@@RandyTwang Yeah if you go off what he said int he deathblow video it was almost depressing, the first 2.5 minutes of this video though maybe me happy hearing he is enjoying it again.
@@gandhimahatma3304 i think you are underestimating how beast some humans are. People are just built different sometimes and I think he might be one of those people. We'll see though
Love to hear that he not only enjoyed this, but is able to enjoy skating again. That berrics interview pregame was so depressing, this really cheered me up though.
It's definitely one of the best game of skate in a long time. They really were having fun and hearing from Mike that's he got hyped to skate again Is incredible news, he have still so much to give to this sport... Great to see him BACK!
Honestly so sick to hear Mike Mo talking about enjoying being on a board. I remember an older nine club interview where he just said that it straight up didn't feel good anymore, and I'm hyped to hear that he knows now that it can still feel good for him. We love you Mike!
I can fuckin relate. Skateboarding was my love for 15 years and then the shitstorm began when I developed bipolar disorder. Like a very heavy version of it. In the depression phase I literally have no energy to do anything. And then the manic phase is just too much to concentrate on skating. Not to mention I Gained like 50 pounds due to the meds. I try skating here and there but the exhaustion comes instantly. It fuckin sucks that I stopped skating. I never wanted to stop. :( don’t take skating for granted my dudes. Do it while you can, put your heart into it and enjoy it. Because for whatever reason it can go away. And it’s really sad.
Give yourself time, my dude. I'm Bipolar I too and know first hand that it can take years to find a path through. I still have bad depressions and unfortunate manic cycles, but I've mostly learned how to make my way on the daily. Keep some hope in your heart for skating. I was an armchair skate nerd for years, with no hopes of ever actually getting on a board. Finally last spring, during the worst of the Covid winter, a touch of mixed state led me to say fuck it, and at age 45, in the worst shape of my life, I bought myself my first board and never looked back. I'll never be brilliant, but when I'm crawling the walls and pissed at the world, I can now grab my board and go lose myself in trying to progress. And that is EVERYTHING to me. Skateboarding will always be there waiting for you, whenever you come to a place where you can start again. And I truly believe that time will come. Keep your head up, brother. Better days are still coming
Dude can still skate harrrrrrrd. When he described his skating the one episode it made it sound like he would look visibly bad. He was still awesome! Glad for him it was an incredible game of skate. Thank you
It's him comparing himself to the level he was at. Which was one of the best skaters around. I watched his parts in high school and he changed a lot of the way people skate nowadays. To go from a major influence on everybody and their brother to not being able to be that guy was understandably deveadting because he had worked so hard. That being said no one stays at the top forever and I think he handled his injury well but now I think it's better that he's opening up to skating again even if it's not at the level he was at.
@@doclime4792 he invented one or two tricks, and landed multiple combinations no one had ever attempted before as far as like switch kickflip bs smith switch tre out etc, he was one of the best street skaters of our generation. its fucking awesome to see he can still skate even if its just flat.
For real it doesn't matter if your not the skater you once were, injury, aging, retirement is all a natural part of skating, wether Mike Mo or Mark Suiciu skating at that high of a level always brings forth a very serious potential for career ending injury session after session. People who started skating a few years after Fully Flared have looked at me funny when I've said Mike Mo was THE young child prodigy and the hottest thing in skating for a time, these kids don't know what that was like...
Yup I quit skating around 2006, right before Fully Flared. I remember hearing the name Mike Mo being said around my old skater friends and thought he was a Houston rapper. Now back in skating and feel like an idiot.
@@FingerBrokenBranches same here. quit skating in 2003, and get back into it just a month ago. started to watch all these clips and amaze on how good mike mo was

6:45 this is exactly why Pilates is HUGE for anyone that needs muscle control. whether it be boarding, dancing, drumming, running, climbing.. whatever it is, pilates gives you so much core strength and fine muscle control all whilst using muscles you never you even had. ignore that "that's a karen's/soccer mom's exercise" outlook folks have on pilates, because it will drastically increase your own body control. and btw, it's fucking difficult as hell.

So did Mike mo basically have to retire after his golf cart injury a while back? i dont follow the skate world as much as i used to, but i do remember how awesome he was back in the day.
it's a good thing not to have expectations... just do what you can and see what happens. He should stretch and do exercises tho. That might help a lot. Great dude...
