Never watched the original episodes but really enjoy the re-runs on freeview (or wherever).....their chemistry is one of the most interesting aspects of the whole shebang.............isn't it!!!!!!!!!!

Aw I love this show i think it does'nt get half enough recognition, i have just one small critique! its that i think the baby/pregnancy should'nt have come into it till a later series cause there was such a deep chemistry growing between them two and i think the baby storyline kinda drove them apart a little,and i know they had broken up anyway but! would love to have seen them get one night of romance together after the baby arrrived even though they did get married but they never seemed to get much romantic moments after that and even there wedding night was ruined...oh well my rant over im such a romantic!!!!!!!!!!!!lol
they dont know year to year if it will be continued.. you cant say,, lets wait 3 seasons for such and such..even today they dont know ..its one of the most popular shows in the world

Louisa annoys me, she just demands and demands from him, can’t she understand Martin can’t help the way he is, he grew up with his parents despising him so he just shut everyone out, it was easier for him to do that than have to deal with the pain. Only Joan really cared about him when he was a child, and then he loses her. I’m not saying Louisa doesn’t care for him, she clearly does but they would’ve been together a lot sooner if she just backed off a bit and let him come to her when he was ready. The end of Series 4 was a turning point for Martin, he FINALLY tells Louisa how he feels.
You can argue Martin doesn’t care about the village, but nothing could be further from the truth. You call him and he comes running, no matter where you are. Yes he a bit rude, abrupt and brusque, and he can deny it all he wants but he cares about every single person in Port Wenn, and the village love him as well despite his personality. His little aversion to blood is comical and he suffers through it for the sake of his patients. I’d rather have a doctor like him as opposed to a over friendly gabshite coz I’d know I was going to be ok if he was my doctor, he’s straight to the point and an excellent diagnostician. He does care, realky
And yet, in Season 9 when the marriage psychologist tried to talk to Louisa about her hang ups that were fowling up the marriage, she didn't have any time for that. As she said, she was just there to talk about all his failings - never hers.

I just started watching the show from season 1, up to five now. It's drags the story with lousia and martin. To me his got aspergers and Louisa is playing with his feelings. These days he should know that's what his got. I have a very dislike to that character, out of 10, its 10.

You are incorrect. He shows his emotions, as best he can, given his disfunctional upbringing. I love Doc Martin.
Yeah louisa season 7. Im done with her,. Selfish and unsympathetic. Yes the doctor has poor communication skills. She knows why. But he obviously treats her well and he loves her yet she runs away to Spain for 3 weeks without calling. To top it off she leaves him in constant suspension as to whether or not she is going to leave him. At this point she is unworthy of doc martens affections.
She kept trying to get him to conform to her way of things but the problem was he was WAY out of her league and couldn't which irritated her no end and showed itself in demeaning and belittling remarks to him and other as well as continuous criticism of everything he did. He gentlemanly took her hand as they walked, she dragged him into the bushes and pretty well sucked his face off. He eventually proposed to her and she had him in bed before the evening was over. Ironic how manipulative she was when she found she was pregnant and she kept trying to use the baby to hook him into parental feelings because once he felt those she'd be able to boss him all over the place - which she did. But up until then, her petulance and irritation that he just wasn't falling into line fast enough was something to watch. She was so common, her family was common and she knew she wasn't in his league so she would belittle him whenever he spoke knowledgeably. Ironic that she couldn't hand the kid over to the babysitter, the daycare, the aunt and him fast enough so she could go become a counsellor and have clients as she spoke, at length about her analyses. Ironic too, that she started taking over his office for herself and her clientele. She's pregnant again? Two to hand over to anybody and everybody while she goes off and does something else with her time. He should have married Dr. Montgomery whom he had lived with while attending medical school. Maybe the writers will wise up in Season 10 and have Doc Martin finally get a backbone and drop Louisa for the manipulative taker she is.
