I’m sitting in my car in the rain waiting to go into my IPHC minister’s interview, as much as I studied in preparation, coming across your channel, and your overview was extremely helpful. I listened to it several times on my ride, very well done and what a blessing!
Please pray that a great Holy Ghost revival will happen soon please set aside time each day to pray specifically for that Pentecostal churches have lost their power and fire they have all become powerless and lukewarm it seems like please pray for Holy Ghost revival
I appreciate the impartiality with which you present the history of religious experience in the realm of Christendom. If only conversations between strains and denominational inclinations would take on such a respectful, objective and charitable approach.
My great grandfather was a traveling evangelist through this movement in the early to mid 1900's. My mom was raised in this movement, but left when she was an able adult. My grandparents continued in this movement, and I remember visiting their church whenever we stayed with my grandparents. My first experience with a Pentecostal movement. Very fascinating history, thank you so much for this brief history of it!! Matthew
I was born and raised in the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Gugulethu, Cape Town, South Africa (Russell B. West Memorial). I thank God for this church and holiness.
I was raised Presbyterian but when they went hard left, I joined The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Goldsboro NC and have finally found a home. Conservative, Bible believing, missions oriented and no one gets turned away.
International Holiness Pentecostal Church is in communion with the Evangelical Cathedral of Chile (the main Church of First Methodist Church in Chile, a Church formed in the Valparaiso revival in close date to Azusa revival and India revival)
I grew up in the IPHC denomination. From there I moved into “NAR” type churches. Now I am Presbyterian, reformed leaning believer. Overall, I’m more interested understanding why people believe what they believe and interpret the Bible how they do. Generally, I feel as though there are many theological points that I’m not necessarily convinced by either side.
Thanks so much, I'm very grateful for these time-saving overviews, and especially today with this one. I've been sharing for some time now in writings and posts and speech, my assertion that the Pentecostal/charismatic experience is separate and distinct from the holiness one (those labels are often interchanged and muddled in conveyance, so...). There is an experience of the charismata blessing, the Holy Ghost UPON the Christian subsequent to justification/salvation; and there is also potentially available the instantaneously-given fullness of the Fruit of the S(s)pirit of Agape'/Holy Love. (They can possibly be goven together but I would believe very rarely so.) Few who have the Baptizing (n.; sic) of the HG upon them also claim to have received the fullnessif Love, and we know most who claim the fullness of Love don't pray in tongues and such. I never heard of Benjamin Irwin and his theology before today. So just as I was eternally grateful 30 years ago to read personal testimonies of some of Wesley's followers tell of Love's fullness, confirming what I also claimed of myself; today I discovered another minister had espoused the charismata blessing as a 3rd. May God continue to bless you and your work, in Jesus' name.
Love your channel! Can you make a video in some sort discussing oneness Pentecostals (UPCI / PAW) in depth. As a former member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, the history is rich and is a huge part of the Azusa Street Revival (Bishop GT Haywood - first presiding bishop of the PAW and leader in the Azusa Street Revival) and is not discussed enough in our Christian discord.
Hello Angelo! I do have a video on UPCI, Here it is: ruclips.net/video/3HHKwl9ZoL0/видео.html I also have two videos comparing them to other denominations.
The problem I have is the scriptures don't lable or title any type of church. It recognized more than one body of believers based on location other than that its sad at the lack of scriptures used to define
There were Charismatic churches before the Azusa Street Revival that were for all intents and purposes what we would call Pentecostal today. The most common term for them was "Holy Rollers." Asuza merely provided a common banner for them all to march behind. Although, Pentecostal practices such as "speaking in tongues" (put in quotes because it has always been a nonsense practice) go back to the Second Great Awakening. I imagine the Millerite sects in the mid-19th century would have looked pretty Pentecostal in theology and practice. Watch There Will Be Blood. The Church of the Third Revelation is pretty much a Pentecostal church despite the scenes introducing it taking place a few years before Azusa.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
It's nice that God sometimes bestows the miracle of speaking in tongues on his worshipers, but you know what would be more useful? Regrowing a lost limb.
@@zulu3779 It happened one time in a book written anonymously 2000 years ago? Where are all the faithful regrowing lost limbs for the last 2000 years? You believe miracles happen every Sunday in church! Why isn't it a _useful_ miracle??

You're welcome, David!
My dad was an IPHC pastor! I'm still in it to this day. Thank you for the video.
I would like to see a video on the Congregational Holiness Church that he mentioned briefly in this video.
Thank you for delving into all of these denominations, as I never knew anything about any of most of these.
Glad to! I'm happy to have you as a viewer.

What was objectionable about "frying oysters and eating ice cream for supper"? (00:45). Someone help me understand the context here.
Pssst.....Oysters and ice cream are EVIL!!!
Thank you , I was waiting for this !

So pentecostal churches existed before pentecostal movement.
Yep, Pentecostalism stemed from Methodism, which stemed from Anglicanism.
