Lando Norris beat Sergio Perez to second, ending the streak of one-twos from Ferrari and Red Bull and hometown hero Zhou Guanyu battled his way to 14th.
Bryn Lucas is joined by Jake Boxall-Legge and Jon Noble as we review the Chinese Grand Prix.

Max is so not boring--the problem is that we can't really see why he's so brilliant, and worse, pundits and journalists fail to explain what he is exactly doing. How is it that he is more than one second per lap faster without destroying his tires? What exactly does he do? If you watch footballer players like Messi you can actually see what they are doing when they demonstrate their brilliance, but in F1 it's very difficult for watchers of the race to figure out what's going on. And, strangely, journalists lack the same insights. There just isn't enough expertise.

The problem is that we have to much twitter or social media journalist. Everything is a hype it`s all about feelings and emotions. They give us no insight in the sport. Second problem is there are good journalist but they will only report what there readers like. There are good British media and journalist but they don`t like Max because of the goat conversation. Lewis is there hero and when you explain why Max is so good they think that will hurt some people`s feelings. I think both of them are exceptional but i have to say the last years Max is the best pilot on the grid.

Agree. But it's not a lack of expertise, it's a lack of decency and not being able to report unbiased. It's all about Hamilton for the british dominated f1 press. Even a Lando Norris gets treated differently than Lewis. These so called motorsport-loving-reporters are hurting the sport just because they cannot get over the fact that Hamilton isn't winning anymore.

Max Verstappen and his Race Engineer worked out a number of changes after the sprint race to his car and those made his car a lot better.
Checo Perez also had a lot of changes to his car, but he complained after the race that those changes had made is car worse.
The same was true for Lewis Hamilton.

I feel you glossed over the drive of Lando who was superb in the way he drove that Mclaren. At every red flag restart Lando opened up a gap very quickly against the rest of the field except for Max obviously and there has been talk about the subtle ways he lengthens the life of tyres with his driving technque.Just see where Oscar was before his car damage 9 secs adrift after 18 laps and Oscar is a great driver.

The penalties this weekend were a bit of a joke. Alonso getting more penalty points for racing hard than Stroll gets for not paying attention and plowing into the back of another car?

What F1 really needs is just one car per outfit. That way it won't be possible to have "weak" drivers in your car, primarily there to ensure against failures of man or machine. We could have twice as many teams on the same grid. It would be like the old days. One car, one driver. One shot. Why not?

As a McLaren fan this was a very enjoyable race for me. I thought this was probably the best I’ve seen so far from Lando, outstanding drive. A shame Max is so dominant but at the same time you have to marvel at a sportsman at the top of his game.

Let me summarize: Verstappen is one of the five greatest F1 divers... Perez isnt getting it done because he's .5 sec a lap behind. Isnt it a little unfair to keep comparing Perez this way? He's in 2nd place so far, what more does he have to do? No one else is challenging Ver.

Max and Checo fan here. Checo is doing pretty well this season (not considering Australia, where he had a stalled floor because of a tear off), but his performance yesterday was subpar to say the least. Sure, he was unlucky with the VSC/SC timing, but with that car, he should've been able to bag both Leclerc and Norris and finish P2

  • @David-lh3wn

I do wonder with this constant Perez bashing if it is under selling just how good Max is. Max is crushing the whole field and getting more out of this formula than anyone. Perez is second in the championship, he is doing the job. The rest of the field are more of a let down than Perez, right now. He isn't as good as Max, but him combined with the car is still the second best package thus far. Red Bull aren't obliged to make the show/racing/sport fun. They are winners, not purists.

  • @Ogole-oye
    @Ogole-oye Месяц назад +12

I get that you lot aren't particularly RedBull fans which is okay, but as journalists you have the responsibility to try mask your inherent biases which again are natural to all. But the way y'all talk so graciously about other drivers or teams but when it comes to RedBull, the tone is either dismissive or negative.... For example the way you give a pass to Lewis but when it comes to Checo y'all get swords out. anyway it is just an observation noticed over time in y'all's presentation

The only reason why Checo was not able to catch & pass Lando was because of excessive tire wear he wasted, catching & passing Charles. Had Max been in Checo's position, after his pit stop, he would have pushed, almost flat out, to pass Charles asap, then 'real in' Lando & pass asap. After that, prudent tire management would have got him home in P2.

Sad it was made exciting by lack of racing, by which I mean VSC, safety cars. Then tyres. Really getting boring. What different pit stop strategy? These for the majority were the same due to the safety car! They started out being different but became aligned.
The tyres are becoming an even bigger part of the race than ever.
Conclusion, RBR and Max miles ahead again per usual. Cars that were thought to be next best weren’t! Ferrari. McLaren better than expected. And no one knows why😂😂😂

This is what has made me 'fall in love' with Autosport, in that your journalists are not bound to a Liberty Media payroll pressure, telling these races as they are. F1 has turned boring, since 2022, moving increasingly into that anti-climactic atmosphere, where fans like me, who followed F1 since 1967/1968. Without Safety Cars regrouping the fans into an atmosphere of potential rehaul, we would probably not complete visualizing these races that organizational greed and ill-spirited race regulations have taken the F1 we use to know, from Legend to Hell!

Would be nice but they don't have the rights to track footage. Even if they did they would only have them for their region like Sky and therefore have to restrict video to UK for example.
Then have everyone outside UK complaining at them for restricting it, on twitter or in their other video comments.
This should be understood by now.

What’s funny is that you actually think F1/sky be bias towards Max lol. It’s actually the opposite and they all have hard ons for Lewis. Don’t know what world you’ve been living in. F1 podcast has Damon Hill, who systematically skips every single episode after a Max win, that’s how Petty he is. Listen to these guys give Lewis a pass for horrible Quali and mediocre race, and then rag on Checo for getting screwed by a safety car.
