This song is really nostalgic for me. It was a time me and my late father could spend singing together, being happy together, and enjoying each other’s company, which wasn’t often. I miss him dearly, yet as a teenager I’ve grown away from irish folk songs after my dad died. It feels so relieving to listen to it, its bittersweet.
My this takes me back. I remember watching the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem sing this as at Ravinia Park outside of Chicago as a little kid. Thanks for posting it here.
Gosh, my dad used to sing this to me when I was a child! Can't believe I found it.. I just said on Google, "The Gypsy over the hill into the Valley, song"
My daddy used to sing this to me! I love this so much! It's so very dear to me. He always called me his Gypsy wench lol which i also love ❤️ RIP Daddy i love you forever
I was a wee girl when I heard and loved this. Now I see that the gypsy is like Henry V, who used a disguise to really get to know his men! Both beautiful moments.
Thanks for this great vid of the boys when they were younger. That's how I always think of them. They're terribly missed and can never be replaced.

Slainte - music I grew up on
Always wanted to be able to whistle. And juggle. And be a trapeze artist. And play the violin. And smoke a pipe. Not all at the same time.
The voice of bane brought me here
