the regular Trini doubles. The barra isn't normally so firm and there is more sauce in the doubles
this is just beautiful to watch! thank you for exploring different cultures open heartidly
I’m from 🇹🇹 Trinidad, so glad you enjoyed the food, you could never go wrong with chicken roti and doubles
Lots of love from Trinidad. Love you gus. Yes the doubles has chick peas, cucumbers, tamarind sauce. Its the most popular street food. The roti contains curried potatoes, curried managoes and curried chicken. The roti has split peas cooked in it. In Trinidad we are descendants from india, china, france and so many more. Our foods are a mix of our many cultures.
Yep Latvia, Java, portugese, etc.
Also descendants of Africans
Yes of course, Africans.
True people from southern India, China and Java were brought to TT as indentured servants
Portuguese, Latvia, France, Spain, England, et, as colonizers.
@@wordhermit3tinvestigate4yo31 I'm a descendant of African and Chinese with Indian relatives. We are a multicultural country.
It is a pleasure to see you both trying my island's food. Thanks so much for this. Made my day. Blessings.
I love how authentic this is 🥰
The "crunchy" stuff in the doubles was cucumbers. I'm so happy that y'all enjoyed our food! 🇹🇹❤
Wow I am so happy to see my culture recognized i live in Trinidad 🇹🇹 you should try our Sunday lunch its Macaroni pie, bake or stew chicken with pigeon peas and potatoes salad
You forgot the Callaloo!
I watched this whole thing because they were just so fascinated with everything I thought was so regular 😂😂 great video!
Thank you for trying our food. I’m delighted that you enjoyed it
I really like you two. One thing I observed about Korean people in general is that they appreciate strongly spiced foods. When we have potlucks at work, my Korean colleagues try everything...even foods many people consider spicy... they are very openminded about food. Koreans rock!
I’m a Trinidadian and I’m so happy that you guys are trying out our food 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Watching you guys eat the food I crave daily (but can't always get) was great. Keep exploring the Trini foods!
I’m so glad u guys enjoyed it 💯🇹🇹
The sour taste in the doubles is tarminde or mango sauce and crunchy pickled is grated cucumbers that's has been seasoned.... 🇹🇹
My mom is from trinidad, so seeing this vid makes me so happy. Trini food is unmatched 🔥
Shut ur trap u guys can't come against Jamaica.. everything we do u guys follow
@@rickball8591 say it to my face bish
Am telling you gurll Trini hates us but then act like they don't when their using something for us.. that's y tommy lee won over $300 million Jamaican for harassment a few years ago.. they hate us for even Usain bolt.. Awww...glad you enjoyed our food...so much more to taste
It is so good to try eating different food from different countries.
It was a pleasure watching you guys eating some of my country food......and you did eat it the right way with your hands 😊😊......🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
So glad you guys did this
Yall need to do a trinidad food pt.2
Curry crab and dumpling, curry potato and channa, pumpkin, anchar, curry chicken.
Aloe pie and palourie with mango chutney and tamberine sauce. Palau with cold slaw. An apple J. 🥳❤
I live near a Trinidadian restaurant and their food is SO BOMB! Im obsessed with their doubles🤤 I agree with one of the comments saying that usually doubles are more filled and saucy. The sour thing you’re tasting is most likely tamarind sauce. I always ask for extra on the side. At my local spot they have this sauce called “peppa sauce” its so good. If ever you go back you should ask for some. Its super spicy tho😂 love from montreal
Thank you. Much love from T&T
The sour taste in the doubles is most likely tamarind sauce. It’s usually a kind of tangy bittersweet taste.
So nice to see you enjoying trini food. Yay!
I am soooo happy to see you guys eating my cultures food
Trinidad and Tobago, home of delicious food! This is only a sneak peek tho!
So true
Yup. 🇹🇹🇹🇹
Hey guys new to the channel and I love y’all very unique and willing to try different cultures dish keep up the good work I’m Trinidad 🇹🇹 by the way
I really appreciate this as a trinidadian 🇹🇹. And thanks for not disrespecting our culture and being open to learn.
1. Doubles : barra and channa(chick peas)
2. Chicken roti : roti with chicken and sometimes aloo(patato)
3. Pelau and oxtail. Pelau is basically stewed rice and peas I guess.
Awwwww yesss I'm happy y'all tried our food awww love from all the way from Trinidad and Tobago 💗💗😌💗💗🙋
The stew is made with a burnt caramel with our green seasoning. We also stew other meats like that.
As a Trinidadian. I am so proud
I am also to see our dishes highlighted internationally
Yasssss I love that other cultures tried my cultures food !
Glad u guys loved it and there's so much more....
That's dhalpurie roti. It's filled with boiled and ground split peas and then the roti is rolled and cooked with some oil. Then it's wrapped with curried potatoes and different meats or even shrimps.
I'm happy you like our food 🙂🇹🇹
I like Korean food 😋
I always hear that Trinifmdad has the best KFC, but I had a spicy and sticky KFC in Busan, South Korea and it was pretty close to ours.
@time machine when East Indians came to Trinidad, they brought their style of food as well as many other cultural influences. The spelling however, of many Hindi words that we use in Trinidad, have changed over time.
