    He's actually 1 of 6 guards, not 1 of 5 to win DPOY. Marcus Smart won it last year and became number 6. But nonetheless a dope video. Definitely one of my favorite guards. Incredible monster on defense. His record steals season will never be broken.

    Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis, Michael Cage, Sam Perkins and Alvin Robertson are underrated stars who went pro in the 1984 NBA Draft.
    They were very strong NBA players during their active days.

      Why Cage? He was okay as a rebounder

    • @KZA518

      I wouldn’t call sam Perkins a star.. he had a few seasons where he put up fringe all star numbers then became a good starter and role player.. said with Kevin Willis

    • @OrionOodama
      @OrionOodama Год назад +2

      Although Michael Cage and Sam Perkins didn't made it to annual All-Star (Kevin Willis and Otis Thorpe were one-timers), they were known for longevity and respectable careers.
      Cage was a one-time league's leading rebounder and "iron man", but also has the dubious record of less than one assist and never made a three-pointer.
      Perkins could hold a curse-like record in appearing in three (3) NBA Finals with three different teams, and all of them were beaten by Phil Jackson-led squads.

    • @ryansack5198
      @ryansack5198 Год назад

      @@KZA518 Willis & Perkins were both very very good starters for a decent stretch. Perkins could have been an all-star in 91-92 as a Laker. Willis was still a very productive starter into his mid 30's, averaging 16 & 8.5 for the 97-98 Rockets at age 35.

    • @KZA518
      @KZA518 Год назад

      @ryansack5198 there's a difference between really good starter and a star.. I literally Said they each had a stretch of a few years of putting up fringe all star numbers then were good starters then role players...

    With his steals and ability to pass, he could be a backup on the Spurs all-time team as PG. Because, you have Parker(true PG that got a lot better as his career progressed into his prime) and Gervin to start, Robertson and Ginobili(on the all-time guard list); imagine that quadruple feature on that all-time team lacing em up...10 steals?!?! Multiple times! I did not think that was possible once versus NBA talent!

  • @Crimendorsement
    @Crimendorsement Год назад +5

    Let it also be known that he had THREE more Triple Doubles with either 7 or 8 steals. He was 8 total steals away from FOUR Quadruple Doubles. An absolute monster on the court. Truly LOVED watching him play for MKE. In the modern NBA media landscape, that focuses primarily on stats and drama, he'd be a headline story every night.

    My all time Spurs team:
    PG: Alvin Robertson
    SG: George Gervin
    SF: Kawhi Leonard
    PF: Tim Duncan
    C: Victor Wembanyama
    Yeah, I have Wemby over Robinson. I’m sorry, I’ve seen enough from Wemby already. He’s doing things 20 year old rookies shouldn’t be doing, and he’s doing them averaging under 30 minutes. He’s a defensive enforcer as a rookie already rivaling PEAK Duncan and peak Robinson.
    And Robertson over Tony Parker. Alvin, obviously, brings elite defense. And he’s a bigger guy too, at 6’4. Can easily switch onto shooting guards.
    Alvin wouldn’t need much worry about scoring, he can set up and dish it out to the other four, so he can put more energy into lockdown defense.
    This team has elite scoring, elite shooting, front court dominance on both ends of the floor (particularly shot blocking), and decent level passing.
    4/5 are elite defenders (not just GOOD defenders, but DPOY level defense). Alvin and Kawhi both can steal like crazy. Duncan and Wemby both block like crazy. Alvin is 6’4, George and Kawhi are both 6’7, and then 6’11 Tim and 7’4 Wemby. Thats a big team.
    This Spurs team could hang with any all-time team from any franchise.
