The main reason why Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher stands out for me is not because they are a whole package(because every group is talented). I think the main reason why I love them is their dorkiness and their capacity to be themselves. There's nothing wrong with changing pronouns, some lyrics, or even the way the song is arranged for covers. The whole point of cover songs is to interpret your own version of the song. There's nothing disrespectful about it and most artists are aware of this fact. Dreamcatcher not changing the lyrics is more likely because they like the song better that way or their company told them they can just do the cover just like that. It's less about respect and more about preference-- like most cover songs.

I really salute this company. Activities like covering other artists should be freely done by a company's artist if they really want to hence also asking legal permission to do it if required. These things also help them grow as a performer and it helps them discover more things they're good at. I'm sad that there are girl groups and boy groups out there who are stuck in memorizing and practicing their music and choreo all day thus the reason for their skills to be limited to what they are taught to learn and do. I mean, I'm not pointing groups but it seems like that's what companies do. Music is freedom. It's also a healthy way of having good exposure since they neatly did their cover and it was great. I hope that other companies would also allow girl groups and boy groups to collab often. Moreover, there are also idols who are underrated and I really want them to get that proper recognition. K-pop is really an advancing and highly competitive field since it always adapt to change. If you don't work hard, surely you're going to be left behind. But that is also what makes K-pop absolutely unique and beautiful. So to all those boy groups and girl groups out there, kudos to you!! Yes! Pristin also uploaded covers of dance practices from Seventeen, f(x), IOI and other groups, the videos were really popular and they even got nominated to number 1 on some music shows after their debut, i'm sure it helped them a lot. Besides, you can see other sides of the idols and it's also a way to show respect to older groups who are their seniors, the fans appreciate this a lot ^^

I can't explain why, but these girls' version of this song has been really comforting to me in light of Jonghyun's death. There is something so simple and pure and uplifting about it. There's nothing wrong with changing pronouns, some lyrics, or even the way the song is arranged for covers. The whole point of cover songs is to interpret your own version of the song. There's nothing disrespectful about it and most artists are aware of this fact.
Dreamcatcher not changing the lyrics is more likely because they like the song better that way or their company told them they can just do the cover just like that. It's less about respect and more about preference-- like most cover songs.

The videos that compare both versions show how different they are. The tone, the feeling, even the music sounds. It's great that the girls just didn't try to copy the song (because a simple copy rarely beat the original) but they gave her own vibe in it. People who say that they prefer 1 version are all right. They are quite different.

I really salute this company. Activities like covering other artists should be freely done by a company's artist if they really want to hence also asking legal permission to do it if required. These things also help them grow as a performer and it helps them discover more things they're good at. I'm sad that there are girl groups and boy groups out there who are stuck in memorizing and practicing their music and choreo all day thus the reason for their skills to be limited to what they are taught to learn and do. I mean, I'm not pointing groups but it seems like that's what companies do.
Music is freedom. It's also a healthy way of having good exposure since they neatly did their cover and it was great. I hope that other companies would also allow girl groups and boy groups to collab often. Moreover, there are also idols who are underrated and I really want them to get that proper recognition. K-pop is really an advancing and highly competitive field since it always adapt to change. If you don't work hard, surely you're going to be left behind. But that is also what makes K-pop absolutely unique and beautiful.
So to all those boy groups and girl groups out there, kudos to you!!
