PurpleKangaroo4 I believe there's an ancient language that spells out a lot of the info as well as tying together the graphic images laid out by the various surviving characters. If you remember the hidden monoliths, the big slabs, they have said language on them.

You don't do that in-game. They're actually a translation from the english alphabet, with a couple characters repeated. You can try to decipher them yourself, or look up the wiki.

that K9 and destiny (black schadow) are foo. destiny made ALL the hyper light drifters sick. thats way the pink drifter save's you whem you bounced in to him. you can see other deifters aswell...dead on the sidewhalk. AND muche more you left out.
Lord Crunch If you have the charge sword hit it is very easy. Just rush him and use the charge hit from the top side of him to hit all of the things he spawns and kill them. Then watch for his charge. Rinse and repeat.
eh, it's kind of like dark souls story telling. you have to dig a bit but the story is typically quite inciteful to your scenario. it's a really cool way to explain the backstory. hyper light does it a bit different. the npc's in dark souls kind of hint at the story and in the end you have a good idea as to what happened, even if it is a bit hard to understand. hyper light is ment to be shrouded in mystery. you know you're a drifter, but the events of the past are supposed to be long gone
XxLamastaxX 115 The game basically has no text in it which is awful since you can't really understand what's going on, They say a "Picture paints a thousand words" and it's true, but these words are abstract. Dark souls at LEAST doesn't make you feel overwhelmed by not understanding the story, But in Hyper Light Drifter, I can't help but feel like I'm missing out on an amazing story just cuz I couldn't understand it. All I'm saying is that HLD should've been more carefull when it designed this ambient, silent world. Not EVERY player is a game theorist. The SMART thing to do was to make a "Surface" plot that was easy to understand from the get-go and a more "Dig Deeper" story for all the people who'd like to do that.
"make clear" is a strong term. Though it definitely could have given a bit more to build theories from. The pictures did a good job in some respects but the whole "immortal cell" thing kinda got completely left out.

they definitely don't need to put all of this in the game, but a bit more than they gave would be appreciated. I'm all for ambiguity but there just aren't enough hints.
again, it is all there technically, just only to be found by really dedicated people, honestly a mod or unlockable that translates the tablets into readable lore in game would be pretty awesome tho
not really. there are these stone tablets in the game that, if translated, literally just explain everything. the game is still impossibly gorgeous and the music is ambient as all hell. still very much worth a playthrough
+Laxenid I have played the game, and beaten it, and it's amazing. But I feel like (very much like undertale) finding out all this lore is better in the moment and doing it yourself, seeing as how it's not all shoves in your face at the beginning of the game.
It's sorta tricky cause lore videos are normally about all the stuff that happened before the game's events with no spoilers about what happens as you play. It's a good balance for most games, but most of HLD's story is in the lore so it feels like it's giving away too much. On the other hand the game is cryptic as all hell about its own story so a video like this is nice for when you're done playing.
the sort of ambiguous Dark-Souls-esque lore that this game, and games like it, have don't really lend themselves to character-driven narratives. The character is the means by which you experience the world, and the only thing that makes them stand out is that they are strong enough to overcome obstacles to make a change in that world.
Believe me I know, but I thought this game was going to be vastly different than what we got. It certainly painted a different picture for the first two years of the kickstarter on how it was going to be told. It is more Zelda-esque and not Dark Souls. God I hate that analogy, it's so overrated and not really applicable. But if you believe it is than I'm not going to convince you.
