Actually, he's stated that he saw the tap, but wasn't 100% sure it was a tap. As it wasn't limb manipulation the only danger of getting it wrong was the guy going out for a few seconds.
In that moment he decided he would prefer that outcome to accidently misreading a move as a tap, costing a guy his title shot. Great refereeing in a sport that knocks refs constantly.

Michael Chandler is a tough match up as I think Chandler can stuff his takedowns and has much more explosive striker, I’d pick Chandler to beat Charles to be honest. He can definitely takedown and out grapple Gaethje, Justin’s leg kicks aren’t a threat as Charles loves to catch kicks and counter, he beats Justin by submission. Poirier is another tough match up because of his great defensive wrestling, I think Poirier would be a close fight, probably go to a decision.

Khabib slept Justin just before that calf kicks became a deciding factor, which shows Khabibs unreal fight IQ
