This is a GREAT video! Thanks for your review. Another aussie here. I flew DOH-SYD late Feb 2024 and had a pretty similar drinks menu, but without the Two Hands Ares Shiraz (which is superb) - I was gutted! There was a decent Spanish red, however. And the Armand de Brignac champagne is top notch (as is the Alexandra). QR F is my favorite; I know the seats aren't as private but I sleep really well in them, the food is superb, the bathrooms enormous, and I love going to the bar area for a break and chatting with the bartender (like you did). Keep up the great work!

Thanks for your support! You definitely sound like you know more about wine than me! My knowledge stops at "tastes good or not" hahah. I do agree about the seat though, best in tis class by a mile!

Nice video, really good review. I'm from Adelaide and flying out to Scotland next month. Im looking to do this exact route on he way home to experience the A380 first class. It looks like theres quite a few spots available to book even less than a month out. Just hoping one will open up on the date I need!

@@pointyend-secretsthanks mate, I flew it in first class the other week on my way home! It was amazing. The Al Safwa lounge was god tier. I had a private hotel room to myself and used the jacuzzi. The whole experience was amazing 🤩

Oh man that's the way to travel
I'm flying out on Qatar on Wednesday but economy 😔

One of the best ways to do it! Qatar's economy is still fantastic, but it might give you a bit of motivation to stack some more points!

Great review. Looking to book this same flight in July to try out Qatar F, but having second thoughts due to the reduced menu / service and overnight nature. Would you fly this again or wait for another flight to fly during the day and have a full menu? If you had to choose between this v Emirates A380?

This seat is pretty great but the timing of it makes it a bit awkward, the food service is great but its more on par with their Business offering as they are putting more emphasis on making that great. The Qatar seat & bed I actually prefer to Emirates, but the privacy is impacted by this so if the flight is full its definitely not as nice! Id say if the times work better, Emirates is the go.

@@pointyend-secrets Thanks for the response. Yeah the 2am start having a reduced menu offerings is a big negative. Emirates still offer the same food offerings whether flying at 3am or 3pm. Almost impossible to get redemptions to London with Qatar via Velocity points so its either this or the Bangkok/Sydney flight which both have the same issues. Have done F in Emirates A380 and 777 Gamechanger, BA 787 and Singapore A380 Suites, so looking to eventually try this before Qatar retire the plane.

What date was your flight? There has been no news of renovations of Al Safwa in 2024.

Good, but not perfect by any means... a business lounge is not a good start and would've been a let down. I can't stand hot cabins - I'm not shy to make it known to the FA's tho :D

They made me aware of it via Email a few weeks before they started the work so I knew it was coming, but the reopening date was the day after I flew!! I was hoping it would be done early, but sadly not!
