Can always get motor kits installed as a 75th birthday present. There's a lot to like about this model, such as: the flat cockpit benches and the high backrest for the helmsperson; the good overhead shelter provided by the sprayhood when sitting next to the companionway, the good sized heads compartment with separate shower, the seagoing galley, storage space under those berths, the multi-sleeping-position aft cabin berth, a proper and functional engine room with good access (to the engine at least - might be tricky getting at the generator), and especially the large fuel tank relative to the engine's fuel consumption, providing excellent range. But will the HR 40 MkII be the next model to get the twin-rudder and beamy rear end treatment? A buyer could have an instant classic!
When it's all said and done - do you expect to be able to single-hand this sailboat? How are you finding it's size - and what do you expect you'll be able to do once acquainted with it? Do you think it's more/less/similar difficulty to sail versus the 40c/400/340?
