This was such a great surprise to wake up to. This was my FAVORITE ps1 game growing up. You inspired me to go dig out my DS and play Monster Rancher DS along side you and Trash Ape.
That "breaking your PS2" thing only happens if you try a _lot_ of discs one after another, right? Because I've got a copy of this game on my shelf still to try and a PS2 I've had since I was a teenager that I REALLY don't want to break!
I don't remember the exact number but I was doing nothing but swapping discs for a couple of hours because I was trying to make a list of every monster made from our entire PS1 and CD collection. If you're just using the shrine occasionally it should be fine.
Ash won the Orange Island League in season 2. I don't give a crud about Pokemon lore, but I'm tired of hearing this myth if "IT TOOK HIM 20 YEARS TO WIN A TOURNAMENT!" from people. Fucking love the streams, man. Top streamer.
Do the orange islands count as a nation though? Orange islands tournament had a casual feel although maybe the tropical setting threw me off, Alola has that megastadium on the biggest island in the archipelago, its like wrasslin in a high school gym or bingo Hall and calling it a wrestlemania victory at Madison square garden. Ash also won a second small tournament so they can do the "now your mom has two dumbbells! One two! One two!" Dumb gag.
As much as I agree that the Orange Islands mostly count, Tie specifically compared it to fighting games. And with that, I'm willing to say the Orange Islands don't count. All the other leagues are explicitly fighting tournaments, even if Ash wins a fair amount essentially by forfeit. Meanwhile, the Orange Islands was mostly a bunch of weird Pokemon-based athletic competitions; including battling, yes, but it was just one of many events. It's a valid trophy in terms of Pokemon training, but not for battling. It's essentially like constantly falling in fighting game tournaments, but winning first place in competitive Mario Party.

I love scottish accents, and funny scottish people are even better.

@@SereneDragon That's a relief, I was going to try a few CDs and games, but nothing THAT extreme, thanks Serene!
Cracked me like an egg laughing at this.

The second place trophy from Johto was the same size as the #1 donkatsu victory bowl from orange islands
@@JoelGloade Yes, it was an official tournament.
