    Just needed to paus mid-video and say how much I admire the work and detail you put into these videos, and that the pieces themselves are really awesome in their own right. Just so you know, I would easily pay for this content, it's great! So thank you!

    This character is ace! I really like that you made a headshot too because the awesome costume is completely obscuring his expression, which deserves to be seen. Thanks for making the video and walking us through your process!

    I really love this guy. Whenever I’m in a procreate funk, I come to your videos and I always feel more inspired and less like my tool is holding me back. Clearly the tool is fantastic because you create such beautiful things with it!

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  6 лет назад +4

      Hey, thanks a lot. I think everyone gets like that with their tools from time to time. It's just as important to have a process to get into a creative state as it does to have a general art process. Thanks for including me in yours!

    This was so interesting! I feel like I'm so overexposed to the people who are like "This is my OC don't question a single thing about its design herp derp I'm a character designer now!" Which really turned me off to doing my own because everything seemed arbitrary and didn't make any sense, but i like how you had a "problem" to solve with the design.

    Thanks for taking the time to make a video like this. A lot of the process you do is along the lines of what I discovered on my own over the past 3 years, so I hope your videos help me with that extra push I need. It's very encouraging to see different types of artists with youtube videos like this!! Great job!

    Mike I know it takes a lot of time and work but I do really love this extended tutorials. I learn so much. do you use some kind of protector on the pro's screen? Something that helps with the "glassy "feeling when drawing? I love de Pro and have not used my intuos since I bought it, but sometimes I miss the texture when I draw on it... It feels so slippery.

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  8 лет назад

      Thanks, man. Glad you dig them! I don't use any kind of screen protector. I like to learn to use things in their simplest form so I don't have to rely on stuff like that. I haven't really had an issue with it. Just had to get used to it. I say just practice and it'll come naturally.

    I dont know if youre still answering comments on this video but. which brush did you use to put in your flat colors? I can never seem to get procreate to make a perfectly hard brush that tapers all the way to 1 pixel. its always slightly rounded at the end.

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  6 лет назад +1

      I use the flat brush with opacity falloff, not size. I have the same problem you're mentioning when I use a taper brush, but it's not something I usually rely on. Maybe you can adjust your pressure settings to get what you need.

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  6 лет назад

      Hehe... the good news is a lot of Photoshop's workflow can come over, but for what doesn't you have to just say to yourself, "Well, it's not built to do that." and let it go. Once the capabilities are defined in your mind, it's manageable.

    This is so incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to explain your thought processes and techniques. If I may ask one question, how did you get the big arc shapes so perfectly on the blade (around 19:45)? Did you use procreate's shape tools?

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! When I did this piece Procreate didn't have shape tools. For the blade I free-handed the first arc, then duplicated that arc and scooted it a bit, then filled the space. For the other curves, they're all free-handed, but you may see my adjust them with transform a bit.

      They're usually black while I'm drawing, but they get changed during the coloring phase.

    That's so dope having the talent where yuan basically create anything. Whenever I try to make characters nothing really looks good or makes sense. Any tips on strengthening my drawing

      Really a lot of it is just practice. Without going over specific design it's hard to give direct feedback. It takes a lot of repetition to become natural at this skill.

    You've just convinced me to get the iPad Pro with this vid. I like my surface, but the iPad w Pencil form factor seems much better.

      Wayne Parker I haven't used the Surface, but I love how streamlined the iPad Pro experience is. It gets to the point.

    Thanks a bunch for the time explaining your thinking. I always start my logos the same way but somehow skip that step when i illustrate. Sometimes you have to be ready to learn a lesson.

    I was looking into a Cintiq, but after seeing your drawing capability with the Ipad pro and Procreate... I think you get more out of the Ipad since it is able to do more than just drawings, doesn't need to be plugged in, and works as its own computer. thank you for the video!

      Canadian Country Plus, you can get an app called AstroPad and it allows you to use the iPad Pro as a tablet on a computer.

      Yeah I've been watching people use that app! Unfortunately I have a Windows computer instead of a Mac so I don't think there's a program like that for the PC yet but I'll certainly be looking around. Thanks again for the info and the awesome videos, you're very talented!

    I can look at this character for hours and not get bored!
    I can't wrap my head around the concept of eeeh flattening(?)! Why do you grey it again? If you have the time some day, can you dumb it down for me, please?

    • @zatransis
      @zatransis  8 лет назад

      Heya! I just use grey as a starting color. I then use that layer to select his silhouette for the rest of the flatting process so I don't go outside of the lines. It just speeds up the process.
