About this video -
In Switzerland, while on our way to Geneva from Interlaken we had an amazing experience. We took a car train shuttle for the first time in our lives.
We paid a toll tax of 27 Swiss Francs (Rs. 2000 approx INR) to cross the Lötschberg Tunnel. It was an expensive toll by any standard. But it was worth every penny. We had a great time on this train. It was a 20 minutes ride. We felt lucky that we took this route. Otherwise we would have missed this once in a lifetime experience.
Not only for us, in fact, even our French frieColette Salvi, experienced such a ride for the first time.
According to Wikipedia, The Lötschberg Tunnel is a 14 km long railway tunnel on the Lötschberg Line, which connects Spiez and Brig at the northern end of the Simplon Tunnel cutting through the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. Its ends are at the towns of Kandersteg (2 km away) in the canton of Berne and Goppenstein in the canton of Valais.The top elevation of the tunnel is 1,240 m (4,070 ft) above sea level, this is the highest point of the main Swiss railway network.

स्विट्जरलैंड के इंटरलाकन से जेनेवा जाते वक्त हमने एक बड़ा ही दिलचस्प रास्ता पार किया। हमने अपनी कार एक ट्रेन पर लोड कर दी। ऐसा हमने जीवन में पहली बार देखा था।
दरअसल हमें आगे जाने के लिए एक सुरंग को पार करना था। और सुरंग पार करने के लिए एक ट्रेन से जाना पड़ता है। इस सुरंग को लॉशबर्ग टनल कहते हैं। ये ट्रेन स्विट्जरलैंड के ही कैंडरस्टेग से गॉप्पनस्टाइन जाती है। राज्य की बात करें तो ये सुरंग कैंटन ऑफ बर्न और कैंटन ऑफ वालेय को जोड़ती है।
लॉशबर्ग टनल को पार करना काफी महंगा है। हमने इसके लिए 27 स्विस फ्रैंक यानि करीब 2 हजार रुपए का टोल टैक्स दिया। लेकिन जो अनुभव हुआ उसकी कीमत का अंदाजा लगाना बहुत मुश्किल है।
ये ट्रेन यात्रा करीब 14 किलोमीटर लंबी थी जिसे पूरा करने में करीब 20 मिनट का वक्त लगा।

It's a dream come true experience. I saw Lötschberg tunnel video during corona pandemic and noticed that these types of Car trains are run on this route. It is one of the beautiful scenic route in Swiss alps with height gaining upto 2000 meters

Hi Monali, thanks for watching. We hired a car from France because it was our base. We hired it for a week for our Switzerland trip. It costed us around 50 thousand INR if we remember it correctly plus fuel.

This was one of the worst experiences we had in our many travels, went in today, thought it would be fun but it was really terrible, no air no ventilation, the tunnel is very narrow also, just the size of the carriages.... on the way back i drove on the highway instead on the other end back to Bern, which was yes much longer but a really lovely highway with stunning views of the lake over Montreaux, great asphalt and overall pleasant. to keep in mind for other travellers. i don't suffer claustrophobia but man this was really a close call! i was out of breathe and also my wife didn't feel well. a stark contrast with the amazing oxygenated valleys on both ends!
not in line with the high quality standards of modern Switzerland, it is over 100 years old, i checked. oh well.....strongly suggest NOT going to take this trip if you suffer from claustrophobia.

As you must have seen from our expressions that we really enjoyed that tunnel. We were pleasantly shocked because we didn’t see anything like that before in India.
