I was trying to find an analysis of Stuart Immonen’s work, and found your video. Great work. I had no idea he was so versatile. I became a fan after his artwork in Secret Identity the later in X-Men. Thanks for your insights and for taking the time to share and review his work.
I'm glad you found this one! Immonen's work is underrated in many regards. He's super inspirational, and I'm happy to share my thoughts on his work here.
Great video and analysis! Stuart is one of my favorite artists, versatile yet masterful when it comes to the foundations of drawing, a true powerhouse. I think Mike Mignola would be a good choice for a future episode. Keep up the good work!
Nice deep dive! Hope you do more! Nextwave was the first Immonen comic I picked up back in the day, fell in love with the art. Warren Ellis's hilarious writing helped a bunch too I might add. A recommend fun read.
Fantastic video Thomas! My first introduction to his work was with Ultimate Spiderman right after Bagley. Initially, I didn’t like that much. But over time I’ve gotten to become a really big fan of his.
I'm still addicted to his Superman work. Unfortunately, despite a great deal of effort, I can't stand the direction his art took later. I can't stand the X-Men work. Next Wave is tolerable for being what it is, but the X-Men work definitely is a negative as far as as comic art and the influence it has. At least he has his Thor and Hulk work to like at Marvel. His recent Plunge has a bit of the appeal of his older work returning. I'll admit that Olive To Red King art looks nice, even though it relies heavily on colour, is overly-refined, and it has those goofy mouths drawn.
My favorite style by him is without a doubt, Secret Identity AND his work on Legion of Superheroes... outstanding!

It's amazing how much he's evolved
I had never heard of him until the Bendis X-Men run and was stunned...some of the most gorgeous work I have ever seen!
This is awesome

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And Mike Mignola is a great suggestion, thanks for that!

Oh cool! Yeah, after looking at the art from that again, I definitely feel like I need to read that. Thank you and glad you enjoyed the vid!

"nextwave is for a younger audience" i almost choked
you missed Empress! there's another style in there
There totally is! He has so many, enough for another video perhaps :)
well, to me Empress kind of falls into his blockbuster x-men, spider-man style category. the coloring is a bit different there, though.
Such a wide variety of styles but I like the X-men work best
