    I'm 27 and I remember this show somehow. The opening part of it is what reminded me I have watched this before, but i have no clue where.

    Very reminiscent of I Love Lucy. She even sort of looks like her: the eyes, the mouth, and so forth.

      When Bob Schiller and Bob Weiskopf wrote some of the early episodes of "Pete and Gladys," Lucille Ball chided them by saying, "You gave some of your best material to that OTHER redhead!" ("The Lucy Show," of course, started in 1962-63, after "Pete and Gladys" went off the air)

    I never heard of this show because I was age 2 during 1962, and this was never shown on tv in later years. It must not have been on tv very long. Harry Morgan looks so young. This show is funny.

    Interesting, so many comments about Frank Cady (Sam Drucker, Petticoat Junction), but none about Majel Barrett? No one remembers Nurse Chapel from Star Trek or Deanna Troi's mother from Next Generation? Gene Roddenberry's wife?

    Some of these old TV show themes are so concocted and corny now lol. This one is not very memorable, certainly no one can easily remember it to whistle it. Note Arthur Marx is one of the writers, Groucho's son..

    • @mikeallentoff2692
      @mikeallentoff2692 4 года назад

      The theme for Pete & Gladys was composed by the legendary Wilbur Hatch, who did all of Lucy's shows (he also arranged the I Love Lucy theme) and provided all of the music for that series as well. Prior to tv, he wrote many themes for the radio shows and developed the classic intro / bridge / exit structure that continues to this day.

    This is godawful. Cara Williams was actually a very capable dramatic actress (she turned in a number of laudable performances in Alfred Hitchcock Presents) but a substitute for Lucy she was NOT.
