    I’m so impressed with your boat and the equipment you have added to it. That hauler looks like it will save your backs! Given the state of supply shortages, I think you are lucky to have gotten your boat when you did - we are still waiting. You are so fortunate to have the kind of ocean that is at your doorstep, enjoy!

    I have the perfect idea how to get that in the water just put it in a flat bottom or a dingy. Attach some good size buoys to one side of the dinghy and then pull the plug so when it starts to sync, one side will be held up and the other side will sink so the load will be just dumped out then you could pull the boat to shore and bail out the water. Lol

      Ha that’s been the big back and forth question. We decided to go with zero chain. 140’ of 1 1/2” rope dropped at 70’. One hard bouy attached 30’ from the bottom to keep the rope from wrapping around the anchor.
      I’ve talked to a lot off people out here, sure hope we are making the right decision.

    Have you ever tried trolling with an umberlla rig? Is that method used in your area. Going slow, the umbrella rig has rubber tubes to entice fish to bite. It worked well in Montauk, Atlantic ocean, for blues, sea trout and strippers. Please comment about this. Also do lobsters show up in your waters? I see there are king crabs, just wondering.

    • @AnAlaskaHomestead

    • @charlenekociuba7396
      @charlenekociuba7396 Год назад

      @@AnAlaskaHomestead If you have fish that will chase bait, like a small tuna we have here it's called Bonita, or sea trout, blues or stripers, they are easily caught on a umbrella rig. Check the locals see if they do that kind of fishing. I'm pretty sure the outfitting is pretty reasonably priced. Using rubber tubes as bait, makes it least cost as well, reusable.
      If I were out in Montauk, I could probably get you a set up, but I left when Greg died, so I don't anyone anymore to ask. But I do remember it worked well, tonage as we called it, could be sent out to market and the fish were in good shape (not dragged or torn apart), so we got a good price. I was thinking if you trolled, you'd get enough fish for a few meals, perhaps for the winter by filleting and freezing.
