Another fun video. This is the most real, regular guy aviation channel there is. Like you are riding along having a chat. The video quality is great, but everything is not overly polished and overly edited. Refreshing that its not too salesman-y either and when you don’t know something you just say “I don’t know” vs trying to sound like an expert on everything. Glad you keep making these, always look forward to the next one coming out.
I’d love to have a Husky, but I wouldn’t need anything bigger than the stock 8.50x6 tires on it. At least if you go with the full glass Garmin panel you get an IFR airplane. Husky can also be tow planes or amphibians, it’s pretty versatile for a tandem seat airplane. Also, the A-1C can come with either the carbureted O-360 (180hp) or the injected IO-360 (200hp).
Thanks for giving us another demo flight Rich. Whenever you can you should see if you can get an interview and after he has built “Scrappy”. Of course, we are talking about Mike Patey.
Great video Rich! Husky’s are a blast! My father is on his second Husky and I am blessed to be able fly it on a regular basis as it’s based in my hangar here at Kanab. It’s fun to fly both the Husky and the Waco back to back as they are so different in many ways. As you said, the Husky is like a kite, even coming from the Waco, let alone the bigger iron you fly. Thanks again!
Just checking out the Husky and stumbled upon this FWR video - surprised to see Rich flying one of these so of course I had to watch. Enjoyed as usual but he's right about it being out of place flying around LA. I'd have been tempted to just keep flying east till I hit the desert or something.
I used to work at the FBO you flew into back when it was Millionaire Aviation in the 90's. Nice to see its still there even tho Signature took it over🤣
I flew a J3 a while back (30 years ago). Loved every minute of it. No electrical system, whiskey compass, altimeter, airspeed, slip/skid, Tachometer. I think that was it!
i just the got husky a1c for microsoft flight sim and clicked on this video thinking it was the sim version, awesome to find its a nearly exact version of the one in the sim, learned a bit on flying it and was great to see it flying for real - if you dont mind me asking i dont understand the way to use the prop speed and throttle together, i kind of figured it out but i know i am doing it wrong - tried watching some youtube vids but no one seems to explain it in a way that is understandable - if i set the prop speed what exactly does the throttle control then, it does seem to change the speed but how if the prop rpm stays the same - thanks for any info about it
Cool that you found my video through playing FS2020. Look up videos on "Constant Speed Propeller" and you will find plenty of good explanations! It's sort of like a transmission you have in your car. The videos you'll find should explain it!
At around the 15min mark you were saying " see how much quieter it is at 17inchs" I'm curious what you were talking about. I'm trying to learn airplanes since I have been playing flight simulator and find all this stuff interesting.
It’s a reference to engine power measured as manifold pressure in inches of mercury. Can’t use RPM with a constant speed propeller because as you change power the propeller changes pitch to maintain rpms.
@@FlyingwithRich I see ok thanks for the reply, all this is a bit confusing but like anything it will just take a bit of time and research but I'm sure i will get it. My grandpa flew bush planes for a living were im from in B.C, could be why I'm most interested in these little bush planes.
Dear Rich..!! I vote deciding who will be on for CEO in Your beautiful place in OCR Aviation Long Beach-CA Only YOU . because You have more experience aviation for more years. My High-support and recommended in Biden Administration -appointment for very soon- CEO I wish You good-luck !!! Appreciate it !!! Your great fun aviation !! Henryk
In the used planes market, a Husky can cost the same than a Piper Malibu, between 300K to a half million dollars. Prices are absolutely ridiculous and dumb as well ! However, Super C... sorry, Husky is a very good plane... But why, God, whyyy such a high cost for such a simple plane ??
@@FlyingwithRich I understand the market laws... But in this case, for the same price, i can find and buy a Beaver... Not really the same thing, ahah. 😅
400 grand and I ask if you took materials cost plus labor cost to build this aircraft less power plant, radios, avionics and tires because they are hard to quantify with an apple for apple non-aviation comparison cost, a person would be no where near 400k. Guess what I am trying to say is what someone is purchasing along with that airframe is the insurance against liability in that the product, and that it will perform as determined and written in the products technical data if done within the specified limits. The number of law suits has made aviation a wealthy person hobby to enjoy.
Overpriced and overweight toys. They are almost never seen in the bush for actual work. Not much payload due to the high empty weight. For the power, the performance is so-so. Very awkward and difficult to work on. Spare parts from Aviat are astronomically expensive. But - the flaps are great!

Thank you for the feedback - we appreciate it, and glad you like the videos!
“Ground, uh, what is this airpl…. Uh” - my exact words on a regular basis. I laughed out loud

Thank you for sharing your experience!
Your videos are great - really enjoy the variety and presentations of various aircraft - please keep them coming
Thank you. We will try to keep them coming!
I've had 7 ol' Huskies. None of 'em airplanes, all of 'em dawgs.
Speaking of a Husky being out of place in LA, Harrison Ford was flying a Husky when he landed on the taxiway at SNA.
Chuck Yeager had a Husky.
Says a lot about an airplane when Chuck Yeager chose it!
Loove this aircraft. I just get to use the one in VR in MSFS, but it's so cool ! 🐺
Fun airplane for sure - thanks for watching!

Yeah hopefully we get a chance to take something like this to the backcountry sometime. Thanks for watching!

Definitely a gorgeous plane. Much different panel from the old J-3 I flew 😁

Not into tail draggers, but that is a beautiful plane. Love the color .
You’re into dudes?

We LOVE these in Idaho.
That’s some flying I want to do a lot more of?
Now that looks like a blast to fly!
It definitely is in the right environment!
Useful load is closer to 1100, mine is 1100 (180). The a1c comes with either 180 or 200hp -360. Great paint scheme!
Thanks for the clarification!
Great video. Lmfao “turning base, let’s see if we can make it power off”
Great video. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for watching!
Many thanks and thank you for sharing cheers
Thank you for watching! Please share if you can :)
Awesome running into you at KBJC today!!
Very nice to meet you both!
I live where these are built and they are hiring positions for assembly people kinda considering going for it seems like it would be fun
Cool place!
Beautiful plane. Would love to learn more about plane sales and what you guys do.
We have something like that planned. It's coming sometime later this year! Thank you!
Probably easier to list the planes you HAVEN’T flown.
You're probably right haha.
Great video. Thank you.

It’s easy just have to get used to it and learn how it works. Some great bush flying in B.C. Thanks for watching!
@Lithium023 - glad to see that you are interested. Like the old saying goes...the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!
Cheers.

Is the Husky suitable for PPL training?
Probably not. I'd recommend a regular tricycle gear airplane like a Cessna 172.
Thanks for the ride, Rich. You don't have to talk to Los Alamitos?
We were on the border (605 freeway) so talking to LGB tower instead. Probably could have gone either way. Thanks for watching!
Hey RICH
👍🏻😎
you sure you cant land on water with those tires? They're yuuuge...
I think you can if it’s shallow enough?
I think I heard the ceo quote $450k on blancolairio
Wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll watch that video. Thanks for watching!
