Both chicks deceased on May 12-13th. To find out the cause of death of the eaglets, the bodies and food from the nest were taken for analysis in the Estonian University of Life Sciences. Cause of death was avian influenza H5N1. More information (in Estonian) www.kotkas.ee/uudised/laeaene...

The parents were good parents and providers. The eaglets may have been fed poisoned carrion. Sad, they were doing so well.
