Thanks Taste of Trini. Markets like this with such fresh foods of excellent local provenance are like theme parks to cooks like us. Chaguanas Market is a true farmers market and I love it!
Awesome video man when I was a kid I used to walk around that market and sell green onion My grandmother used to take me to the market so I didn't get in trouble that's how I used to earn some money when I was a kid
Yes Cheryl, I order it from an online Thai supermarket now. I live in a small provincial town and even the oriental store here doesn't carry it. I order it online in large amounts and make all my seasoning, then I freeze it in ice cubes 😋 It is only available fresh here in the bigger cities with large Caribbean communities like London, Birmingham and Bristol.
Glad you enjoyed the island! Fun fact, the two fisherman you spoke to in the video are my family! My cousin was the one with the carite and the fine gentleman with the hammerhead is my dad!! I remember that market all too well. Very glad you enjoyed your stay, shout out to you and yours in the UK!!
That is awesome! The fish was so fresh and of the highest quality, your relations really know their trade. I'll do another Chaguanas Market video when I return in summer 2018. Chaguanas Market is a theme park for cooks like me!
The whole point of the internet and especially social media is that we can connect from afar. Not everybody has the means or the good health to travel.
Pearl Sherrie Samuel Central London is six hours away from me, but Manchester is only an hour. I'm trying to grow some under a lamp. I can get coriander/cilantro locally but it's a poor substitute. I want to reproduce the authentic Trini taste.
I can understand how you would be homesick. I'm so glad it brought back happy memories for you! Stay tuned for more videos in the series. I'm off to Paramin in the next episode...
Erick Juma The best fish and seafood I ate during my visit was salt pollock cooked by Taste of Trini's mum, and the super tasty street food shrimp pies.

WE ARE SUCH BLESSED PEOPLE. THANK YOU JESUS.... MAY EVERY CREED AND RACE FIND AND EQUAL PLACE AND MAY GOD BLESS OUR NATION....👀 FROM CANADA..👍👍❤✋✋
We are blessed! I like to celebrate the difference between peoples and culture, and I ignore and distrust those who seek to divide.

Just make sure when you go back home tell your lot how kind, friendly and warm Trinidadians and Caribbean people are.
I'm happy to do that - I can't even talk about TnT without gushing!
