I have a Galaxy S7 and spent nearly 2 hours trying to pair the phone to the RC and the RC to the Mavic Air... also went through 1 whole battery in the process and drained my phone battery. PITA until I found your video. I was able to pair the RC to the drone, then began calibration, which was successful, then had to update the drone firmware and wouldn't you know it, the 2nd battery was below 50% so I couldn't finish it to take the drone off the ground... It ruined my excitement to get it today. Thanks DJI for not even having a simply version of pairing... UNCUT. Thanks again "Phones and Drones" for this video. I hope it helps others. I'll be sharing on forums as needed in the future.
"Uncut sequence of pairing." This was the only video that solved the one itty bitty problem - fly by wire or wifi. Once you said, "Most people are going to be using the controller, so choose fly by wire..." OMG it was like the heavens opened up and angels sang. That was the problem. One stinkin' rotten problem. It should say "fly using controller" or "fly using phone." I would have chosen the former. Duh. Subscribed.
cheers worked for me, I was using the ipad but the wireless was shocking, just tested the mavic air on my desk for my friends house two doors down lol, having remote connected to fly is awesome, so always connect using wired to remote never wireless :)
problem is :: you had disconnected the RC and the DRONE wire , so somehow it connected via WIFI even thos connect thru wire was selected. QUESTION IS : can the DRONE be connected to RC AND RC connected to the PHONE at the same time ? ive read where you can only connect thru one PORT at a time on the RC, yet without the PHONE connected to RC there is no APP control of RC / DRONE
The USB C cable you are using is to connect your Mavic Air to your computer. You can do this when you want to download your videos from the drone internal memory onto your computer. So you should not plug it into the Remote Controller !!! I don't suppose it will do any harm - but it won't do any good either. The instructions you were (mis)reading on the leaflet were asking you to plug another (smaller) usb cable between the Remote Controller and the mobile phone (or tablet). You have 2 of these smaller cables supplied by DJI in your drone kit: one is for iOS and another for Android based phones/tablets. You mount your phone onto the RC and then you plug the small cable from the left side of the RC to your phone. My DJI GO 4 software detects the RC and the drone with no issues within a minute.
Dude? This 4 real?? Lol If you follow the step by step on the app it takes less then a min. I was laughing so hard when you hooked that 6ft cable to it.
I turn on my drone and the props turn ; gimbal moves ;.....THEN i am supposed to hear the fan inside spin up and i should hear the sound alarm and i should see the red light flash... BUT i dont. After the Props, Gimbal movement, i get a yellow light , it stays on constant yellow. What can i do here, please I have not looked around and have just left my drone in the bag for 6 months.
Hello I need a help. I'm with DJI mavic Air now. I on and use the app to but the front two lights are not changing it to green from red. Also in my screen it gives Ready to Go (vision) but not in green colour. I tried so much but never go green. So I'm using the drone to fly without being in green signal. What phone was you using ? I used a Samsung S10 the drone stopped working after 2 years and dji said it was my phone ! Absolutely rubbish customer care, told me by a phone that's compatible or another drone with 5% off !!
This video gives me a tiny bit of hope that I can actually connect to my Google pixel 2. Spent the whole day in the shop after buying trying to connect with no luck. I do not get the pop up notification on the screen when plugging the cable into the controller, it just shows the charging symbol in the 🔋 I have tried all the tips and tricks regarding usb debugging and flight mode however nothing changed. Anyone else experiencing this issue. I am still using 8.0 as heard bad things about updating to 9.0!! Please help!
Been flying it weeks. Now took it out in woods. Went to setup. No connection. Wouldnt go past no 3 in that list. No next. Or saying greyed out link device. Phones in rc. Knows it is. Yet does not go blue and allow me past. Without this it a £700 paper weight! Useless. Wtf has happened? All was fine. My trek into woods. With a mate carrying it was a waste of time!! No reason it unlinked. Let alone now wont show up on thd app. Reinstalled tried everything!! Help!!!!
Dude, didn’t you review this before posting, a lot of the important steps are done outside the camera fov, and when you show the connection cable close up its out of focus so it’s not possible to see the cable ends. I’m not even going to say “thanks for trying “ before it’s gets you frustrated just trying to understand what you did. You should remove this video before you get more dislikes than likes.
Not only is the camera angle garbage on this video, but you didn't bother to edit out the part where you made errors. It's a long video where I can't see anything and ultimately half of it is you making mistakes.

Tried the side cable on the rc per ootb instructs and my usb type c cable (like dji tech support sugg'd). Nothing. I'm thinking it's the android version. I dunno. Paid $$$ for this thing and it's frustrating af. Thoughts anyone?

You should practice making videos for the viewers - always check what the viewer can see. Make sure all relevant items are framed and in focus.

You also powered it on with the gimble guard on. NOT recommended if you don't want burnt out gimble motors
Good video but should have removed Gimbal Clamp before starting! Done this a few times myself - don't think it does the camera any good!

Dude one simple and most important rule. Never switch the drone on first before the controller and never switch off the controller before the drone

Just got the Mavic air, and can't seem to get it to pair to my Google pixel 2 xl ... Any advice would be appreciated
I actually originally paired it with my pixel 2 XL. Are you trying to use the phone is just a controller or in addition to the remote
Phones And Drones I got it to pair with my pixel XL 2 at first and then the firmware updated now when I plug the phone in, it doesn't reconize it
Try to uninstall and reinstall DJI go 4 app and see if that helps
