    Nicely done, Brian. I've yet to attempt any Vinyl Tag out there, but maybe soon! I must say, watching your videos (and particularly this one) I take note and admire your ease of delivery throughout. Smooth and seamless, and always enjoyable. A decent amount of overlap here vinyl wise. My lone Japanese pressing is Talking Heads 'Little Creatures' - which I didn't realize was coming from Japan until after it was on its way here! The perils of eBay ordering in lockdown a few years ago - ha! But, it came with a cool lyric sheet and notes all in Japanese.

      Hi Ed, Well, thank you for the compliment. I did once post a video with many hilarious and not so hilarious bloopers, so thing do not always go well! It's a comedy of errors sometimes. But, I do quite a bit of public speaking, so that helps. That's cool that you got an accidental Japanese pressing. I still don't know if they sound better, but they look great!

    • @onmyturntable7036

      @EmbryonicRobot My pleasure. It is a comedy of errors for sure. I'm taking it one video at a time! I have to speak and facilitate a good amount for work also, but it's all scripted and repetitive. It's not like talking about records at all 😆

    Brian Eno was a great choice @ sunrise 🌅. VU, like Warhol, had their finger on the pulse of the future. The Clash was a good call. I've never seen that Smiths album before. The packaging is excellent. It looks to be high-quality. ☔️

    Fine response. Way to stick up for Bruce and his original. I do love Sugar's Copper Blue but have yet to pick up File Under Easy Listening. I thought that you might have the Bob Dylan at Budokan record. I've been to one vinyl bars years ago and I think it was really before it became much of a thing. The Clash record is a perfect pick and even though there are some lesser tracks, I enjoy hearing the entire album.

    Great Video. Brian from Tokyo Record Style was one of the first people to sub to my channel and reach out. I have watched 4 other people take a whack at this tag, and loved their album selections. I want to do it as well... but since I'm so new to the VC and my first video was a response to Noble Records Summer Tag. I felt like I needed to wait and tackle if before the end of the year while it's still 2024. Nice picks. Adam Ant! Love the King Crimson pick. I'm the same if I sit with music too quiet, my mind wanders, so I need an album that requires me to give it my attention. Doolittle! Fun track for the end of your life play.

    “This is going to be way too Japanese for me”…”I don’t know if this sounds better than a domestic release”…”Every time I thought of a record I thought it would ruin the experience “…”That sounds antithetical I suppose “…I love the Velvet Underground. Excellent description. “It tends to be noisy, not the street I live on”…Whenever I see a Sugar album I remember seeing them at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver early 90s. Cool Bob Mould RSD thing. I’m hearing the term Vinyl Bar for the first time in this video. Like you, that’s something I’ve not heard of either. “By the way, there is another John Cale video coming. Hopefully Friday”…Good call on Exodus. I like Beach House but haven’t got any of their stuff. I have that Clash record. I was not surprised you had a rare Smiths record. “Essentially it’s a giant fold out of various things”…”It goes on and on”…Some excellent quotable moments as always Brian. ✌️

    Some cool Japanese pressings and etc. I have very little in the way of that except for maybe a CD by Hanoi Rocks that is still unopened and has the OBI strip. I used to have a Peter Gabriel Japan pressing of the "Scratch" album, but it wasn't in good shape, so I didn't keep it. It did still have the Japanese insert though. Thanks for paying homage to KC's Discipline, you know that they are one band that I have a bit of a liking for. About the only thing I remember about Sony Walkmans has to do with Italy, since I was there when they were the rage. So I heard a lot of Italian rock on the Walkman back in the day...except for one that I imported with me on the airplane which was a copy of "In Concert" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Weird, huh? By the way, I did watch your Italian vacation videos and the cool vinyl you found there....yes I was extremely jealous. Great choice with the Imperfectly Perfect record...The Clash was always imperfectly perfect....perfection in imperfection...which is why I love Big Audio Dynamite (speaking of The Clash) so much, awesome imperfect sounding music with a strong dance vibe. Love, love, love The Pixies. I forgot that the show "From" uses The Pixies cover of "Que Sera Sera" as a theme song until I watched the 2nd season. Such an awesome cover song, probably one of my favorite cover songs. You always have the coolest records to show off, it seems to be an endless supply.

