Absolutely brilliant essay. I’ve been obsessed with this show. I believe this essay predicted season six truth about Tommy and the human spirit: “No Limitations”
This is so thorough and so personal. You have encapsulated your experience with such beauty, it's a shame there's not more of these video essays on your channel.
Good video my man, I really enjoyed all the classic movie moments you included. Solid editing too, seems you already know what you’re doing. Glad you posted it on reddit, RUclips is a sea of content and stuff just gets buried
Oh my goodness I'm so taken back by that I'm flattered honestly😮😊 Thankyou soosoo much!! I really appreciate you liking the video it means so much! I really hope you can stick around and see everything I have planned! ❤️
You’re so underrated man, this video is amazing in so many ways, the editing, the voice, the music, and most importantly the way you explain. Its just perfect. Keep up the good work bro, Im supporting
It was so hooking from the beginning to the end. This video essay took me back on time to high school, a place and a time when we appreciated literature for giving us some insight in life. I really “drowned” at the heroine part as an recovering addict also suffering from PTSD and medicine resistant depression. It was FOOKINGG great
This video essay is a masterpiece. I have watched it maybe 20-30 times over the past year and I rarely rewatch youtube videos. From the cinematography to the material discussed I am highly impressed. Very highbrow content and great scene selection alongside it (particularly enjoyed the opening scene and then the full cycle to the closing scene - well done). You seriously have a knack for this type of thing, I even find myself rewatching it with my eyes closed just to understand the depth of the insight shared and not get distracted by the visuals. One minor feedback suggestion, in my opinion the thumbnail is slightly too 'childlike', for example I wouldn't of clicked on this video from it alone but it had auto played in the gym and I was hooked since. Otherwise I have no idea why this isnt the highest viewed video essay on peaky blinders as the insight and analysis is extremely high level and the cinematography on point. Either way, great job you should be proud of this piece of art. If i could shake your hand I would.
Wow...Thank you so much I am very pleased to know that you enjoyed this video :D You are incredibly kind thank you brother. Reading this gave me so much joy and you helped motivate me! I enjoyed reading your thoughts and your input will help me improve and for that I am grateful. In regards to the thumbnail I believe you are correct! I should rework it but I am also in the process of re-creating this video with a new voice over because this was the first ever time I made a video essay and the audio quality in this video isn't the greatest. Also in this video there are some misspelled words so I hope to create a new updated version which will vastly improve your viewing and listening experience! I already created a thumbnail for that video which I am very happy with so I am hoping to release that video in May or early June :D Once again thank you so much for leaving such a thoughtful comment you really made my day buddy ❤️
Incredible mate 👏. You've managed to take a concept from the subtext or shadows in this series and you made it shine very brightly my friend. This defines Thomas on a deeper level and explains the complexities of his character.
Reasons like this is why it’s important to be friendly to everyone, especially if they’re showing aggression, seem lonely and keep to themselves, and even those who seem completely fine and well-built.
came from reddit. i loved this! the editing is amazing and artistic (and that FONT is so so CLEAN haha). such an interesting topic too, any kind of psychoanalysis on thomas shelby and i'm in :)
You did an amazing job on this character analysis my friend. I love how both you and I can analyze the same character, yet reach different lessons and conclusions (although there's a lot of overlapping as well which is inevitable). This is an incredibly interesting psychological analysis of the character. I watched it twice already. And if you would make one about William from Westworld, I would be very interested in your viewpoint.🧐

Very well done, I must say! Not only was I intrigued by the essay, which I think is very well written, but also by the editing. I liked how you incorporated all these scenes and analogies from other fictional stories. It added variety in the visuals. Also, the essay honestly slightly changed my perception of Grace... I always had the impression that the possibilities regarding the character of Grace were more far-reaching than they were ultimately used, but your essay highlights the importance of the impact Grace and their relationship had on Tommy and his character development. Thank you, I really enjoyed it :)
Very enlightening. Thank you, incredible character study, Thomas Shelby is one of the most interesting characters that’s ever been portrayed on television, Steven Knight & Cillian Murphy shared a gift, the creator & the actor brought him to life to in which he embraces darkness & light . One thing I’ve noticed w/ Cillian Murphy is he has played a soldier in other productions, he shines in those roles. As well as Peaky He played a shell shocked soldier in Dunkirk, he has also played a soldier in The Edge Of Love, The Wind That Shakes The Barley & The Trench.

I love your video, very much, please make video like this more, there's so much movie character or historical figure that would be interesting to discuss about their philosophy...
“ The greatest tragedy was making the world believe you existed in the first place” I see how you did the first scene of the video the the same as the end. That part was the saddest thing I’ve heard. I don’t want to make the same mistake as tommy, so I’m keep on this mask. Im A facade. But I’m Resolved of pain & weakness. Like you said, the cost of being human is to not be at human at all
To regret one’s own experiences is to arrest one’s own development. To deny one’s own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one’s own life. It is no less than a denial of the soul. Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

As for my writing...The last passage summarises Thomas Shelby as a character. "Life is a deception that has the potential to create real emotion" A lot of people nowadays tend to live their lives trying to please others but when one becomes self aware it comes with negative and positive side effects.
"A lie that creates a truth" in becoming self aware you then sometimes have to be someone you're not in order to get ahead in the world. In a way you have to hide your true self. The "Lie" then becomes the "truth" to the outside world.
In peaky blinders we rarely ever see Tommy be his true self, We don't see him smile nor does he show a wide range of emotions but the few times that he does he's surrounded by the comfort of his family or when he is talking to himself.
This is because showing your true intentions and or chatacter can be a sign of weakness. Villains in all forms of story telling use this to their advantage for example the green goblin using MJ as a bargaining tool to get revenge on Spider-Man. The same way in the real world sometimes you don't know who you can trust. That's why as people we often tend to be stand offish at times.
"The greatest tragedy of all was making the world believe you existed in the first place" It's a great shame that Tommy has to live a life of seclusion...Internally speaking. Like you said, the cost of being human is to not be at human at all
what a fookin piece of amazin gem of video mate
❤️
To regret one’s own experiences is to arrest one’s own development. To deny one’s own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one’s own life. It is no less than a denial of the soul.

Great Essay, loved the content, loved the editing :) I'd recommend fixing the audio levels: Raise the voice over, and it sounded like you were whispering the whole time, so talk with a fuller voice.
I will make sure to do just that my boy ❤️That won't be a problem again:) aaand thankyouuu!! 😊❤️
I thought it was 2 people talking . I liked the effect of 2 different voices tho!

As for the song it is called Where is my mind by the pixies but I used a piano version I hope this helps and also thank you for watching
What a damn video. Respect brother, respect.
Great Video.
Can you explain why you ended with the phrase.
I have watched it multiple time still failed to understand it.
I failed too
7:15 does anyone know this song in the background, just after Simba, the melody, I can't get over it, when he explains the Grace character and how she plays into his life

Thank you you're so sweet :D I am working on a couple videos at the moment one of which being a audiobook and a few film video essays
Is there anything in particular that you would like me to write/create a video about? :)
@@RealRayu Well, personally I would like to see a video on "all the bright places" (book or movie), but I would much rather watched a videos you are passionate about, because those are the videos that hit the hardest :D