      It's been a while, but I do recall your appreciation of KC 🙂 Emerson, Lake & Palmer in Italy! I think Italians love prog, that was probably a good choice. Italy was awesome, though extremely hot, but the records did not melt! BAD is awesome! I haven't heard of the show "From." It might be worth watching for the theme song. I might have to listen to that track. I wish I had an endless supply of records 👍

    HP you need to do a push for 4 subs to get you over the line into VC royalty. Vinyl Richie has done this thread as well. I have heaps of Japanese stuff and probably should do it, but I can't be arsed because some of the questions are a bit WTF? Eg. what is a sunrise soundtrack? I'm up at that time everyday for work and whatever is on my ipod is sunrise music. The Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Beasts, Eno, DJ Shadow, The Congos, Coltrane...anything basically. What a coincidence I listened to the first 3 Sugar studio albums last weekend. Killer! Sandinista is perfect how it is, warts and all. If it's good enough for Joe it's good enough for me as he once said "The fact that it was all thrown down in one go and then released like that makes it doubly outrageous - triply outrageous. I can only say I’m proud of it, warts and all. It’s a magnificent thing and I wouldn’t change it even if I could." Way to depress your funeral goers with Radiohead. You're not going to die? That's a lot of confidence HP. They can play Abba at my funeral as far as I'm concerned. I won't be around to hate so I don't really care. Well done on getting through this epic task. Cheers...KOS

    • @EmbryonicRobot
      @EmbryonicRobot  3 месяца назад +2

      Don't worry, KOS. By tomorrow I will be down to 993 or so. In fact, I was watching it closely today. Started with 992 and then went down to 989, before it bounced back. I cannot explain it. I have always wanted to be royalty, though. I am rarely awake before sunrise, and that is still a mysterious time of day for me, so I chose accordingly. It's a tough question. I think Joe is ultimately right about Sandinista. My mother always said that she was gong to live forever, but she failed and I need to make up for it. With my luck, they will probably really play Abba at my funeral just to piss me off, though I suppose I will be dead and won't hear it (I hope)!

    The Japanese pressing of the Adam and the Ants album is very cool. I think your sunrise pick would make me want to go back to sleep. I like Sleaford Mods. Their regional accent is made fun of by people in other parts of England. Desert Shore is the only Nico album that I own. The first song is great. The second song is great. The third song is great but all the songs sound the same. Sandinista is a great choice. My choice would be the Beatles White album. Back to Sandinista, there are 4 or so dongs that aren’t good but I think the rest is very good. So that means there are 5 very good sides. I still think The T|TS go better with sunrise and sunset.
    So my video Japan, GG Allin, and the Beatles doesn’t qualify as a Japan Vinyl Tag video.

    • @EmbryonicRobot

    Great work Brian. I have that Eno album, but can't say I'm familiar with it. Springsteen is a good choice, but kudos for taking a left turn with 'Discipline'. I fancy that Sugar album, as I only have 'Copper Blue', but to be fair I bought that vinyl album after my interest had peaked during a period when I was listening to grunge and, quite differently, The Lemonheads. There was a great rush of new music then, it was so hard to keep up. The Sleaford Mods are bloody great. To my ears their sound is unique, and they're a hoot live. The subject matter of Jason's lyrics are from deep in the 'underclass', and both disturbing and fascinating. Where I was brought up, today would be a hotbed of the rogue behaviour The Mods sing/rap about. Fortunately, it wasn't so bad when I was a nipper. 'Sandanista' a good choice. That John Hassell album has a lovely cover. Don't know him though. So many interesting choices throughout. Excellent.
